Hi Jaclynn! They actually have their receptive phase first, then the pollen phase. So if you want to self-pollinate an anthurium you either need 2 flowers at the right phases or you need to collect the pollen to freeze until the next time it flowers. I believe that if you pollinate a flower, even if it is successful, it will still then go on to produce pollen. I’m not sure on that one though.

Your forgetii is so pretty. Anthurium inflorescences go into female stage first. Look for the goo, lol. Then, if not pollinated, it will go into male phase and produce pollen. ☺️
They actually do this to cut down the chances of self pollination. Nature is so cool.

I still get confused about which stage is first. Pollin or receptive. I have a palidiflorum or vitterofolium in bloom now but I have no pollen and I think it’s in the reception stage 🌱

Is there anyone in particular on RUclips you recommend to learn about collecting pollen or pollinating the Anthuriums. My Anthuriums are popping flowers all over and I would love to get started on making seeds

Do anthiriums prefer soil?
It depends mostly on what you prefer! I have some in soil and some in moss/perlite, and they both do fine!!
I put my anthiriums in the chunky sols soil and they are yellowing and I think dieing?
