Cory's dad stories are largely the result of Cory being forced to do construction/handyman work by him. Still haunted by the night he told an entire Skype call the story of being locked in a rat infested shed by his dad.

The craziest thing about this entire clip is Cory was the only one who actually remembered what the question was.

There's a church by my house that plays absurdly long songs on the bells at random times. I was getting really frustrated that I had my headphones in and could still hear the stupid church bells until about 6:40 when I finally took my headphones out to figure out wtf was going on and realized it was just the piano track in the background of this recording.

Gotta love lobbying so that they can invent a market that doesn’t need to exist. Other countries just ask for your tax money with a precise amount but we gotta keep Turbotax and H&R Block alive for no fucking reason besides they want money.
I love how no matter where you go, teachers that teach 2nd languages will always make you learn how to ask to go to the bathroom in their language. "Puedo ir al bano, por favor?" and some numbers are legit the only things I remember from Spanish class

Where IS taxes class?

Accounting teacher got us certified to do taxes but wasnt in school circumcision
It WAS called Home Economics, but most schools fazed that out a few decades ago
I think a lot of US kids just don’t pay attention in class because I *did* have a taxes class in public high school. I don’t know how to do taxes either, my gf does my taxes every year, all I’m saying is our education system does teach us we just don’t give a fuck when we’re in HS.

The problem with those genetic tests that determine if a fetus has a cognitive issue is that they're surprisingly inaccurate. Doctor told my mom there was a high chance I would be born with down syndrome. Turns out I didn't. This was pretty early into the pregnancy too.
I doubt you'd have been tested. If your mother was older when she was pregnant then usually it gets brought up.

I've taken Swedish classes for six years (mandatory in Finland) and "Excuse me, where is the metro?" is nearly most of the Swedish I know. And I only remember that because I read it in a comic strip. I can string together clumsy sentences on the fly, but not competently in the least.

Unless the baby had like a severe malformation, otherwise why tf would a doctor r e c o m m e n d abortion? Then again I'm not a doctor. Years from now, abortion might be the norm even when the child is healthy with the population and housing crisis and sorts. But don't listen to me I'm not a scientist.
I have a friend who had the doctors recommend abortion for each of their siblings because they would be disabled. Each of them came out perfectly normal.

Literally everyone in south Florida, myself included, speaks Spanish as a first language. At home, with friends, out on the town, literally nothing but Spanish. You’ll never guess what fucking language credit everyone gets before they graduate high school. I don’t think I ever even saw another language as an option. Just fucking Spanish for Spanish speakers.
And none of us ever know where to put the tilde in any word.

Ryqael Miles no yea i agree with him though. In my spanish class i was more focused on getting every point on the rubric while working on my projects and homework than I spent actually practicing the material. American grading system is too easy to fail and everythings about the grade

Honestly I wish I would've payed attention in school. I could be running a company instead of doing analytics but it is what it is. I don't mind my job but sometimes it's too much when people can't even understand excel. I get emails constantly from my boomer co-workers about "DERRRR how do I put in a formula?" I'll explain that you just have to type it in the appropriate field and they're like, Huh?

Can an Irish person answer this, is there parts of Ireland where they REFUSE to speak English and ONLY speak in Irish? Also, how's the quality of life in those areas? Probably not tourist hotspots. Our home-economics class taught us taxes and balancing checkbooks. BUT I was the only one in my family that had to take regular ECON. So I learned about stocks and dividends, don't remember a fucking thing about it. Just like I was the only one in my family forced to learn Spanish, then learned it wasn't a graduation requirement, both siblings took German, since my mother's german-scandanavian, JUST SUPER FUCKING WASP; and my father was German and Italian. But my Mom's side goes back to the late 1800s in the US, where even though my father's parents were 1st generation Americans, they weren't speaking italian or german in the house. My stepfather of like a decade (I'm 33) his family spoke italian in the home.
Not Irish, but the answer is not since WWI. Schools have been trying to bring back Irish Gælic as a lingua franca since like the eighties, but kids don't care enough to bother with it.
They'd probably have a better chance of getting kids to learn at least _some_ form of Gælic if they just sent them across the channel for a mandatory one-year study in Wales or Scotland.
Parents used to teach their kids life advice and skills like how to do taxes. Now that's all been lumped on schools because parents are either too busy or lazy.
