I'll be watching content from Gen Con on RUclips bc I can't go. I'll view your channel first. Not just bc my wife tells me to, it's bc you're the most down to earth board game RUclipsr.
Elf N Moon is actually open 24/7 through this coming Monday...I am running Pathfinder Society this coming Monday Night. Also, for those with mobility issues..SKIP WILL CALL go to guest services at the end of the customer service area, they will send a runner for your package also wristbands that allow you to wait at the beginning of the line for events
2:42 If you're a late sleeper and staying at a hotel nearby me and my friends went around 10/11pm to will call and there was no line. I believe they are open till 2AM the night before the convention as well.
I went to the convention center just before midnight on Wednesday because I also read that they were open until 2am. I wanted to avoid the line in the morning. I went to the doors by the block party and they were locked. I asked someone at a truck parked just outside and they claimed they had closed at 10pm.
@billbarnett3016 @billbarnett3016 I had a question for the Will Call people and walked up to their info table around 8pm, and they did say they were going to be there till 2am on Wednesday...Maybe they closed a bunch of their doors to make it easier to secure? And left the main door open? I dont know for sure
My tip for GenCon is to look for after parties. There are a lot of open and paid events that are not part of the regular Schedule hosted by companies, influencers, and other groups at hotels and restaurants across the city. I've been to a few with a free drink ticket just for showing up and are rarely crowded.
@@The_BoardGame_Sherpa Sometimes they advertise them on their pages a few weeks before. Other times they'll have a sign or a post card at their booth. Devir does a get together at a local bar every year and I usually just ask. If you have a publisher, designer, that you like to talk more to, you just ask if they are doing anything outside hall times.
Thats a great idea - I'll try it this year and put it in next years update :) I do expect that my older publisher friends will be crashing after a long day at the con tho :)
The problem with buying Rollacrit merch ahead of time is missing out on perks. I spent enough to get freebies but because I ordered ahead of time, I missed out.
@dlstc Thats a really great point - i didnt think of that...I got a bunch of freebies a a few years ago. I just don't have it in me to wait on that line so early in the convention when everything else is going on...
I’m assuming you know about the influx of Brazilian designers coming to GenCon this year? I just interviewed Robert Coelho on this channel a couple of days ago if you didn’t find me using that video :) You’ll have a great time!
It’s a great year for Brazilian Designers! It’s a good sign that the two top games I’m looking forward to were from Brazilian designers and I didn’t even know it before I met Robert :)
The consignment store will be closed by Sunday. Your only chance to buy anything there on Sunday is to find someone getting their unsold games back and make them an offer.
Good list. As well as bringing good, sturdy shoes, bring along a change of socks for each day. At 4PM when you change your socks your feet will feel reenergized and ready for the evening. You can thank me later.
@@The_BoardGame_Sherpa yup. It's to prevent swampfoot. Sweaty fungus breeding socks. In fact, when it comes to socks, wool socks over cotton socks. The wool wicks away the moisture from your foot and helps keep it feeling heathy.
If ur on the stairs recording the people go in I will try to meet you, it’s my first year and I’m a big nerd when it comes to gaming and I’m going to this convention to play space marines 2
The games library tip hurt. Its already sold out and just saw this video hours after it was posted. Hopefully future folks watching this video knows. :(

@@The_BoardGame_Sherpa it's an old military thing. Amazing what a fresh pair of socks can do to your energy.
I’ve heard about it in the military, but that’s like after marching in the swamp lol. - I’ll seriously try it this year

I hope GenCon isn’t like a swamp march - The air cinditioner better be working properly lol. But I’ll try the sock thing as an experiment :)
