Thanks Willem! I had a ton of trouble learning to use this extension because some of the other tutorials weren't as clear as I'd like. I'm trying to make all of my flowify tutorials super simple!
One issue I was having is I was making a group of the ENTIRE arch, meaning the sides. Which were three items and it wasn't working. ONLY the face of the arch is made into a group.
Thank you very much for this! this is the first tutorial I'm getting it to work with! Now, if I could only figure out what I'm doing wrong with what I want it for...
@@Thesketchupessentials Indeed! I did eventually figure out what it was, I had a too sharp curve on my object so Sketchup registered it as two entities instead of segments, the moment I made the curve a bit smoother everything worked perfectly!
Hi hopefully you see this because I'm struggling after following all the steps. My issue is after flowify, some of my imposed geometry is filling in and then not separating from its face and lines so i cannot delete the faces that got filled :( could it be that my flowify grid is too wide? i don't see an option to edit this...
This does happen sometimes - I don't have a super clear answer on this one. You might try scaling your model up 10X, running the flowify, then scaling it back down and seeing if that gives you a better result
Hi, does it matter if the path lines going down are not vertical, but going inwards symmetrically. My curved object is deeper so the curve is stronger. Thank you.
Would this be a suitable tool to bend objects or patterns around less curved shapes? Say for example, using a 12 side polygon that will serve as your base bending face.
Hi Justin, thanks a ton for teaching us through your extremely informative tutorials! I have been tryoing to create a pattern of small triangles using flowify on a curved wall (made using 2 point arc tool). Although i am able to successfully flowify other shapes , i am still not able to do for triangle pattern. I am able to impose grid though ( So i assume my grouping is right). I dont get any error msg and on zooming out the mode; enlarges in scale without patterns flowifyied. Pls help
VERY nice .. Thanks for the info. I am new to Sketch-up and intend to use it to design wooden furniture pieces. I was wondering f there is a way to come up with a bill of material (list of components that make up the final object). Is this feature available in SU? if not, what is the closest to this? thanks again
Hi, I hv a question about performing a similar task like this, but instead of having the pattern laying on top, can you make it cut into (engraved) the curved face?
That's an interesting question. Probably the easiest way to do that would be to model it above as if it was already engraved on the face, then bend that along the curve. Does that make sense?
nice tutorial... hey, I have a question, can you help me? I have a pattern, and I want to add the pattern into a lamp shade, how could I do that? Thanks a lot
coool , and i have a question how to import a 3d Autocad model into sketchup .I model everything in sketchup put i received Autocad model from a vendor and I wanna adjust it in sketchup , thxx
I believe CAD import and export are a pro feature - more info here - help.sketchup.com/sv/article/3000165 - I haven't done a ton with CAD files in SketchUp - thanks for watching!
Every face in SketchUp has a front face and a back face - by default the front faces are white, and the back faces are gray. It's generally good modeling practice to always have your front face facing outward, otherwise you can get some weird results in rendering programs, etc. Did that help?
Each of Justin's video teaches me a lot. They are really clear, well structured and very informative.
Very clear and useful video😊
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! Will download at once. However, can Floify also project onto a sphere? Not just a cylinder?
Great video again Justin! One of the few that explain this extension well.

Hi justin , i think it would be brtter to have more video about flowify to understand well
"This name ny this person " 😂😂😂 that was cute.
But really amazing work. I watch every video from you. You ate legend.
I always like these videos before even watching them!
Thank you very much!
You're a good teacher.
Thanks very much - I appreciate it!
You are amazing *-* thanks you very much for the video^^🌸
Thanks for watching!
Great video... I see a lot of uses for it. Thanks Justin.
Thanks for watching Gerrit!
Thanks!
No problem!
Thank you VERY nice as always
thank you so much , very good job ❤❤

well, till 10 mins ago I wasn't able to use it!!! thanks again!!
Awesome - glad you got it running!
Can you show how to make a round pathway, with a ramp on top that goes up and down? I am struggling a lot :(

@@Thesketchupessentials actually what worked was copying the linework into the same exact spot and then deleting the faces :)

Does this work with spheres?

very good video! great help!
Thanks Nanetta!

As long as they have 4 corners
I grouped all the three individual groups together and click on "Flowify" and I get a " Not enough imput" Error...How do I fix this ?
Generally this error means you don't have your grouping set up properly, or your target shape doesn't have 4 corners...

It would require you to set up your model in a very specific way using groups and components
how do you increase subdivision on impose grid, i need more smoother surface. thanks
I'm not aware of a way to do this
@@Thesketchupessentials Hi Justin, i got it. the subdivision depends on the segment of the arch created.

Install the extension

GREAT VIDEO THANKS GOD BLESS
THANKS
thank you!
how to do this around a sphere ?
While sending the command the error shows up saying that the source geometry group must contain raw faces.. what should i do?
Your grouping is wrong and your source geometry group has a group inside of it. It can ONLY contain raw geometry
@@Thesketchupessentials oh okay. thank youu so much
i couldn't do it right impose grid doesn't produce grid on my top rectangular face
yeah i did it !!😁

i followed the same process and it never works out. tried all the solutions in the comments! group, smothed, remade..how can i make it work?

Usually means that your groups aren't set up properly
you say too much and make it too fast at important point
