- Sainsbury's brought the Perfect Christmas to the Wirral with a magical transformation. Snow, a Christmas tree, festive food and drink, the Alcester Male Voice Choir , stunning lights and decorations helped Seabank Road have the Perfect Christmas and for the finale fireworks lit up the sky on December 18th 2010.
How wonderful that must have been. Congratulations Sainsburys and a Very Merry Christmas!!!
absolutely fantastic well done we entered but obviously didn't win , but its lovely to see you all having a great xmas , well done
Merry Christmas everyone!
I think that they would have come under a better light if they had done this for people that need it more. Their target audience is middle class people though, although that doesn't make a lot of difference since middle class people I'm sure would have liked to see this go towards people that need it more.
@ Sean O'Donovan: So called 'middle class' people couldn't give a frig for anyone but themselves because they are arseholes.
Wow! Can we not just take in the moment of peace and goodwill of the video without tearing people down? Sad state of affairs these days. God Bless us everyone! Merry Christmas!
@AliJDB I still have a valid point. This isn't a nationalised TV commercial, seems a bit redundant.
How cute are Sainsbury's? :D
Like my street every christmas. :)

@cloudssix Sainsburys do a fair amount of charity, for comic and sport relief, etc. But this was part of their advertising budget, it's clearly not claiming to be doing immense amounts of good, it's supposed to be making people feel warm and fuzzy and want to go to Sainsburys and buy booze and sweets and christmas food, which an advert full of people who are underprivileged and don't have very much would not do.
@petergoudies
Peter,
how do you know about the people on this street, please? i for one know that THEY FULLY deserved this.. the party was to celebrate my 22year old best freind being allowed to come home from hospital after spending 13 months in their, due to having a massive stroke, she now suffers from 'locked in syndrome' we entered this compition to thank the neighbours and wider community that have helped us get mia home!!
Also its a compition, so obviously everyone cannot win!
Oh yes. Police men and high-viz vests. How magical.
why did they use fake snow when theres snow EVERYWHERE!!!
James Court .fake snow ..when real snow is about ...
James Court
Sorry but makes me laugh out of all the places they chose to go they chose the Wirral 😂. (I’m from Liverpool btw)
0:46 is that why I pay taxes?
@murphy341 you don't mind someone farting in your face and telling you its the wind?
You would be pretty gutted if you lived just round the corner.
Shame about the anoying music in the back ground...
Look how happy these rich white people are.
I love how they had to throw in a black (ish?) girl for racial balance.
Sainsburys, the only two face hypocrites of a supermarket!
Everyday rather than reduce the items they prefer to bin them if they do not sell for 50% to keep up their deluded impression of snobbery.
I have seen them take the items of the shelf and dispose of them in bin bags, when asked what the person was doing was informed that because they did not sell at 50% and it is the last day the items can be sold they throw them in the garbage.
Now Morrisons are exceptional, they understand not all customers have money to burn and being on low income they understand its better that the food be sold and eaten than let it go to waste. They reduce all items no matter what they are to 9p.
I have had a full cooked chicken meat joints the lot, because they would rather sell at a loss than see good food be destroyed for no other purpose than profit.
So cut the bullshit Sainsburys, you charge more for even basic items in comparison to other supermarkets, one day people will wake up to the illusion that in someway your stuff is better because its more expensive, you even use the same companies on your basics yet people are to stupid to realise they are paying more for the same products, i hope one day they wake up and you go broke!

WHY does anything ANY company or well off person does, always have to be a source of contention for so many. Does anything in your life make you even a little happy or does your happiness come from negativity and putting down others. Try seeing things through the innocent eyes of a child, ANY child>>>> you may just enjoy a moment in time.
@Seanod123 and whom, would you suggest, i dont beleive it matters on a area that a person lives in or what if any CLASS they are from, this is about a young girl her family and her street, having a treat from a vote from the general public< and why not ?
Well I thought this was lovely. What a lovely gesture. A great way to bring people together..
fireworks after November tut tut! and STOP using reindeers for stupid stunts :( what a rubbish advert.

Think it's great to see everyone together having a great time - can only be one winner - hope the cameraderie carries on into the New Year. Happy Days to all.
omg do they do this every year? if not they should!!❤️❤️🎄🎄

It matters not that this took place 7 years ago, it still gives me a warm feeling inside. Furthermore it demonstrates that there is still goodness out there. -Happy Christmas, Everyone!
if people wouldnt be selfish... those lights are expensive. they need a lot of electricity. they are POLLUTING (light pollution). birds cant find places because of strong lights. instead having small christmas tree and cute snowman in this small (part of?) town, they brought commercial LasVegas in it >.
@cloudssix
& the point is what exactly? I cannot beleive the amount of negativity at this video!!! Sainsburys ran a competition which anyone on any street could enter. Do you all react in the same way to other competition winners who win significant prizes or Lottery winners each week? Get a grip, people please!
Thank you, Sainsburys
Looks beautiful , but would have been more wonderful to have gave this to a poorer neighbourhood , or the homeless hostals where it would have been more beneficial and appreciated .
So many families cant afford a good xmas this year due to the recession and benefit cut backs.
Who’s here in dec 2020, almost 2021? Only me yeh.
Please stop with the horrible comments: The winner was my girlfriends cousin who has only just come out of hospital from having a stroke and ending in a coma with locked in syndrome. She deserved it.
I love the ads and the videos!! If I ever get across the pond, I will HAVE to stop into a Sainsbury's and check it out. Seems absolutely marvelous!!
Markies is better
@MuppetWorld My point is that Sainsbury's could have done a better job campaigning for the underprivileged. Everyone loves to see sad people get happy.
Music is fantastic
MH Spiĺ Suzi Quatro
I understand they want to advertise, but couldn't they have done this in a poorer area?
@souljaryanboy is that the most educated, comment you can make, how very sad.......
Not being picky, rather being nostalgic. I miss the old carbon filament Christmas lights. These LED's, nice as they are [I guess??], are so cold looking. They do not comfort me with what is the warmth of Christmas. Shame.
The larger ones that are shaped like the old fashioned ones you'd hang on the outside of your home are getting better, but yeah, they're really bright. It's just how intense the light from them can be sometimes. I LOVE the vibrancy of the color but sometimes they ARE just too much. I too love the softer look from the old fashioned lights. I've seen the two used together to good effect.
It's not the Alcester Choir. It's the Choir on the original Sainsbury's Perfect Christmas 2010 - Colne Valley Male Voice Choir, Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire. I should know I am a member and sang at the original recording for the advert. The sound was repeated for "............the Winning Street" D. Hirst
Goodie9137
Music was special arrangement of All Through the Night - actually recorded by Colne Valley Male Voice Choir from Huddersfield.
Christmas is always a good day
This is what people need in neighborhoods where they're not wealthy.Or they don't have the money for presents and food and decorations.That's where it needs to be done.Because even our young are in those neighborhoods too people forget sometimes
I don't see anyone complaining when companies advertise without doing anything nice for people - why complain when they advertise by giving stuff away for free?
Sainsbury's are there to make a profit, so they're going to try and make a profit, obviously.
If you don't like it, don't tell others about it or don't think about it - guaranteed if your street was given this you wouldn't turn it down because 'it's just a business advertising'...
Old videoz 😢
I'm not surprised that it's a middle class suburban street in England that won. (perhaps an estate or a homeless shelter may have been more in need, however the winners are the target customers). I am aware that various Sainsbury's shops in the city in which I live actively and consistently raise money for various charities all year round and they are also primarily a business.
the xmas spirit is alive and well!
I was at this
i would just like to say thank you so much to Sainsburys and everyone involved for creating such a perfect night for us..
If any of you are unsure if we deserved it, have a look at mountinsformia
oh and we did have real snow, the fake snow was there to make it look extra special.. and it was around minus 9.. cold.. thank god for the heaters.
Merry Christmas everyone :)
@murphy341 don't you get the point? they did something nice with a hidden motive. its designed in such a way to play on your emotions and it has worked on you. to claim it hasn't shows you are in obvious denial.
I bet you will mention this to at least 1 other person and say how nice it was, which is exactly what they want. its designed to exploit you in such a subtle way you would not even notice it.
@cloudssix It's still part of their advertising budget, and they may be planning to use it for next years run of christmas adverts, since they did it so close to christmas.
The alternative is paying a bunch of actors to stand around on a rented street in mid-August to pretend to enjoy some food and watch some fireworks, which would cost more and do less good, at least this way some allbeit comfortable middle class people got some free stuff they probably enoyed
@puretroubleman It's called capitalism, and the very fact you're sitting on a computer typing away on youtube means you're as much a part of it as anyone else. If you don't like it you'll have to go live on a desert island somewhere and catch your own food.
I don't know why people find this worse than any other form of advertising, they could've paid a bunch of actors to sit round drinking mulled wine and watching fireworks, are least this way some real people get some nice things.
Looks amazing!
its rather sickening, the reason for doing this is not to give people a great Christmas but as a form of advertising and we are supposed to be the messengers.
The only reason why any private company does anything is to obtain profits. if they really wanted to do good they would share a large portion of their profits with the general public, but why would they do that?
@AngelTheTigress But that wouldn't have made a good advert, it would make people sad that there are homeless people out there even at christmas and it wouldn't make them wanna buy stuff from sainsburys. This was advertising, not a do-good project.
@bushnut568
I never said they braught anyone in, learn to read.
They had to show a black(ish?) girl for about 3 seconds for racial balance. Like I said, look how happy these rich white people are.
why use fake snow, England has been hit badly this year....seems like a waste to me when 4 days later its blizzards up and down the country!!! haha every little helps, except for Asda!
@frostykillsandalex Because watching an advert with poor people who don't have anything for christmas doesn't make you want to rush out and buy pringles and booze from Sainsburys.
forget - that some poeple hate this time of the year.....
Dead Pool America
My mum hates it because of the stress
Sainsburys did a fantastic job. The street looked magical. I hope everyone enjoyed the experience it was a lovely idea. HAPPY CHRISTMAS everyone
I think the street looks wonderful but I also could not help but wish it had gone to a less affluent looking neighbourhood who might, possibly, have needed it more. Those big houses, wide street, and so on do make a perfect picture and advert for Sainsbury's, don't they?
@davelumby
The Wirral being a peninsular is surrounded by water on three sides and therefore doesn't get much snow, the only time it has snowed here for any significant time was Friday 17th December for 1 hour leaving at most 3/4 inches of snow and that was not everywhere!!
Can I say that this WAS filmed last Saturday night - I was at a party in the next street & we loved the firework display that was set off in the field between the 2 streets! - & there was snow - about 4 inches fell on the Wirral on Friday night but less by the shore where this was filmed....
So, instead of helping a lot of underprivileged people who have never experienced a proper Christmas, Sainsbury's helped a street of relatively well off people have a slightly different Christmas. Good job Sainsbury's, good job.
Nice but not with fire works that is horrible and scared for animals .
@claireycole
it was won on behalf of a girl who had a major stroke just weeks after her 21st birthday and now is paralysed and has locked in syndrome! NOT A FIX!
Oh well done to the street that won.I entered too,but didnt get the support clicks! You must have got a lot of support well done!! It looks fantastic ;)
Why did use need atrificial snow, the whole of Briton is covered. We are freezing out butts off here in N.Ireland. When did all this happen anyway...?
What a gorgeous street, I tried and failed, but how lovely. It looks tremendous. Lucky street. Wish I'd gotten a Hamper! Merry Christmas everyone.
wow! when I saw Seabank Road in the email I wondered if it would be the one near where I grew up but thought it was just a coincidence - well done guys!
What a fantastic sight. Just wish it had been me but unfortunately my street is covered in snow as is vertually impassable. Best wishes to all.
I like the way Sainsburys is thinking, " everyone should have a perfect christmas" but nah, instead we are only going to do one street.
Looks great Seabank Road, well done, Wishing all your road a Super Christams and a healthy New year. Enjoy being spoilt. Jill x
well by the looks of it they hadn't had any snow - hence the fake snow!!!!!!!!!! did u not see the before/after footage???
i don't think that they got that it was going to snow a foot of real snow the next day
@cath1503
For those who are posting cynical comments Google Mountains For Mia. That should be enough humble you!
Looks just PERFICK! Hope you all enjoyed yourselves!
Would like to wish you all a happy and healthy 2111.
It's somewhat strange that this street has no natural snow while much of Liverpool received 6" on 17th December!
Looks great Seabank Road, well done, Wishing all your road a Super hristams and a healthy New year. Jill x
@cloudssix
It was a competition that ANYONE could have entered as I did on the Sainsburys website!
@petujaymz
Pretty sure there were a couple included in the video actually.
its good to see big compaines helping....about time to. just dont bail out the parasites (Bankers)
You think this is amazing, pls wait until you see London Eye fireworks 2011
Sainsbury’s Try something new Today
It’s not very realist, start of the video shows a Sainsbury’s Van delivering in the snow!
How come if the competition finished on 10 December the Police were wearing poppies?
eWe shouldďn't I 2nd have be 154 1
*this was filmed 12 years ago. damn.*
I imagine Seabank Road doesn't have to have artificial snow now for Christmas!
they don't call it GREAT Britain for nothing so homesick this is making me cry love it so much xxxxxxxxxxxxxmas
We entered, gutted we didn't win but fair play Seabank Road, it looked fab!
Search Omer Giramondo for this man's perfect Christmas
Why not send all Hampers to all our troops serving in Afganistan ???
Money.
All they care for.
Don't be misguided.
Why not send all our troops serving in Afganistan a Hamper too ??
This is cool.
If they waited another day, there woudl have been real snow!!!
(Original) Fosters Ashes Advert ,is better!
promotional nothing more, but seriously sainsbury seem nice
