Another sterling example of the exquisite Key / Foot board artistic magic of Cameron Carpenter. Thank you Cameron for sharing your gifts with us! Aloha nui loa.
I can't decide if i should report this video for: Violent or repulsive content Hateful or abusive content Spam or misleading or Infringes my rights I wish I could just choose more than one....
As a young man I used to be a well-known musician, but in later years I realise the people who said; ‘slow down and feel the groove’ were correct! That was the point when I also became a ‘good’ musician. This chap will no doubt be a great musician at some point (when he learns that genuine feel is worth 10X flash and show).
C'est une création ! La Suite pour violoncelle revisitée, et de quelle manière. Un grand artiste. Il ne joue pas à la Philharmonie de Berlin sans raison.
Bah Humbug to all the naysayers! I wish I had a tenth of Mr. Carpenter's talent and ability. To those who say that this performance made Bach roll over in this grave, I say Bach was dancing in this grave! I love it when people take Bach's music in various directions, and I believe Bach loves it as well!
Ability yes, lots. Talent: even less than the 10% you would want to acquire. Carpenter should devout himself to writing & performing his OWN music... Taking Bach in new directions is ok but this direction needs a distortion guitar pedal... There is just nothing new here other than "Brutal"...
During his lifetime Bach did not have that techniccal possibilities Carpenter has today. He lived in the stone-age of piano building. I am sure he would gave a thumbs up for Cameron.
I just hope he played it exactly how he intended it to sound because then we would know we're not in the same place emotionally to accept this piece as a great performance.
+cc steamer I think you are right. That being said I think he should really stick to creating his own original pieces since what he's doing here is clearly offending the vast majority of those commenting.
The problem is that it's not about the music, it's about Cameron. The Bach isn't even well-played; wouldn't people rather just hear Paul Tortellier playing it properly?
+Dieter Müller ehh as far the metronome goes yes but your logic for the organ and players make 0 sence.organ was firstly created by a human it didnt land from no where and it is same as any other instrument used for art organ doesnt creat it own music it needs a organist to make sence of thousands and thousands of pipes.
The instrumental talent is there, but he launches it into the gutters of the Ganges and attaches Bach to a generator to see just how fast he can spin in his grave.
I guess they say this guy is Virgil Fox reincarnated. I can't dispute that. Virgil thought he was reincarnated too. This is the same spirit, the same phrasing, everything. The same enthusiasm. Arguably better precision. Thanks for keeping the Organ alive.
I wasn´t expecting that many disencouraging and negatives reviews in the comment section. I listen to a lot of classical music, am not a professional player or director, but am able to appreciate it on more than a basic level. I guess the only conclusion I can reach here is music is very subjective. I think Carpenter is very gifted as a musician. I actually like what he played here and would not say it is awful.
gosh, this is so over my head; i'm lucky if i can play 'while my guitar gently weeps' on a spinnet. i can understand both the praise & condemnation. but give him a hand for his practicing and stamina!
At first I was reading the comments and watching the beginning of the video and going "What's everyone talking about? It's not that bad!" Then I got halfway through...
This is one of the most impressive Organ play I've ever seen ! It will not harm Bach's Legazy if someone injects fresh Blood in to his Work. Yes, He is flashy .... but hey, He is American.
Well yes it does matter because in America we love to kind of try to rewrite music made by famous composers Virgil Fox and Diane Bish are the only popular American Organists doesn't rewrite unless needed to.
I disagree. I saw him play at the Kennedy Center yesterday, and he articulates his chosen expression of the pieces very well (almost all of the pieces played he transcribed for the organ himself, by the way). Very deliberate, and this one in particular, he plays the original prelude and 2 variations (as you can hear in this video). And as far as the clothes go... he could not sustain a living worldwide playing nonsense, and wow'ing people with his clothes. Very talented, w/ great technique.
This would be fantastic if he made the middle section more organized and relevant to the genre. Very cool idea for a song but I wish it was executed better. This had the potential to be something epic, I just wish the middle section wasn't improvised but arranged instead.
Just because you can does not mean you should. Everything I've heard this guy play has been overly complicated in a way that does not serve the music. Virtuosic maybe, not not satisfying.
This is not Bravissimo! When he is playing Bach on the Organ, why is he not playing Bachs Organ work? Why is he still playing this transcriptionstyl? He is not realy good. He is just an Entertainer, but not a good and serious man.
thank you. i dont know why the mainstream are not abel to deside between show and real know how to do. there are so much realy humbly religious and spiritual organ player. why do the peopel only like this hyperactive very female man?
Umm because its fun. Orthodox players are fun. This is fun. Why put boundaries on what the possibilities for fun are? Try putting on some lipstick sometime Dieter, it will help you get more in the mood to party. Let your femmeself show you the way!!
Am Anfang denkt man vielleicht noch das es interessant werden könnte, es wird jedoch einfach nur schlimmer. Bis es irgendwann zu einem reinen gehacke ohne Muster endet.
Your comments are so misguided and insulting that I do not really know where to possibly begin. But I will make an effort. First of all, you seem unaware that Bach himself was a relentless transcriber of his own and other composers' music. Transcription is viewed as a cornerstone of baroque philosophy. For example, Bach transcribed many Vivaldi concerti for solo harpsichord and organ, and the famous Preludio from Violin Partita 3, BWV 1006, also exists as a Cantata movement for organ obbligato and strings, as BWV 29. In fact, BWV 1006a is a harpsichord transcription of the very same violin Partita. Cello Suite 5, BWV 1011 also exists for Baroque Lute (in Bach's own hand) as BWV 995. I could go on, citing numerous additional examples. Suffice it to say, however, that I do not know which I find the more astounding - your complete ignorance or your obnoxious arrogance in denigrating others. Rest assured, though, that you are more deserving of my pity than my utter contempt.
It seems that he improvised it to pieces, shocking those familiar with the classical piece, but playing it by the score would be too boring for someone with such a heap of talent. His playing ability is truly astounding!
I'm a cellist and I loved this performance. Cameron doesn't play the cello so why not adapt this classical work to the unique sounds of the pipe organ! Well played! Thanks, Cameron.
Question? How many of the negative nellys here are actually organist? Yes Cameron can be over the top, that said he keeps the organ alive. Music is not set in stone it is fluid. Bravo Cameron!
Wow this was just awful. Compare the subtlety of expression in Yo-Yo Ma's performance to this note-mashing nonsense! Who knew Bach could be made to sound so bad!
Subliminal Messages You can view mine on my channel actually... Mine isn't perfect and it's on the piano instead, but this organ version just doesn't flow at all, it's choppy sounding. What I was mostly saying though is that the cello suite doesn't really work well on the organ, I wasn't saying the organist was bad.
Subliminal Messages You can be a respected food critic without being a master class chef. You don't have to do the same shit, or be of the same skill level, or have the same resources just to voice your opinion. That's a fallacy I'm so sick of seeing. It's a legitimately retarded defense.
You have done nothing but defend and promote your right to an opinion- and your opinion is PESH! Those who cant do-criticize! When you can demonstrate HALF of what Cameron is doing, here, let me know. Until then!
I understand why some people like this, and are totally gobsmacked by CC's technical skills. He can explain clearly what he is doing (see him running through his crazy transcription of the Rachmaninoff Paganini Rhapsody). He brings excitement and new audiences to organ performance. I get that. He has an immense repertoire and is undoubtedly a great virtuoso. But that's also part of the problem. So much ability, so many options and so many different sound options here combine to produce disjointed and annoying kitch. That might be what he wants, and he may be bored by a more straight and faithful approach, but to me, all the extra fluff and extravagance gets in the way of the music.
Sublime and bravo Cameron Carpenter. Many thanks for your vidéo Dondokodokodon.
He said: “I don’t need to be a professional musician, I just want to get my foot in the chord.”
Breathtaking, music has moved me to tears before, but it's indescribably beautiful
Congratulations Cameron. I watched his concert live digital concert hall in Berlin. Bravo. Kind Regards from BRZ.
Impressive and Amazing!! Thanks for Your wondertul performance!!
Another sterling example of the exquisite Key / Foot board artistic magic of Cameron Carpenter. Thank you Cameron for sharing your gifts with us! Aloha nui loa.
He is an actor. Music is another art.
plot twist: he actually played in 37/16
bruh im dead 😂😂😂

@Mr. L I mean how its just music?

I love playing this on guitar
Marvelous, as always!
Cameron is a creative genius who is totally engrossed in his quest for excellence. He appears to have adopted a Dianne Bishesque wardrobe style.
C'est une création ! La Suite pour violoncelle revisitée, et de quelle manière. Un grand artiste. Il ne joue pas à la Philharmonie de Berlin sans raison.
WONDERFUL !
Awesome performance~~!
The most incredible thing is that there were people that actually paid to see this live.
Circus Music!
Simply amazing. I think I may be able to learn the prelude as a pedal solo but that's about as far as I can play. Awesome blazer as well!
NICE, BEAUTIFUL !
YESSS boy with glittery high heals YESSS!!!

What’s that piece of paper he puts on the instrument just before playing
Guys don't take it seriously it's a shreds video.
WOW so money hataZ...
I enjoyed it.Kindest regards frum GERRRMONEY! xD and :P
This guy is crazy good. Freak of nature, good!
What in the world is that?! This is insane😲😲
Ngaku salah
"Noise"
During his lifetime Bach did not have that techniccal possibilities Carpenter has today. He lived in the stone-age of piano building. I am sure he would gave a thumbs up for Cameron.
Wow, I didnt know I was a musician, I've been playing like this since I was a kid, you know, just mashing my hands on the keys like im having seizure.
Got it sounds awful
I'm sure he's tremendously talented but this thing is off the fucking rails.
Wow, Cameron Carpenter on the organ RIEGER (czech company) in China !
Super genial! Für mich der größte Organist aller Zeiten!
I just hope he played it exactly how he intended it to sound because then we would know we're not in the same place emotionally to accept this piece as a great performance.
I love this wonderful spirit; this young master spills out so much goodness. I love to hear him.
+Anita M. Brown yuck
I think Cameron is like a Salvador Dali. Surrealist of the organmusic. Great Genius. I Like .
+cc steamer I think you are right. That being said I think he should really stick to creating his own original pieces since what he's doing here is clearly offending the vast majority of those commenting.
+Polygonzales Netlabel yes, musical improvisation is a whole new concept
if people are offended they should fuck off
@@whatsthedifference8184 It's not that we fell offended, is that this sounds like dog shit
absolute genius.....
wow that was great!
THIS is absolutely ridiculous!
Burkhard Terhart he have an excellente technique
The problem is that it's not about the music, it's about Cameron. The Bach isn't even well-played; wouldn't people rather just hear Paul Tortellier playing it properly?
100% correct assessment, an ego impossible to overcome. + just listened to Paul (just not to make Johan feel to bad lol)
+Harberton1 I first heard this played by the late Paul Tortellier at Repton School, England, in about 1972. Yes I'd rather hear Tortellier.
How right you are.
I think you just nailed it. This dude has talent, but no taste, and you're right, it's all about HIM.
This guy needs to buy a metronome.
Yes. 100% right! And he needs how to play an organ! The organ is the queen not the player. The Player is the servant of the Queen.
The instrument is a tool for a musician to express music... not
vis versa.
sorry, nope. HE is the Queen.
he is terrible
I skipped to 2:40 and was mindblown at the utter garbage I was listening to :D
+ArsensMusic Loud, noisy, sloppy articulation, no musicianship, no substance. Guess there's an audience for ANYTHING.
Oh, Lord....
C'est de la folie!!!!😍
GREAT!!!
The instrumental talent is there, but he launches it into the gutters of the Ganges and attaches Bach to a generator to see just how fast he can spin in his grave.
Hahaha. Great comment!
hhahahahahaha fucking genius!
LMAO!!
Best comment here so far.

Fantastic technique!
I hope the organ sounds better in reality than it does over my speakers.
DAMN. Amazing. Bravissimo! This stuff has been around for 300 years and it's public domain, why not play with it a little?
A little?!
I found this by accident, what an extraordinary performance!
gosh, this is so over my head; i'm lucky if i can play 'while my guitar gently weeps' on a spinnet. i can understand both the praise & condemnation. but give him a hand for his practicing and stamina!
Great intensity.
hay que tener muchisima habilidad para hacer eso, no cualquiera lo hace y no se por que tantos dislikes, a mi me dejo boquiabierto °o°!
MONSTER!
That scene on the merry go round in 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'...

BRAVO!!!!!!! FROM BRAZIL!!!!!! MARAVILHOSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I wasn't aware that this is Bach, I'd guess that this is a contemporary piece🤩🤧
Sorry, but this sounds like a mess...
And we can view your performance- WHERE????

I don't know. Guess he has his own schtick. Great talent is not always put to it's best use.
This would be fantastic if he made the middle section more organized and relevant to the genre. Very cool idea for a song but I wish it was executed better. This had the potential to be something epic, I just wish the middle section wasn't improvised but arranged instead.

Awesome ! Da'Vinci Mystery brought me here
WOW! Cameron Carpenter is one of the best organists in the entire world!!! I'm very glad he could do something for the Japanese people!
As if the Japanese needed any help!
This sounds horrendous.
Tokkemon the sound of that horn in your ass is horrendous!
+Nautilus Nexus no its the organ in the video im sure
+Tokkemon sembra una esibizione da circo...non Bach
Marco C. good on you marco, reply to an english comment in italian. awesome job!
"That sounds like a circus performance...not Bach". Translated from Italian
Fantastic you and your jacket!!!
Moi j'aime Bach et j'admire aussi ce dépoussierrage Gigargantuesque!
I'm not even sure what I watched was real. I know it is, but this was freaky! Loved it!

Super
Wow this was just awful. Compare the subtlety of expression in Yo-Yo Ma's performance to this note-mashing nonsense! Who knew Bach could be made to sound so bad!
Does anyone know how to explain so much talent can enter into an idiot like Carpenter?
Sounds as if the piece had not been practiced and everything else was just improvised while in the influence of some drug.
1.05 was all I could take. They must give away Masters degrees in new York.
Der Anfang war wesentlich interessanter und beeindruckender!
Who did the audio and video for this? =(
Mute the on-camera microphones, please!
Very unmusical. You simply not do justice to this piece. This has nothing to do with his ability. This is pure show, poor Bach.
Ich liebe wie er spielt!!
My ears are bleeding!
+Tulsatom Bob LOL
grossartig!
I'm sure that takes a lot of skill, but the overall result in most parts sounds like a heap of rubbish

Cameron Carpenter *is* a Genius. I can't believe anyone could give a thumbs down
This is murderer and he sucks
some people just can't handle it. when you break conventions inevitably people will get upset.
" I can't believe anyone could give a thumbs down" Here have one from me :P
A "gomenasai" at the end would've been very appropriate...
Didn't know someone could willingly ruin something so beautiful and turn it into a circus act.
