We always want more!😂 That turned out great, and of course we never have enough track or cars! Nice job, time to enjoy.scratch build some cars ? thanks for sharing.👍🤠🏎️🏎️🏎️
I too built a permanent slot track, albeit in a more confined space (7'×4'), but with scenery being at the core. Coming from a background of model railways, I've tried to use that level of scenery. Like you I have found the Magnetic Racing range of models, with heavy modification to be about the best currently available, along with various items from the Slot Track Scenics range adding the realism. By necessity, scratch building is the only way for remaining structures given space, constraints, and location etc. I use Scalextric digital, with the C7030 powerbase which usefully allows for pacer cars. By sticking to no less than radius 2 curves, it's possible to set pacer cars running at all but unbeatable speeds for racing on your own! By soldering feeder wires from each track piece to the next at the time of construction it has avoided any of the power drop issues that can plague Scalextric track parts, and given my track is completely permanent, was essential during construction. The use lahe changing tracks and a pit lane - very very short, gives a great added dimension, and of course allows more than two cars racing at any one time. In fact using the pacer car function it's quite feasible to race against two pacer cars. Finally through the Powerbase I can also run the RCS64 race manager, although I usually stick to the various race options that are built in to the C7030 Powerbase. Interestingly for me the biggest challenge was to build the baseboards and whole track so that it can be disassembled in to 4 quarters, which required scenic and track breaks to be used throughout. The baseboards (hardboard with associated 2"×1" battening) are held together with coach bolts, and plug and connectors for the electrics - track and lights etc. The layout was broadly finished about four years ago, with some scenery changes and details added since. I have to say, although it was designed to be disassembled for storage that has yet to happen! I race a range of different 99% touring cars, from various brands with the likes of Revoslot, NSR, Carerra, and a Le Man's miniature Bentley slot car - too detailed to race! Whilst the likes of RevoSlot would undoubtedly be faster on say an mdf club track, mostly the stock Scalextric cars are the quickest on this very small track. Good to see another enthusiast going down the permanent detailed slot track route, and I will be sure to keep an eye on your developments!
I love this track, and this channel for that matter :) Scratch built scenery with cannibalised magnetic racing kits... yeh you know I love that too :) :) Keep it up, look forward to more content :)
Great video (obviously we are bias) you’ve done an awesome job putting your own touches and colour schemes to the pit walls and goodwood building. I’m also local to goodwood - about 20 minutes away in Petersfield.
Love the green personally, brings it to life. Also the tig welding sticks on the pit walls, great idea, where the holes big enough or did you need to drill them out at all?
A nice fast club circuit coming along nicely, did you ever fancy going Carrera digital then you could have just had the one track width for more chicanes/bends, also wire it up to run analogue cars as well (I have done that lol) also would love to go MDF track cos like u said are smooth & can make yr own bends up👍
Thank you, I thought long and hard about analog or digital and I decided on analog because I wanted friends to be able to just put their old cars on the track and race without having to install a chip, plus those chips get expensive! Yeah I could switch from analog to digital but then I’d only have 2 lanes analog, so I decided on 4 lanes analog in the end. Who knows, I might change my mind in the future 🤣
liking the pit area stuff, never got into the scenic side with the stuff I had (always had to be easy to take down again), adds a lot to it as for lap timing, I built my own, that was for digital so was amusing, a basic "just count and time laps" thing isn't that hard to do, some sort of infrared beam sensor in the slot for the blade to cut wasn't that hard to do. once you have it can do whatever with it, a small Arduino type board will do two tracks easily, some of the marginally more advanced boards (still under a fiver) can do many more. either have that drive a screen or talk to like a Raspberry Pi Zero talking to a HDMI screen
Going to a MDF track would be nice, you could put in more accurate cornering lines for the lanes and close up the distance between them (that would eliminate 1/24 scale) your at a tipping point, think of all the work you’ve put in on this layout, is it worth starting all over again. Please don’t take the Mazda out of the room. Just center it on the wall it’s on, if you can. And lunch king has a layout that’s unbelievable.
Dave from SlotR sent me. I am not disapointed. Fantastic setup and scenery. Congrats dude🎉🎉 looking forward to more content
Thank you, and thanks to Dave for sending you over 👍🏻
Thanks for the tour of your track and showing us the updates. I really like the pit garage and the green fencing.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks, I’m glad you like it!

That’s true, we always want more space
Track is stunning and the diorama parts are really killing it!!!! Great work!!!!!
Thanks, it’s getting there

Wow, that sounds like a fantastic set up!
You have a fantastic layout and your content is right up my street, scratch build is a religion! 😂 Please keep your content coming!!!
Thank you, I’m glad you are liking the track and content
Dave from SlotR gave you a shout out and just subbed great track mate Tony from Australia. Keep having fun.
Hey, thanks for having a look and subscribing, I’ll have to give Dave a big thanks for sending so many people over
Layout’s coming along nicely. Great work. 😎👍🏁🎉
Hi Shane, yeah it’s getting there, I’m loving how yours is coming together!
Awesome track and scenery keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!

@@Scalehectic enjoying it so much I told all my friends today, I think some of them have turned up already 😁
Excellent, thank you!
@Scalehectic Merry Christmas, happy new year :)

Thanks 👍🏻
Just found your channel. What a great track ..
Thank you, glad you like the track
That’s a lovely circuit for racing!
Thanks, that was the idea, a nice flowing fast track

Hi Doug,
Thanks for the comment and products, I’ll see you at gaydon on Saturday, I assume you guys will be there? I’ll say hi!!
@ hey hey! Yes we’ll be there , see you then.
We’re bringing the Zombie track so you’ll be able to set a time on that too.
@@Scalehecticyou up at Gaydon today?
Sorry I only just saw your replies here, I was there yes, I kept a low profile 🤣🤣
@Scalehectic ahhh cool we had you a custom pit wall half gantry with the Girling logo on. 👍👍 Hope you had a great Christmas
Mate, your layout looking fantastic 👌.
Thank you, I appreciate it
Jimmy from Lunch King was way ahead of his time, 1st lane change system he built on his own, switching ac/dc power, genius.
Omg, sooo ahead of his time!
Love the green personally, brings it to life. Also the tig welding sticks on the pit walls, great idea, where the holes big enough or did you need to drill them out at all?
Thank you, no o didn’t need to drill the holes out at all, they slid right in 🙂
Pits are well done, very nice.
Thank you very much!

Thanks, I’m glad you like what I have done so far, and I need to look into the lap timing properly
Gantry was a good idea, I'll give that some thought.
Thanks, it worked out surprisingly well and was easy to do
Why 4 lanes everywhere? In and out of 2 to 3 and back switching which give turn advantages create better fun. Looks I want but fun is my need.
I’m not running digital, so I can’t do that really
Digital is it. Try it once and lane changing while chasing or winning is #1.
To be honest, I just wanted the simplicity of analog

Yeah, I need to decide really, and as you say, it’s a time issue really.
Yea, but you can run the big girls with Carrera!
Yeah that is true, I just don’t think I will
@@Scalehectic I only run 124 or scratch built 125.
But, I'm thinking about building a wood oval outside in my lanai.
That would be cool!!
