I’ve only been growing velvet anthuriums for a year now but its pretty much all I grow besides Hoyas. Here’s some tips that I’ve learned from my experiences with seeds- moss is definitely easier in my opinion. I have tried perlite and pon… you will absolutely destroy the roots if you allow the substrate to dry out. My favorite is putting them in a pot with chunky mix and putting them in a clear box. They’ll stay in the pot for months and you don’t run the risk of transplant shock. Also, unlike other aroids anthuriums need cool temperatures. I don’t recommend anything over 80F. They definitely will not tolerate tons of light, basically give it as much light as you would a gloriosum but never as much as you would a Thai con. Start feeding early and cal-mag is a must. Lastly, do not let them dry out!
Oh yeah, I've been sucked in by the anthurium seeds obsession! I have quite a few little boxes with little salad leaves in them 🤣 I find they propagate super easily, but getting them to grow on and size up is the tricky bit. Some are doing super well, but my precious precious little variegated ones of course are still just one tiny leaf! Gah! January 9th is on the calander because the Pallidoflorum seeds I bought will be on their way!!! The knowledgeable woman who does Shoots Galore (she's an incredible grower!) advised me to start them in seed starting mix - so I do that and I add in a heap of perlite and actually add some compost to the mix. I suspect they need feeding quite soon and that's why they slow down...hm... But that works super well. Always on heat mats or in boxes on heat mats. I've also had luck with a layer of composty aroid mix with a thin layer of moss. so they germinate in the moss then grow down into the aroid mix for nutrients. So is actually use a pair of tweezers to get them off the paper towel, and just rip a bit off with the root attached to it, all good, it'll just compost away lol!
@@petevsplants7516 Oh good point, I turn them off when the room temp gets to about 20 plus. I've been using them overnight still though, depends on how cool it gets overnight!

Lol don't do it, Jess... one thing at a time
I know this is an older video but… I’m assuming you live in Australia? I’ve just bought some seedling anthuriums in nz that were forgetii x x unknown and the picture of the mother plant was that exact same picture.. 😮 so either my dude is lying and stole the picture from your person.. or both our sellers or lying 🤔 I reverse image searched the photo before I purchased and it didn’t come up with anything so I thought I was safe but you can imagine my shock to see the image pop up on a RUclips video I’m watching!!
Wow, weird one... No idea... But yeah, I'm in Australia. I think it's pretty common that dodgy people will just google images and use those for plants their selling and not actually show the real thing, so you just have to be careful.
You should have put 10 into soil and see how they did.
I always thought you just ate a lot of Chinese food😂
Lol There may be that too
Tree fern soil

Haha I wish I could. Exporting from Aus is nearly as difficult as importing.
