Yes😂if these additives in ethanol can solve all problems then why are manufacturers specifically mentioning e 20 compatible, whilst they could have continued with e10 only
Lovely to see Munish Ji back on Channel. Lovely chemistry you guys also have :-) I have got Kushaq 1.0 TSI MT June, 2022 Model which does not have E-20 written on the Petrol Tank. Should I get XP 95 filled for better performance or still stick to normal Petrol for Engine Longetivity and maintenance.. It's 7rs. costlier than normal petrol in Delhi NCR. Pls. suggest. Many thanks
One more point to keep in mind is that the energy content or calorific value of ethanol is much lower than petrol. What this means is that more E20 fuel has to be burnt compared to E0 fuel to maintain the same output. In layman's terms "lower mileage".
Firstly, if you are saying there is 80 20 proportion of petrol to ethanol then that needs to reiterated. Ethanol is so much hydrophilic that pure ethanol cannot be synthesized (always comes as 99.9% m/m). So it is 80:19.9:0.1 Further, if the 'stablizers' are that effective then what is the reason that blending is done just before the fuel is to be transferred to pumps. Why is it not blended and stored at refineries? The simple reason is fear of phase separation. Once that happens water would start to settle down as water is much denser then oil and start the corrosion of big reservoirs base (which is a costly affair). Also, post separation the reblending is a challenge. Further, the truck tankers used to transfer are filled to the brim to minimise the chances of water absorption by ethanol. So, a practical solution would be to use fuel stabilizers and get tank topped up or very low (to minimise absorption) if your vehicle is going to sit ideal for weeks, buy petrol from pumps that rotate good volumes, try to run the vehicle daily and when getting the vehicle serviced - asking for inspection of fuel tank for any sign of debris, metal coatings. Also, to add the reason for better combustion by blending ethanol is not organic additives but rather the octane number of ethanol itself. Octance specifies the ability of fuel to withstand compression before it self ignites. Blending ethanol with petrol elevates the octane rating of the fuel. So, that is why it is much better for efficient combustion. As the piston compresses air fuel mixture, you would want the mixture to withstand the full piston compression, so that efficient blue flame combustion happens and maximum push to piston is transferred. This might lead to a rationale that higher octane rating fuel would require more piston travel to combust. So, we might require new setups altogether as we increase blending ratio. Thanks for bringing out a video on the topic.
There are reports from kerala of insect attack on pipe due to high ethanol presence causing petrol leak. Insects that drill on wood are the ones that does this. Have you noticed any such news in the north? If this is true, would e20 compatible vehicles have added prevention for this issue?
As a Virtus owner, shall I continue with XP95? I am an HP fan but HP pumps don't give any assurance whether their Power is Power95 or same Octane 93? Please advise, Sunderdeepji.
HP is non hydrocarbon additive base, never use HP higher octane fuel in TSI. If you are using HP petrol bunk stick to normal E10, or use XP95 from a reliable petrol bunk, COCO.
@@piyushpriyadarshi8132 Don't know exact Octane rating of E20 fuel sold in India, since E10 achieved 91Octane from 87Octane, E20 with similar base petrol and ethanol should be around 97 .
