Thanks for another great lesson! I too am new, and the field I currently fly has shifting winds. In the AM from the east, then shift to the south, then the west by afternoon. We also get sudden gusts up to +10 mph (scary!). Trial by fire! I watched 3 planes crash in less than an hour (one needed a broom for clean up ☹). Your lessons help me to avoid mistakes, and be a better pilot - Thank you!!! P.S. I was happy to have flown successfully, practicing take offs / landings while they were crashing. My flights weren't pretty, but I went home with my plane just fine.
Thanks for your tips! I recently noticed that it is easier for me as a beginner to build the left approach box on a model with a CCW propeller. Another important problem is the visual assessment of the distance to obstacles and their heights.
Very interesting subject ! Since you were an airline pilot, I always find it stressful to view crab landings ...I am always thinking about the enormous stress the landing gear must endure when contacting the ground at an angle compared to the direction of the runway and with great speed...They are well engineered for sure...Can you elaborate ? Thank you!
Actually the stresses on the landing gear not all that bad. The jet is flying flying at that point. The moment we touch down the spoilers are out, thrust reverse set and with the rudders we align the fuselage with the runway. It all works out! Tim
@@TimMcKay56 Thank you for your answer. I must admit it is always impressive to watch those big airplanes ''pivot '' on their main landing gear...Don't be too humble !!!

David: So glad your flying is going well! Tim
AGAIN THANK YOU

David: Great observation! Tim
Thank you for Sharing all your knowledge, I appreciate it.
I would like to ask you which book do you recommend for Designing RC models. Thank..
Carlos: There is no book that I use to design my planes. But I did do a video on this subject, will be out in a few weeks. Tim
