You can't deny the fact that Nelson can hit beats better than anyone else, why do you think he keeps making finals of nearly every competition? don't be silly, he isn't blowing anyone. Judges are there to reinforce a standard of popping. Judges like KEI is able to determine from the petty tricks and actual poppers and critique based on their performance leaving a higher standard for future generation. respect...
in a dance battle exist some kinds o criterias and based on them judges choose the winner i dont really know them(criterias) but lets say musicality, creativity and technicality could be some of them (im not english so dont judge me plz.. peace:)
It's a dance, but when you're in a battle you have to impress the judges and crowd. Eye candy moves is necessary, but Bruce isn't all about eye candy he was playing with that music as well if you haven't noticed. You don't necessarily have to do boogaloo rolls to be funky.

Well, not all freestyle... Often, you got your sets and then you adapt them to the music. But you're right, it depends on your style, some of bboys do a freestyle !

Since 2012 until now, i still watching this epic battle over and over again. Obviously, Bruce supposed won the battle but he is the founder of Juste Debout. Instead of focusing him to win his own event, he just make the event best dance battle ever. And everyone enjoyed it. He still a living legend.
U have to respect Bruce not just for how he can dance but for what he did at the end. When judges said Nelson and fraquey won everybody started booing and Bruce was the one who tried to calm down everyone. Apparently he is the winner, perfect combination of technique and personality

I can say that it's one of the best popping battles I've ever seen with these dance monsters in which my master Manu Sampio gave me a base and I had the opportunity to take a class with master Bruce Ykanji when he was in Rio H2K I can say that I really enjoyed the popping like locking and breaking because they are part of a Hip Hop culture that continues to this day.
