I have watched your series today. I think I’ll wait another year or so before I book on the Islander to fix issues that you have mentioned in your videos. After all, it’s a 20-year-old ship. The best part is the overall price and your friends got upgraded for free. However, no Internet service for the first couple days, cold food, water leaking in the dining room, no loyal point system like Royal Caribbean. Overall, I would think I would book this cruise but not right now.
Thank you so much! It’s our way of creating memories and home movies that we can show her when she grows up! We plan on getting 20 cruises under her belt by 4, we are at 7 so far
Hi guys, Tampa here. Great to see this video and your experience onboard. I am sailing on her Aug. 23rd to Cozumel, and being I know the port very well, I have started to book an All Inclusive Day Pass at a local hotel. This particular weekend I will be at the Hotel Cozumel, and looking fwd to a wonderful day. The ship is new, and like you said, will need time to work all the problems out for a smoother embark/debark as well as onboard venues. It is obviously not a RCI or CCL, however, its a new brand to Tampa, and we welcome her. The good, bad and ugly will get resolved. Great video and enjoyed your tour of the ship. As you also mentioned I will probably sail her again in the future. It's just to convenient for me. Thanks and sail safe
Good videos. Every new ship has kinks they need to work out. Based on realizing that, i still wanna give the Islander a shot. Looks way better than the other ship, Margaritaville at Sea
Thank you for your review. Definitely going to give this ship a try. The beautiful remodel alone is worth it... looking forward to cruising on the Islander by the end of the year! Not interested in getting loyalty point's just want to enjoy my family on a different cruise line.
You are making a good decision. We are going to go back in October or November and we are confident the issues will be resolved. Have you checked out the other parts of this series? Thank you so much for watching!
It looks like they are making improvements. My group of about 45 to 50 will be doing Nov 1st, im hoping more of the kinks will have been worked out by then. Looks fun thoughaa
We're booked for the Islander in October. It stops in Progreso Mexico which is a half hour from Merisa, a colonolial city and the Yucatan capital. Your videos of the Islander are great. Maisey's beautiful.
@@PortholesandPixieDust the ambience, music, dancing and meeting new people. We're used to 7 to 8 day cruises on carnival and love how even people in our age group, 60s and 70s were in the nightclub. Don't think we'll see that on the Islander.
Bummer about the storm you had to deal with, I have had similar experiences on cruises before, and all you can do is wait it out, From your videos, I would say that this ship has a lot of potential, it’s very well designed and decorated and looks like a fun ship to sail on once the crew gets some cruises under their belts, not being able to use your balcony have been very annoying, and the cold and poorly prepared foods hopefully will get better in time, although the pizza, ice cream and Hamburgers seems to be a hit, but the two items that I saw that were very disturbing from a Risk Management and Life Safety issue (I have experience in that career field) were the no trained lifeguards at the pool, hot tubs or water slides and especially no x-rays, or metal detectors from security when you come back on the ship from a port of call is unforgivable in this day and age, the opportunity for someone to bring on a weapon, fireworks or other dangerous devices could result in catastrophic incidents on the ship, The management needs to address both of those issues immediately, that being said, I would at some point take a cruise on the Islander, and enjoy it always being 5’O Clock somewhere as I enjoyed a margarita or two or maybe ten 😂😂😂
We are going to have some margs today. We were concerned about the lack of security. I really hope they do resolve it soon. I also did break my neck on that slide since there was no attendant telling me that I was not allowed to go on my stomach.
@@PortholesandPixieDust I was surprised to see you going down head first, since I have never seen that done before on ships, and the fact that there was no one was at the top of the slide to oversee the passengers to ensure that they went down safely and that they got off the slide before someone else went down is disturbing to say the least.

It was a great ship! But yes, waiting a few months to a year hopefully they have worked everything out!
I love that you guys are giving your daughter these experiences!

Yes, way better than Paradise! When do you plan on booking her?
I'm loving the series. ❤
Thank you so much, Bill! You are building an incredible community and I’m so happy we got to connect and become a part of it!

I agree, not having security coming back from a port is scary. Anything could happen.
Never experienced that before!

Thank you so much, she’s our little world traveler. What are you most looking forward to on the ship?

Oh no Marlee sorry you weren’t feeling well the last couple days of your trip. Maizie is as adorable as ever.
She’s the star of the show. Love and miss you!

Question i know it can take a long time if you don't have priority, are you able to chill out in your stateroom while waiting to disembark?
We were kicked out of our room promptly between &-8:30 and had to wait in the lobby until we debarked
