Fair play on this for sure, I like Jeff Nippard's view on this too where he goes 1x Bench, 1.5x Squat & 2x Deadlift. For me just now I'm 68kg and got a 70kg Bench, 130kg at 2 reps for squat and 170kg for Deadlift.
If you set up a pull up bar in the middle of a shopping centre, I reckon 2/100 will be able to do 1 pullup and none more than 5, people already tried public bench and pushups and the results were crazy, people who go to the gym regularly are already miles head of people who don't lift at all.
The fact that the requirements for Bench and Squat are the same makes absolutely no sense at all 🤣 Another awesome idea for a video though. Absolutely love the content, Reev. Also: Theo's such a great guest, as always. Love the guy.
yeah they arent even fucken close lmao, a 1.5x bodyweight squat can be hit by 90% of consistent gym goers in 1-3 years. i reckon only 10% of consistent gym goes would hit 1.5x pull up in that time
Just tried these and I was no where close on the pull up. The rest was okay but I also had to pull a Theo on the deadlift cause my back is messed up. Thanks for the entertaining video and great motivation
I actually think 80% of guys that go gym regularly would be able to do the bench, squat and deadlift relatively easily. The weighted pull up I’d say maybe 3% would be able to do 😂 I actually think most would struggle to do over 12 standard pull ups
You can turn the trap bar upside down and you'll get the same range of motion/starting position as a deadlift would be btw 😁 since he is using the handles and basicly start like 10cms higher. Well done doe.
The bench and squat weights being the same seems wild. I would assume any able bodied young person should be able to squat more than their bodyweight without training, whereas a bodyweight bench is pretty impressive
At my gym we have student who are new to lifting all the time, I can tell you for sure that almost all of them can't bench even close to bw to start with. I see some guys struggle with 30kg. As for squats, very few people actually squat at the gym (a large uni gym) so it is very feasible that 95% of the population can't do this either as an extremely small % of the worlds population has ever tried squatting with any sort of weight.
Correct titel of the video: Top 0.5% Strength Of Population Test In the United States, approximately 60 million people are members of gyms, with an estimated 60% being men. This means there are about 36 million men who regularly go to the gym. Assuming that only 5% of these men are capable of deadlifting twice their body weight, this translates to around 1.8 million men who can achieve this level of strength. Considering the total population of the U.S., which is approximately 331 million, we can calculate that about 0.54% of the overall population can deadlift twice their body weight. This figure primarily reflects men, as we assume that virtually no women are capable of reaching this particular strength standard.
The pull up is so difficult compared to the rest lol. I can’t do any atm anyway due to an injury that just won’t go away : ( everything else good though
It's insane to me that numbers we wouldn't even put you in the intermediate category of strength would put you in the top 5%. A double bodyweight deadlift is a nice milestone, but you'd expect most men to squat and bench their bodyweight within 3 months of joining a gym.
Looks like every person has a different 5% of the population, given that they don't agree on the factor for the exercises. Seen 1,5x squat often and 2x dealift just as well, among other combinations. It's also interesting that the top 5% of the population numbers are also the same that are named by trainers to be good goals for everyone. Perhaps this implies that only 5% of the population are ok strength. Which maybe isn't a surprise, some people are strong but not accustomed to the exercises in question technically, and most people are just very untrained in strength. I recall also seeing numbers like 1,5x bench, 2x squat and 2,5x deadlift for athletes.

Bench and squat are ridiculously easy; deadlift is more challenging; p/u with half your bodyweight hanging from you is way harder than any of the other three.
I wonder do you include categories such as little babies, 80 year old seniors, and women to the world population figure that you are comparing yourself to?🤔
Those numbers you mentioned would probably apply to be in the top 5% of men who actively go to the gym. As reev stated, the majority of the population don't even go to the gym. The average man can't even bench press their own body weight.
These strength standards aren't impressive. It only proves how extremely weak the general population is. The trap bar deadlift is also a much easier lift than a normal deadlift so you should be able to to pull way more on a trap bar. So you aren't really comparing apples to oranges.
strength doesnt actually care about bodyweight, like even if you can squat 3 times your body weight, i could squat 1.5 and im stronger if its more, its also a fully just made up statistic to begin with
