Cody was born in Texas, Grady was born in St. Louis, Randy and Jeremy were born in Oklahoma. They got their start in Yukon and their time in Stillwater really launched them. They even helped earn Stillwater the nickname "North Austin" because they do have an amazing Red Dirt sound. I'm an Okie and proud of these boys. Even got to hang a couple times with them in Wichita Falls after their concerts at Kay Yeager. Texas fans did play a major role in helping them rise to fame. Thanks for that.

Try being 68. Just went to my 50 year high school reunion.
Hate to say it but not a damn thing has changed in that little southern Virginia town in 50 years. They never let you forget the trouble you got into as a teenager. And the high school kings and queens are still trying to rule. They all peaked in high school anyway and not one of them has really done anything to make a difference.

But, then again, 20yrs from now, I'll be wishing for these days. We are never satisfied I guess. Gotta live life by the drop and act like there's no tomorrow.

Kevin Crockett ; hey, Kev, lemme tell'ya from a 67 yr old womans' perspecktive it just gets wilder and better if'y keep yer heart young, keep laffin' and keep havin'adventures!! Keep on singin' harmony and enjoy everything comes yer way, even th'hard stuff..it's what flavors life...
Course it don't hurt one bit if'yv'e kept yer looks, stayed horny and gotta boyfriend(girl in yer case)ten years younger'n you!!

Marie DeLozier - How bout 17yrs younger than me, Marie? Lol. Met her in a club in Portland while i was "adventuring" and took her with me. Here we are 5yrs later and still together. We see things differently sometimes due to the age difference but I still say no regrets. Believe it or not, she's the one that has gotten milder after getting away from the dancing scene, and is trying to dial me back a notch! I don't think I'll ever act my age tho.

I remember when I was seventeen 39 1/2 years ago. I lived in a very small Oklahoma town. Went to a small High School with only 18 kids in my graduating class. I remember a very popular girl in my class that was pretty much “miss everything”.
Her Mom was a teacher at a nearby school. The girl was well known to everyone around with a snotty attitude and perfect attendance for 13 years.
You know the type. New cars, head cheerleader , very pretty, religous, and miss perfect. She was the first girl out of our graduating class that got pregnant out of wedlock. She didn’t marry the guy either. Got a menial job and married 3 or 4 times . Never made anything of herself. She died last year single and alone and was always dependent on her parents for help. I was the only classmate to attend her funeral. This song came out several years ago before her death of course and I always
thought of her when I heard this song because she had it all including a bright future ahead of her and she blew it. She lived in our little town of 200 people her entire life. She’ll always be 17 in that town .

@James J Wow. Small world man. That lineman's name was Michael Benson. He was a beast. Held every powerlifting record for years. He still holds the total weight record I believe. And maybe the squat record. Unfortunately he passed away a few years ago. Supposedly someone poisoned his drink in college and he was messed up for the rest of his years and died early.

Mike McCartney Yep. Every time I go back to my old high school football games, the teachers that are still there when I was always laugh and talk about all the hell me and my friends raised when were were there. I shudder at some of the stuff we did and didn't die or get caught doing and get thrown in jail! But that's pretty much the story of all of us when we were in high school, right? We were young and invincible.

I don't understand this comment at all. Are you guys all in your 20's? This song come out in 2002. Got some air time on CMT before it was total shit. I was born in 85. That would make me exactly 17 when this song came out. Jammed out on these guys all through College. Only got to see them once. Wish they were still together, but I am glad they came and went when they did and not ten years later.

@@nickkyler4923 yeah there for a real short time on CMT late, you could see CCR, Chris Knight, Shooter Jennings...the whole "Alt/outlaw" artists..which blew all the shit they played in the daytime away! "Pickin Wildflowers " was another by i think Keith Anderson .
Then i think when they wouldn't cowtow to Nashville and people like Shooter telling them to fuck off, they dropped them.
Can't have artists who have control over their own lives in Nashville.
I've listened to "Cross Country" on the old xm. Now outlaw country on sirius.
Cross country was better..they played the Stone Coyotes and others
