How Many Frames Should My Animation Have?

- I've been asked quite a lot about how I make my animations seem "smooth".
Beyond all the principles and theory of animation, there is one very simple thing required to get your movements looking more crisp:
MORE FRAMES
Yep, that's pretty much it.
Just create more frames.
Instead of drawing 20 frames at 10 frames per second.
Do 40 frames at 20 frames per second.
Does this mean twice the work?
Well, I talk about that in this video (spoiler: the answer is no, not always).
Anyways, all of this really depends on what style you're trying to achieve, and how much effort you want to put into things.

thank you

Much appreciated 👍
Lol. “Due to my immaturity”
I'll grow up some day, just maybe not today

@@nootall did you mature already??? just curious
@@punpudle8865 Nah sorry I still have a baby brain. Will need a few more years I reckon.
I actually caught you saying "smooth" and "smoother" in this one xD
Damn - looks like I'm gonna have to some editing and reuploading :/
xD GL with that! @@nootall
That is a great way to smoth things out, thanks for this!
Whoaa, your art is reminiscent of Pokemon Black and White sprites, awesome job!!
Wait now that you mention it I can totally see that lol.
I must have been unconsciously trying to recreate the good ol' days.
Ohhh, so smoth
That's what she said.
dude, u're awesome, it's so smooth your animations, thanks for bring this video! Congratz!!!
Hey thanks man, that means a lot 🙏
You too are awesome 😎
Brilliant! Really want to see your making first 10 frames video! ^^
Thanks! In the future, I'll probably do some time lapses / videos of me making stuff from scratch where you'll be able to see those first frames being created 👍
@@nootall Thank you! I'm learning pixel art to making my own game. Your channel really inspiring me alot.
Subbed to support Nootall the Smothimator.
Very helpful. Thank you.
Awesome!!
me when smoth:
KEEEEEP UPP THAAAT ENERGY MAN
thanks
Never seen a smother animation before
12 fps is also too much for me . I usually able to draw 1minute animation
If a punch is thrown over 24 frames a sec, that would be a super slow punch. So question is----- if it doesn't take 1 sec to through a punch and say three punches are thrown in that sec over 24 frames, does that mean each punch needs to take up less frames ? And if "yes" then how do we stick to the 24 FPS rate over an animation?
for a punch to look super slow, it takes about 240fps..like if we consider iphone slow motion camera..it records at 240fps in 1080p. 24 frames in a second is nothing..it won't look super slow..just imagine stuffing 24 frames in a second..each frame barely gets any time to be displayed.
How do you get the frame rate in fps in aseprite instead of milliseconds?
Mmmm I don't think you can as far as I'm aware. A bit of math is needed if you want to get a certain fps 🥸
@@nootall thanks!
What software is this, if you don’t mind me asking?

Sub-pixeling gonna make it more better
