    We had a walk around Caleta de Fuste on Thursday 22nd October to give you an update on the situation for businesses here. Later that day the UK announced a travel corridor to the Canary Islands allowing a way for tourists to visit again without the need to self isolate on return. All of the details are here- ruclips.net/video/9bZgR3vpOo4/видео.html
    German travel advice also changed, so it appears that the winter tourism season may have been saved. We don't have business interests on Fuerteventura but have spoken to many people that do. It's likely that this news could save jobs on the island and keep premises open that may otherwise have had to close.

    Good to see you both in Spar last week for a brief chat. I cannot lie that it was difficult to see how quiet Caleta was a I'm hoping that the latest news will herald that experience as the low point. I'm hoping that subsequent vlogs will show a very different and positive picture. Keep up the good work and thank you for your time and effort in providing us all with a vested interest in Fuerteventura a true and honest picture of what is happening.

    Thanks for the update ladies! We usually travel from Dublin at least a couple of times a year, but current work commitments don't allow for 2 weeks self isolation when we get home. Otherwise we'd be very comfortable visiting. Hopefully we'll manage to get there late December / January when we'll have more free time. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone is booked with aer lingus from Dublin this year or have they cancelled all Fuerteventura flights for 2020? Flights that were available seem to be 'booked out' but I suspect they've just cancelled the flights....... Thanks, Sue

This is because of lack of numbers but also they can offer the self catering option, they are also upgrading guests who transfer from the Barcelo to superior rooms.

      I think a lot of people forget that the island has had thousands of Spanish holiday makers here in the months of June, July and August. In that time the tourist areas haven’t been associated with cases. The hotels, bars and restaurants are well prepared here, they’ve had months and months of strict guidelines to follow. The island was probably at the point where the effects of the virus were becoming far more serious than the virus itself. I’m sure people will continue to be aware of the potential risks but life must go on

    • @AmeliaBolger
      @AmeliaBolger  4 года назад +1

      Some have started to give reopening dates as a result of the travel corridor. Of course another week brings more news and testing is now a factor. Bookings have apparently increased hugely from UK and Germany so I think we will see a few more open in early December for the Christmas/New Year period. Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do other than phone direct to check, the tourist board here haven’t released any meaningful information since August!

    I’d like to bet there are so many Brits that would love to come to Corralejo but I maybe be wrong and really hope I am.
    I think with a lot of Brits and the Spanish coming over there, that they infection rate will rise again within a few weeks, I’d love to be wrong and truly hope I am, I know that JP will probably think the same.
    I should have been there at the beginning of September for a few weeks, but unfortunately we all knew what happened.
    I’ve personally been coming here for 20 years on and off, the island keeps changing and for the best, myself and my partner Tracey have always loved the place, we call it our second home as we both adore the weather, which is so different from Coventry and Birmingham as you’re well away.
    Corralejo is like a second home to us, give us a mention in your next video.
    We love travelling around the island but we normally travel by bus, which isn’t a bad thing as it puts money into the local economy which can only be a plus for the island.
    Anyway keep safe and we’ll keep watching x

    Hi and thanks for the latest update on caleta.
    Yep some good positive news for the islands.
    Not so positive for us here on the isle of blighty sadly almost half of the population ie 30 million people currently going through levels of lockdown more becoming stringent to level tier 3...not the news I'm sure you wouldn't want to hear but the reality is very limited travel outside of a town county or region.
    I wish this wasn't so and I hate having to report it but it's the fact as of now.
    Speculative comments on whether these restrictions here will be before christmas and some suggestions not until march!
    Unfortunate for us that want to travel to the islands.😒..
    I wish you both well and thankyou again for the updates they are very much appreciated.

    • @AmeliaBolger
      @AmeliaBolger  4 года назад +3

      I think many people who have experienced a true lockdown in Spain are looking on at the UK in disbelief. Tiers for fears! It’s not a lockdown in any sense of the word. The UK rules for Tier 3 permit travel to the airport. It may advise against travel but it is nothing more than an advisory. If I was in that position I’d have no hesitation in escaping. Vitamin D in abundance, and no constant media noise. Must be better for people’s mental and physical health I’m sure!

    • @iankwhite
      @iankwhite 4 года назад +1

      @@AmeliaBolger hiya
      Today the guardian reported and quoted the following..
      Travelling outside or entering a tier3 area to be avoided unless for work education or as a carer.
      Residents of a tier3 area to avoid staying overnight in another part of the uk while people in tier1 or 2 avoid staying in tier3.
      As the outbreak is ongoing and growing regular updates reflect the current situation but will be subject to further change.
      All above from the guardian newspaper group dated and published today.
      In Scotland no border crossing in or out of the country same applies to Wales..
      So the reality is maybe tier1 folk will be on the planes maybe tier1 but as I said it's getting worse and outside of the government stringent criteria is now being issued by the regional county councils..

      I think lot of places are now able to make plans to reopen so it probably won’t be long until things improve again. See you soon!

    Why do people wear sunglasses when on video? Dodgy to me, what are you hiding?

      Seriously? 😂 Are you forgetting that the big orange thing in the sky gives off quite a glare all year round here. We wear them for the purpose they’re intended for.
