I received Motordyne's prototype exhaust system for the Maxima. Here is the full experience through my eyes. Also playing around with video editing in iMovie.
I replaced AAM competition exhaust which in my opinion when coupled with RACINGLINE's y-pipe was the best sounding exhaust for the Maximas. However, problem was they weren't a direct fit and modifications had to be performed to get it installed properly......
MOTORDYNE's complete system y-pipe and exhaust don't encounter that issue. Being specifically fabricated for the car, performance is increased, interior cabin noise is decreased, and WOT screams commanding the attention of anyone who appreciates a good exhaust tone. It definitely turns heads, yet at idle is surprisingly quiet. I am thoroughly impressed.

2:11 Before, 10:19 after. You can tell before it was much deeper in bass. Its now much more suppressed afterwards. I preferred the exhaust before.
S P like I said the video doesn’t do it justice, try and listen with a subwoofer if you haven’t, I like both of them but truth be told the second one was deeper. I liked it more, either way you can’t go wrong!

It must be said, what a great documentation and editing, very nice. I feel your pain on buying 2 different exhaust systems. I used to have the Invidia Gemini exhaust a while back with ART pipes, but after hearing Motordyne Shockwave in person; I had to have it. Interesting design Tony did on the Maxima ART pipe, it does sound like the original ART pipes with only a single pipe vs 2. Motordyne is by far the best and your Maxima is my favorite of all the generations, clean ride man.
Yes I was thoroughly impressed with this design.. Get him to start on one for Lexus GS 350 lol. I tried to be fair I was extremely happy with the AAM setup , but the Motordyne definitely is worth it

You can cut that small resonator off and install a 30” Magnaflow resonator and really enjoy that sound of a deep throaty yet quiet yippe back system...
@Skip R Why would you consider Magnaflow junk? I’ve had Magnaflow mufflers that’s older than you bro! They’re internal one piece design flows better than any hacked up and welded exhaust muffler. Stainless Steel construction that’s durable as hell and high quality when sized properly provides a high quality sound that’s not obnoxious nor loud as hell!
@Skip R Apparently your cars are either in the snow belt or not running right I installed a 6” x round 14” long Magnaflow on my 86.5 Hardbody with a 409 SS 2.25” exhaust system and headers and the muffler and exhaust are still like new! That system was installed in 2000. My 2003 Nissan Maxima has a 6” x18 “ (3” in/out) Magnaflow muffler that’s almost 10 yrs old! The sorry ass Mufflers that rot from inside out were the Turbo Sonic mufflers! Not the Magnaflow XL series. There’s no need to lie! Google “Carltonator”....

Still one of the best in my opinion, definitel y try and find one with the pano roof, heated seats and heated steering wheel!! You wont regret it!!
@@thesolution357 only downside to the heated part is only good for 2 or 3 months then its 90s to 125+ degrees spring summer and fall . But love that body

I have a 2013, waiting to get it back. Getting a new engine put in by Nissan for a dealer blowing my engine out because they didn't put oil in it. Just paid it off this year with 75k miles on it. Now it's 000000k Haha Haha! Now I can get like yours! Thanks for the inspiration!

it's easier 2 swap the engine into a 5th gen dan a 6speed in the cvt space
look it up Dan Evans from Ghostlighting is doing the swap from cvt to 6 speed. The company doing the swap is in North Carolina. NISformance.
Can you make a video about how to turn on the fog lights only
Jhona Cr I no longer have this car but any stereo shop can do it. I connected a power switch and connection to the battery and ran directly to the aftermarket HID headlights. You just have to remember to turn them on and off or you might kill your battery if you forget to turn them off. The other option is to wire them in to the parking light wire so they get power when you turn the parking lights on or off!

What rear diffuser is that, and where can I get it?
Also what did you use to black out the chrome on the doors, front bumper, and trunk lid?
I'm asking all this because I have a '14 Maxima SV and I'm trying to do stuff to her and treat her real nice.
Slandora Paralex that is the Stillen rear diffuser, I just hydro dipped it Carbon Fiber. The black out is 3M gloss black vinyl wrap. The trunk lid I am pretty sure I had hydro dipped as well.
Any issues with the Art Y pipe... someone from the car club said they crack easy...
nytlifehov appreciate the love, I had no issues and I was lowered on coils, anything the crack depending on what they hit and how consistently an individual might scrape it up, then I would say sure. But I had no issues

Brother I hve a question maybe u can hlp me ok I hve a 2010 maxima a model. Now the hydrolic passenger motor mount needs replacing but I need the torque specs how tight to tighten down not to over do it. Do u kw ?

William Mays I would suggest a Stillen front lip and rear diffuser and some lowering springs by Eibach. This will drastically change the look of the car even on stock wheels!

sometimes it's better for the car, depending on the car. it'll make it sound better and it'll still look nice, just put custom tips over the pipe
Hey man, dope exhaust. I'm planning on getting the same exhaust for my 8th gen, I also live in VA. NOVA specifically. I did have a question, with the ART Y-pipe does it have any issues with passing VA emissions? That's the only thing I'm not sure about. VA laws are too restrictive man! Mad props tho, it sounds great!
Yo, Im in VA also. Im in VA Beach. It looks like this dude had this done in Chesapeake. I have a G35 and have the same dilemma. I have been researching this for awhile and what I have found is that it won't pass emissions without the catalytic converter. Motordyne does sell a section with the cat so that is no problem. The issue is the test pipes. Its illegal to not have a muffler but its not required to pass emissions. So basically you can get the shockwave w/ cat and you will pass but if those state troopers hear you screaming by them its a ticket and VA troopers don't give breaks. But its not a moving violation so fuck it. Just be aware of your surroundings when you punch it. The other issue about this guys max, is how the hell he gets away with no front license plate and those headlights? VA is restrictive a fuck about cars.

Did the motordyne mess with your air fuel computer? Was thinking about getting the motordyne but not sure beings computer can’t be adjusted.

You got a link for those headlights. I can't find schit for stock HIDs and that Night Rider effect in the parking lights is dope af. Picked up a 14 SV and I'm starting to go thru the motions like I did for my 02. I need headlights bad lol.
Custom built at the time by @ghoztlighting but now I believe he contracts it out

So I see that this was posted 5 years ish ago. How has the exhaust treated you? How do you like it? Do you regret getting the art Y-Pipe? Are you glad you did get it? Do you like the exhaust better or is it worse? Does it sounds better or worse now? Do you feel any gains with the whole system? I want to know your thoughts on it all. I’m on the fence right now with getting it.
Sorry Bradley...been a while, but for an update I did sell that to my buddy and he actually still has it on his Maxima and when I spoke to his he hasn't had any issues with it. No rust, still love, not one regret. Gains are moderate, there is only so much you can get out of the platform with major engine and transmission mods.

How is the quality of the motordyne exhaust and y-pipe? I had someone tell me they weren't built well but I love the sound that you get from them. I have a 2016 maxima and just got a k&n filter and am looking to get an exhaust in the near future.
