Misha thought it wasn't stock, but at the time of publishing this video (let alone recording which would have been earlier), Golf 8 R tunes weren't on the market yet (i know this because i own one). This car was probably stock, it just has great acceleration and of course the DSG. Remember these cars are capable of 7:50 - 7:40ish BTG. I personally would love to let Misha drive my 8 R but it has warranty until 2026, so no track mods.

pro for long gear: you can stay in 3rd or 4th gear and dont have to shift much and the bmw still gives you the power you need to accelerate (except for slower parts of the track)

Must be quite satisfying being so used to a track that even if you're dazzled by the sun you can still follow the ideal line thanks partly to muscular memory and feeling the bumps. Not like I've done it in my local roads when the situation needed it... didn't I? =P

So a mate of mine sent me this because he randomly spotted me - I was in the Lotus you passed at around 9:13. I distinctly remember this moment out of many days spent at the Nordshleife because the rear wheels got huge air over the bump straight afterwards under braking - that's why old mate reacts in the car.. haha!

I have a question and thought maybe people here would answer because it's track driving related and can't find anything online, and they did talk about it in this video. Is there any inconvenients of running higher temp capable brake fluid ? I'm gonna do a brake upgrade some day on my e36 and the price difference between rbf660 and rbf700 (what this guy used on this m4, which is why I thought of asking) is barely anything, so I thought I'd get the higher temp resistant one, but the fact they're almost the same price with a big difference between the temp made me wonder of why is the 660 still even a thing if the 700 is that much better so I wonder if there's also other differences and potentially inconvenients.
@@imnota you feel the differnce so much! Had the normal BMW fluid on one trackday and had a very scary moment were the pedal just dropped and my seats almost turned brown 😆. But even if you go with 660 or 700 its suuuuch and upgrade 😃
Why you have engine mode efficient and not ? sport plus the car is not on full horsepower on efficient . Efficient mode is for super market . Great lap tho . ❤

Misha question. Do you have to stay in shape for driving?. Or just a normal gym workout is fine for nurburgring driving. Or do you do a specific racing workout like formula 1 drivers.
The efficient mod of the engine was not affecting the power ? Like valve closed ? Because mine change à lot, between Efficient And sport plus, it’s an other car 😅

Just a rule of thumb.. Manual vs dsg you need +50hp more too keep up. Golf R was stock just more efficient drive.

Never noticed how much rev-hang the S55 really has, the competition/DCT models really hide that, but in the manual it's really obvious.
I also have an f82 manual, I suspect that the rev matching is getting in the way as the only way to turn it off is to put in in Sport+ throttle.

11:25 I've had 2.2 in my cup2 tyres on my r35 and not even for track usage ^^
I have heard that cup 2 are very sensible below 2 bar. So rather high than low

Here in sweden its very cold but the RBF700 is amazing even if its cold or hot. Just go with the 700 and change it every year 😃

Yeah after the lap i drove with 2.6 in the back and 2.4 in the front for the rest of the week ☺️. You could learn soooo much from these guys ☺️❤️
So the nice lowered look and the better handling, better than the stock soft handling, is only due to H&R lowering springs??

I think most modern manuals have rev hang due to emissions control strategies.
The car rev matches on upshift which can give the impression of rev hang. All of that goes away if you put it in “Sport Plus”

Rev hang on my Ford Focus is tolerable. Rev hang on a BMW M3/M4 is unacceptable.
Gonna change something next year

@@twbigfoothd269 So what are you going to do? I know in my car it rev hags because of a heavy fly wheel, and engine tuning for greater inertia for coasting which creates better fuel economy.
