Your videos are great Marty. There is something in your voice that’s soothing (I’m a dad of two girls who make a lot of noise 🙉) So looking and listening to someone who is doing slotact stuff is very relaxing 😅
Greeting from Perth Australia I am learning right alongside you Marty as I have no idea about tuning a car . I have always been a run what you brung sort of racer much to the detriment of my cars. I am enjoying the journey.
Thanks for another interesting video. My Son and I started Racing Sideways cars at the local wood track club. They are great cars but do need a little love to set up in most cases. Some G5 cars come with a split in the crown gear, check that. Also the clearances around the pinion, rear tyre, motor shaft can be tight, check nothing is touching :) The Sideways GT cars are run in a stock class, great for us noobs and the cars have survived some big offs too. Really envy your track space, we have a tiny oval to check the wheels go round before club nights! Keep 'em coming :)
Thanks Dad Dex! Just finished a layout rebuild a few weeks ago..loving the new track design! I will check the M1 for the crown gear issue.. it just doesn't have the speed.
@@twolinesslotcars Oh, did you take the exhaust off yet? they prize off 'nicely'. They drag in the corners that is what you can hear...... We are learning a lot at the club, our G5 cars now have Slot it motor pods and all wheels/ tyres changed and trued, the guide it a screw in \sloting Plus one and my skyline has a little ballast either side of the guide. They are much easier to drive and faster now. I would delete the digital plug, the body is easily tipped by it as the body only mounts by those two central screws... Our first rounds in the club G5 league are tonight, so hopefully they will stay in one piece.
The good thing about Sideways cars is they come with lots of Slot It stuff in them. The bad thing about Sideways cars is that includes the pretty terrible Slot It guide. I'm a full convert to Sloting Plus guides for Sideways and Slot It cars after I saw Jorge (I think it was) mention them in one of his videos. I do love a well set up Sideways car though, lots of fun to drive :) Check the tyres for body rub in corners, I found with my Zakspeed Escort I had to put all the float in the pod and keep the body screws pretty tight, any body float at all was making a scrape noise and it was tyre rub when cornering hard.
I put a new guide on it. I also forgot to mention I put 4g of weight just in front of the motor. I was having problems with tire run on the M1.. but have not had that issue with the Nissan.
I love the car, it looks sweet. I only have stock Carrera cars at the moment and my tuning consited of replacing the tires with Quick Slicks, adding oil and lubrication. but im forever learning. Thanks for sharing
I only have a couple of Sideways and found them difficult to run well. Your video inspires me to give them another go; after the other half dozen or more cars I have queued for repaint/rebuilds! The latter is becoming my favorite part of the hobby now - always something new to dabble in. Keep up the good work, Marty!
Love the content I’m just getting into tuning as well. I love the Skyline I have several of the wide body BMW 320 turbo cars. Every one of them drag the track. They are so low but that’s what I love about them. Wide and low. For me it’s the front spoiler that drags. I’ve really noticed that either changing the guide flag to SI or Frankenslot makes a huge difference in performance. I’ve also taken a stock flag and filed the vertical leading edge more rounded and tapered the bottom of the flag about a 1/16” x 1/4” creating a taper upward towards the front. Makes a massive difference in smoothness in the slot. Hence faster.
Great looking car I also have lots of problems with my sideways m1 that I got in 2008 but I will try and tune it now that I have a little more experience
The dragging, I push the car slowly by hand around the banking here, to see where its dragging. But I have high banking, and the ups and downs also cause dragging. I tightened the pod screws and the body screws and most of the scraping went away.....on 3 different Slot it cars. Which surprised me but hey it works, Im driving the Slot its way more now and figuring them out. The anglewinder Mazda slot it is way fast, way. The motor drags on it. Other Slot its the body drags in front.
Hiya Marty, lo e the Nissan, livery is awesome. Simple tuning. Note about gluing wing. Imo opinion. Just a touch from under the body. Found that when you launch the car out of the Grove, the wing snaps off, it's much easier to file off spot of the glue from under the body and easier to remove if there is the piece of wing mount that may be sitting in the wing slot on the body. To myself it makes sense, not sure if it will make sense to others..
Great video. I don't have any Sideways cars but I just got my Revo Porsche Gt2 so it will be an interesting run. Hopefully I can do the basic tuning like you just did to get that car dialed in. Thanks
I have one Revoslot.. the Ferrari 333SP.. and it is such a fun car to drive and really easy to tune. Watch @Area51RacewayNC revoslot tuning videos.. you will have that thing flying around the track. I plan to pick up another Revo soon! I just can't decide..
@@CurvyRoadSlotCars I know, right! My list at the moment.. Revoslot Group 2, Thunderslot Mustang, NSR 908, new livery just released this week, SLotIt Porsche 962 Hexcel.... to name a few..
I have to do about 20 laps slow with a fast slot it car, and work up gradually to going faster. This Sideways car looks similar. Gotta get the feel and 1/2 throttle is enough to launch them to the moon.
Great video Marty! The track really looks complete and neat, with the rest of the boarders- even though you probably took out a second mortgage to get them- ha! With the different speed between both cars- are the gear ratios the same? ct
Clint, I think the gearing is the same. I am wondering if I have some tire rub going on under the car? I will check that in the M1. Yes, boarders are not cheap 🤦🏻♂️ but man it looks great..

Joseph! I would love to see some of these repaint/rebuilds! Yes, i am learning something new about the hobby at every turn! Thanks!
Nice 🎉❤cool setup!! In the cave for boy’s 😊😅
Thanks Martin! Yes, 1800's Victorian Home= OLD BASEMENT :) but it is very dry and comfortable. Plenty of room for my layout!
G'day Marty, beautiful car sideways Nissan. Out of the box they run great , fantastic review Marty
Thanks Rhys! It is a fun car!! Love the livery!
I'm liking your entrance to pit road. I'm thinking of a similar configuration of entering before the turn.
It really forces people to slow down.. we have lots of accidents entering pitlane.. 😂

Rahul, after some side by side testing.. I think I have fixed my M1’s problems… the motor is a dog compared to the Nissan.. 🤷🏻♂️
Nice Skyline Marty. Your review is making me want to get one. Dang it! Lol. See you soon.

I will try that Dafingers1.. I have glued other wings with CA glue from underneath.. seems to work well. Great advice!
@Marty Ford was just.a small thought..silly me
Hi, can you race the sideways slot cars on the Carrera Evolution tracks. Or we starter set do you recommend to race sideways slot cars.
Travis, yes.. you can run Sideways on Carrera Evolution. That is an analog track system and Sideways cars are analog.
