been awhile since i watched a video of yours . been turning bowls and have ran out of boards so i went back to watch the master of cutting boards to get some ideas . really nice board gives me an idea . gonna change it up a little bit when i hit the lotto im coming to visit
Your videos are very relaxing to watch. Like listening to 70's elevator music with master craftsman. I like how you take your time and do everything carefully.
I really love your work. I have watched many of your videos since I discovered you. I am going to try my woodworking skills on one of these cutting boards. Probably a basic one first. I don't have your skill level. Thanks for sharing. I love how you include your little shop "helpers" in the project. Nice touch.
I built a brick pattern cutting board and just wanted to say thanks for your video. It was very helpful in making my plan of attack for the project. I also uploaded a video of the process. Cheers.
You make really beautiful things. I love the careful craftsmanship put into all of these. Lol I wish my fiance had the tools and abilities to make this kind of beautiful stuff. My house would look cozy and welcoming with it, especially knowing the hard work, passion and care put into it all.
great work. I'm wanting to try my hand at a woodworking project for the first time and want to work with Wenge. I'll have to try out your mineral oil trick when I do. keep up the great work
Wenge is by far my favorite wood. I was in my local lumberyard the other day getting wood for a tabletop and it always catches my eye more than any other wood.
Thank You for your assistance in my trying to make this board! When I re-attempt I will send you pictures. So glad I found your web-cite and plans page. :)
Nice, Brick Wall Cutting Board! I like your work a lot. You gave me an idea for my house. I'm new to woodworking, so I'm going to make a fake chimney to decorate the living room of my house. I'm going to build it in wood, and the look i'm hopping to achieve is brick look. I was going to paint the brick all over the chimney but instead i will try to replicate what i just learn from you and build the wall of brick. Its look easy to make.
Hello. Great work as always. At around 5:36 you were cutting the maple cement lines, but only going through halfway and then flipping it to finish the cut. My question is why. Thank you
Love this video and the expertise is astonishing. I would pay you to clean up your shop to see you work but I see you already have two helpers in training.
Around the 9:42 mark you are putting on another coat of what I am assuming is board butter to the boards. What are you using to melt it in the background? It's hard to tell what it might be for sure.
Wow, this is stunning! You are a very skilled wood worker! I wish so badly that I had you to help me with my house. it needs your skill set badly! Great work! Very well done!
I notice you never seem to have "glue creep". Boards sliding during glue up. I alway have the issue. How do you control it? The shop cleanup crew did a nice job. JimE
Do the following: Just slightly fix first two clamps at one side of the board, controlling the position of glued strips. Then rotate the board, clamp another side and tighten all four clamps with the same pressure. It works.
mtmwood yeah that one is cool, have you ever just glued up some pieces together and then cut them and rearrange them to see what pattern it makes? Thanks sam
Nice music on that video. There is something relaxing about your video... The white noise of the saw, the methodology, and meticulousness of your work, please my OCD part. Awesome work as usual.
Good Video! Just curious, how long from start to finish does it take (experienced woodworker) not including glue time...with similar tools,....ballpark estimate...I want to know if i have enough time before my wife's birthday...and how many games i have to give up...
You de man !!!! I bought a few planks of wenge, and it ain't cheap. It's also quite poisonous ,and I wouldn't have thought it would be the best choice for a cutting board.
@mtmwood Great job! Are you planing the board at 7:55? I was under the impression you are not to plane end grains. But it seemed to work fine for you... Do you have an opinion on planing end grains? Has it ever caused your projects or tools any problems? Thanks
Did you read the bit about damage to the central nervous system, when inhaling the dust bit 😉 Or the fact that splinters will almost inevitably become infected😉 I bought mine from a dealer from Africa, and he warned me about its effects before I googled it. It doesn't stop me working with it,but I do take extra care when working with it 😃 YA still the best on RUclips ,love your stuff !! ( even the CNC stuff now 😉) John
You wrote about cutting board, not about working with wenge. Dust of almost woods is dangerous, especially oak (risk of cancer). I work a lot with oak, so I pay a big attention to good dust collection. The wenge splinters are really unpleasant.:(
I see lots of pros making end grain boards using woods like White Oak, Wenge etc... I have found these woods very difficult to work with because of the grainy, porous nature... how do these boards hold up with daily use? Are they durable? Do they require more frequent re-sealing?
This is beautiful work, but why use the wax at all? Shouldn't the soaking bath in the mineral oil be enough with some buffing? It just seems like the wax prevents the surface from being as smooth as it could and leaves streaks.
Also: how many hours of sanding with the ROS to get rid of all the planer/sander marks? It takes me about 4-8 hours with 40 grit... am I completely doing it wrong or is this normal?
How hard is the pressure supposed to be when applied with the pipe clamps? Can you put too much that it squeezes most of the glue out and it doesn't glue well?
been awhile since i watched a video of yours . been turning bowls and have ran out of boards so i went back to watch the master of cutting boards to get some ideas . really nice board gives me an idea . gonna change it up a little bit when i hit the lotto im coming to visit
Wenge, You're a brave man with that wood being as splintery as it is. Excellent work!
Right.
Okay, now after watching five videos, I'm a subscriber. Thanks for sharing the beautiful woodworking.
I can't stop watching your videos, help me =)
Vilen Saatsazov ditto. This guy has some amazing designs and a talent for finding efficiency in making these!
Your videos are very relaxing to watch. Like listening to 70's elevator music with master craftsman. I like how you take your time and do everything carefully.
Those are bloody gorgeous. Best brick patterned boards I've seen on YT

That's a "State Of The Art" wood shop you have there. Not one thing is missing, very impressive. Your work,....best I've ever seen. Keep it up.
I've watched this video 20 times and it always makes me want a drum sander! I want to do this so bad
A good hand plane can get you nice thin strips. Also thin strips attached to a piece of MDF and light passes through a planer works.
My lord your work is amazing. What a incredible talent you have. Truly your are a master craftsmen. I am blown away by your craftsmanship.
these kind of videos are so satisfying and then the finished product looks amazing, i would buy one of these handmade!
Phoenix Feather للللل

+Inocente Sandoval Thanks!
+Inocente Sandoval So i am not the only one lol

Biz_Markie91 why dont you want the skills and tools yourself?
Nothing wrong with someone looking for more traditional gender roles.
Biz_Markie91 you sound likelike the type willing to cheat for the sakeof anothers stuff, scanky
Great boards, great videos. You're doing it so right!

Purely a safety issue

Lots of bricks, amazing job.
Around the 9:42 mark you are putting on another coat of what I am assuming is board butter to the boards. What are you using to melt it in the background? It's hard to tell what it might be for sure.

mtmwood Thanks. I'll try it.
I thought maybe it was that I don't wear a glove on my right hand while clamping. :-) ???
blackemmons My glove is magic.:)
blackemmons - I've been waiting for someone to mention the Magog glue up glove that magically keep slippage from happening HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Which chopping board are you most proud of because if it was me I'd be proud of them all as there absolutely awesome!!!
My favorite is "Butterfly". When I came up with this design, it was a revelation.:)
Although the "Wave" is more complex.
mtmwood yeah that one is cool, have you ever just glued up some pieces together and then cut them and rearrange them to see what pattern it makes? Thanks sam
Samuel Johnson Yes, I often make boards without drawings.
Excelente trabajo, y el min 10:50 es de lo más hermoso. Felicidades.
You are a devoted artist. :)
Wow wow wow Awesome 👏🏽👏🏽
Holy Cow that was Fantastic!
На это можно смотреть бесконечно.

Mate , I love the kids at the end
Beautiful work
Thanks!
Мальчишки чудесные!
awesome work
Those patterns must be really popular among brick layers and another construction men lol.
Nice job btw :)
Wow,, wenge is an interesting choice for a cutting board. Very pricey! I think walnut would look just as good and probably cheaper.
☺😊
Work final child s
...
Beautiful Design
You de man !!!!

It's also quite poisonous ,and I wouldn't have thought it would be the best choice for a cutting board.
There is no scientific data. www.wood-database.com/lumber-identification/hardwoods/wenge/
At the beginning at 0:37 in what are those measurements ? Mm ,inches, cm? Please respond need for a school project
mm
so beautiful

Dude awesome push stick
Gorgeous!
Looks very nice, like chocolate bar.
I see lots of pros making end grain boards using woods like White Oak, Wenge etc... I have found these woods very difficult to work with because of the grainy, porous nature... how do these boards hold up with daily use? Are they durable? Do they require more frequent re-sealing?
Had to turn down sound cause neighbors thought it was porn
My wife just asked me if I was watching porn..
Uputz It is woodwork porn :v
lolllll im dying of laughter!😂😂😂😂😂😂
but what about the saw sounds?!?!
Uputz ...lmfao!
classic design.... great job.
This is beautiful work, but why use the wax at all? Shouldn't the soaking bath in the mineral oil be enough with some buffing? It just seems like the wax prevents the surface from being as smooth as it could and leaves streaks.
Замечательные карапузы!
lovely kids at the end
Good work... Congratulation!!!
Смотрю - шуруповерт фестул. Этот человек даже от прикручивания шильдика хочет получать удовольствие.
Устал выбрасывать Макиты. Этот уже пять лет как новый.
really cool looking wish you would have explain some of it. liked that large planer
Thanks!
Masterpiece 👌🏻
Outstanding work! I know you used Wenge, but what was the black 'brick' colored wood on the boards at the end of the video made from? Thanks
Another wood is sapele
I was curious, would you use an ink roller to spread glue? I can not decide between an ink roller or paint roller.
Daniel Ridley No, only paint roller, pile length 12 mm - ruclips.net/video/k-1I6y5Pz4g/видео.html
Thank you, I appreciate your help
Love your work
Thanks!
Also: how many hours of sanding with the ROS to get rid of all the planer/sander marks? It takes me about 4-8 hours with 40 grit... am I completely doing it wrong or is this normal?
В том что времени не хватает согласен. Целый день могу быть в мастерской только в выходные. Спасибо за информацию.
How hard is the pressure supposed to be when applied with the pipe clamps? Can you put too much that it squeezes most of the glue out and it doesn't glue well?
