I was excited to see Sean, an RTS player really stick it to this game for all the hurt it put me through as a kid. But its like watching your older brother go confront your bully only to have your brother get put in a headlock. This game is awesome.
The AI on that ore truck was actually terrifying. They can't program on-ramps for transport ships, and they can't program missions to not blow up your units immediately if you're not paying attention, but by god can they program an ore truck to run over your whole dang army with brutal efficiency.
It's pretty rediculous how good ai harvesters are at weaving around your vehicles to wipe out infantry units. Makes a lot of the early tiberium dawn missions feel extremely unfair on hard mode.
I actually watched the 5 hour video including the 2 hour mission. I completely lost it when your infantry got ran over by the ore trucks after you spend literally 15 minutes transfering those poor basterds to the island.
As a C&C player from back in the day, this was quite painful to watch. :P But yes, that island mission it is possible to get yourself locked in that kind of stalemate if you aren't careful, after which the match bogs down into the kind of suffering seen here. The solution, if anyone is wondering, is to have a strong tank force when attacking the first Allied base, then board multiple transports at once with said tanks and land on the beach on the other end of the island that the Allies landed at, including the MCV. Indoor missions are a pain, just like the no-base missions of Tiberian Dawn. If you don't know just the right trick for that level, you won't be having a good time. Last, spam-clicking on something, such as trying to load a unit onto a transport only resets the unit order and delays the action. Less is more, in this case.
nah i just drop paratroops on the island before the allied MCV gets there and destroy it before they ever get a chance to set up on the island mission is easy after that
As for the collectors onto the transports, it was clear to me they were trying to load via the 'on ramp' rather than just 'entering' as we would expect today. Game is smarter than us. XD
"We're going to play Red Alert all damn day" (Narrator in background: "And by play Red Alert all damn day, He meant play ONE mission of Red Alert all damn day")
Out of all of Day9's sloppy, joyous romps through games from my childhood, this one is BY FAR my favorite. I will say I was hoping for a montage of all those Yak strafe runs spliced together in rapid succession. If someone wants to make that, I'll buy you a cookie
Oh my God, I remember that mission on the island. I don't think I had as much trouble with it as Sean did, but I do remember thinking it was the hardest mission in the game
Having grown up with this game, half of the time I was saying "yep, the game is that wonky" and "if you paid attention that wouldn't have happened." I laughed so hard at that final mission with the nuke. A gold mine of clips!
It's 8am, I haven't slept a wink yet as I've been up all night having a heart to heart talk with a friend and you've got me crying laughing at this Sean. Thanks, that's all I can say is thanks, hope you and yours are doing well.
I... I GOT MY MISSILE LAUNCHER RIGHT HERE, I GOT MY MISSILE LAUNCHER RIGHT... HERE. I GOT MY MISSILE LAUNCHER RIGHT HERE??? I GOT MY MISSILE LAUNCHER RIGHT HERE :-(
lol sean not knowing about the scramble key, which is usually "x" by default, is hilarious. even with mashing the scramble key, the ore truck will probably squish everything
I was here in 2010, I still drop by every now and then, leave a like and a comment, all because I love Sean. Also I laughed my ass off. Thanks. I'm glad to see your channel is still as awesome as it's always been. Even to this day, I name you as my all time favorite "internet person". yay
MUAHAHAHAHAAAAA... SUFFER DAYJ, SUFFERRRR This game was my actual childhood. It is so nice to see that my countless hours playing through the campaign have become relevant at a point in the future, where I can remember important tiny details that let me skate through the over-hard difficulty of this game.
If you don't have a blossom tree/ore mine and want to avoid running out of resources, place some units on top of some of the tiberium/ore, the harvesters won't collect it and it will (slowly) regrow over time.
Except dark souls has good controls? 'Lol it's hard, lol he dies a lot. I'll compare it to dark souls' That feels like the extent of your thought process.
@@joshuahensley9395My opinion: I felt that dark souls was slow and had bad controls. It also killed you for no reason. If your judging a remastered a 1995 game that has input from the community of command & conquer from what they wanted to see, day9 playing badly because of habits he pickup playing a difference type of rts (his generals playthrough was also poorly played but along as he had fun so who cares) and generally you talking out of your ass then, aleast give people the ability to make jokes. So in short fuck you.
It is a lesser known fact that the quality and enjoyment of a game can be measured in the ratio of 'fu**s' per minute a player exudes while playing. Replace 'fu**' with your preferred equivalent.
As someone who loved this game 20 years ago, holy shit has it not aged well. After 20 minutes of watching Day9 play I was like "this game is a piece of shit." Why didn't the remaster do anything to actually make the game playable?
Can’t wait until he plays Tiberium Dawn and gets to that commando mission and then wants to blow his brains out once he realizes how blowing up the anti-aie missiles has RNG of if enemies are going to die when the C4 goes off or not, making his only unit *take damage that he can not regen*. Fuck that mission so hard, in its knees.
I tried replaying the original last year and got stuck for a while on the nuke plant mission aswell, I wondered for a while how 9 year old me could complete that mission and I don't even remember it being hard
Meh, I beat the game when I was like 11-12 but I played the remaster and it really kicks your ass. It's easy to forget just how unforgiving games were in the 90's, as well as how little hand holding there is. Also, some of it is just really bad game design where new game mechanics are introduced with no explanation (such as moving units onto those squares in the indoor level) or levels become exceptionally hard if you don't end them fast enough.
BWAHAHAHAHHA, oh my god, thank you man, that was the best laugh i had in a long time! It´s like trying to get your moron dragoons down a ramp all over again, good old days! XD
Whoever edited this needs a raise. If Sean edited it and you're reading this without a Twitch sub, go and give him a months money. A highlight video this good is hard to come by!
I suck at RTS, like...Really sucked. I've no map awareness nor the APM to do a decent multitasking. And yet i'm puzzled as to why Day9 have any issues with RA's Soviet campaign at all. Literally on all Soviet's base mission i just build 2 ore refinery with 4 ore truck, build amass number of heavy tank and completely bulldoze my way through everything x'D , not even build a single infantry aside from the free paratroops. As long as you keep moving while shooting no allied base would stand your pummeling
I was excited to see Sean, an RTS player really stick it to this game for all the hurt it put me through as a kid. But its like watching your older brother go confront your bully only to have your brother get put in a headlock. This game is awesome.
My god that HERO ore truck, my stomach hurts from laughing so hard
The AI was always brutal at driving over units in that game, but this was *epic* . 🤣
I was like "Shit, the most op unit in the game is the fucking MINING UNIT! Imagine an SCV in StarCraft killing the entire Protoss DeathBall!!! LOL"
What it would be like to be the driver...

*Explosion* -> "I can't" -> *Nuclear explosion* -> Replay Mission: Yes
Really nice comedic editing.
Yes, yes, yeS, yES, YES.....
This was really well edited, wouldn't mind seeing more of these types of highlights for games Day9 plays!

same. the entire stream was hilarious
Same here, watched the whole thing. It was worth it :D

@@Altrescu makes me sooo happy lol
I learned that last point by mistake, realizing that every time I command a unit, they stop for a second to do the next action.
nah i just drop paratroops on the island before the allied MCV gets there and destroy it before they ever get a chance to set up on the island mission is easy after that
Legit wheezing with laughter at those ore trucks making paste out of your boys
I watched the harvester massacre five times and it has me in tears. More highlights like this one please.
Affirmative!
Achknowledghed!
Achknowledghed!
Achknowledghed!
Achknowledghed!
Cha-ching
So glad a highlight vid got made of this. The nuclear explosions were unbelievably funny
"It's ok, it's a defensive submarine" 🤣
I ❤️ Command & Conquer!!
Great Letsplay! 😉🙌
Narwhals8MySister is a legend, I hope she's still making these. If not, the person who did is a boss. Hilarious.
I hope so, I discovered day9 thanks to her.
I believe @PlanktonED on Twitter has been the awesomely fantastic editor of Day9 highlights since 2018 😄
Appreciate the kind words!
indeed she is!
This was edited brilliantly
The truck running over the infantry was comedy gold lmao
As for the collectors onto the transports, it was clear to me they were trying to load via the 'on ramp' rather than just 'entering' as we would expect today. Game is smarter than us. XD
"We're going to play Red Alert all damn day" (Narrator in background: "And by play Red Alert all damn day, He meant play ONE mission of Red Alert all damn day")
This legitimately holds up as one of the funniest videos ever made
Out of all of Day9's sloppy, joyous romps through games from my childhood, this one is BY FAR my favorite.

That mission in the end... god the memories that came over me... all the rage from that time, I just threw my monitor of the balcony!
When that truck was running everyone over i seriously could not stop laughing

Oh my god this video is gold! I'll have to watch this several times to completely appreciate it. "Who made games in 1996?" lol!
There is nothing more C&C then building a sub & then realise you have boxed it in.
that ore truck was like a mad bull hunting torreadors
Damn that Ore Truck won MVP, this whole video had me dying.
Omg I Just love those highlights. Litteraly my face hurts from smiling.
This was fantasic. Thank you for the highlight reel!
That sub stuck.... THATS old school RTS games baby! :D
Omg.. tears of laughter after his units were slaughtered by the trucks XD
I am dieing from that truck hahahahahah

thats one bad ass truck driver.

RTS Dark Souls for sure

5:30 is so fucking relatable.
I'm watching this on lunch break at work and trying very hard not to laugh too loud.
0:40 I'm starting to realize why so many of my friends who played RTS games have terrible understandings of history lol
omfg when that truck ran down your entire army i almost puked i laughed so hard...
I love these so much. Thank you, Day9. Thank you, editor. Thank you, uh... Red Alert guy?
I couldn't stop laughing
"I'm going to throw up" lol
I lost it.

Fucking hilarious. can't wait to see you finish both campaigns.
Crying from laughing so hard.
thank you I needed that laughing fit.
Yo wtf. I played the fuck out of the original back in the day + the remaster and have never seen a yak fly into the ground. LMAO
The ore truck just Tokyo Drift'd all over your dudes.
your editor needs a raise, all highlights are pure gold, even if you watched the WHOLE THING before.

I went back and played Warcraft 2 and this reminds me of how bad unit control was back then
RTS experience back in the day.. AoE --> Warcraft 2 --> Starcraft --> C&C --> OMG WTF we need to go back --> Total Annihilation
Sean finally succumbed to the Uniden effect.
I tried replaying the original last year and got stuck for a while on the nuke plant mission aswell, I wondered for a while how 9 year old me could complete that mission and I don't even remember it being hard
"ima go get water and just leave the game running"

Hahaha, I finished those campaigns in 98. Fucking brutal but so, so fun.
When the ore trucks have the highest K/D ratio of all units. looool
Yea I'm still stuck on this mission too. 😂
5:34 - DO YOU EVEN MICRO LOL
That Radar mission, took me like 7 different tries.
03:30 No! I remember that! They *can* land on ground! No idea how though
Good job editor!
this made my day, thank you! :D
4:28 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I got my missile launcher right here!
BWAHAHAHAHHA, oh my god, thank you man, that was the best laugh i had in a long time!

Programming games in the 90s must've been hard lol
8:00 HOW IS THIS THE GAME?!
Is that a Maryland Steamed Blue Crab T-shirt :)
Loading the game, 1st second of the game the oil tanks exploded and units died. Mission Failed :D hahahaha
Conclusion: The struggle is real
3:25 ahahahhahahah
Will the blue female ship, allow the red ship to dock* ... such a wasted opportunity :D
The one dislike is from the 1996 game designer
I haven't laughed that hard in a long time
HAHAHA! 1:51 I did that too :P
This was hilarious thank you Sean :)
Come on day9, you're better then a RUclips O face on your thumbnail.
Dope.
Does this mean no part 2? :(
