The skills required depend on what you are trying to do. In my case, I was trying to streamline some of our workflows with BIM 360, so I just worked with the BIM 360 API and Data Management API, which didn't require much coding experience. I used Postman and Python mostly. On the other hand, if you want to develop your own apps or automate Revit workflows, you will need more web dev and coding experience.
Another fantastic resource is just the Autodesk Forge site. You can search the documentation and read about the other APIs there.
