Captain you did the right thing. You did all you could do. You cant take the risk of letting them on your boat. These days it’s far too risky. This should be a lesson for everyone in this situation. You dont know for sure that they were even broke down. They Could have been trying to steal someones boat. You did the wise thing.

There was two native young guys from Great harbour Cay that went fishing and their motor went out. They drifted almost to West Palm Beach, a boat that was so happens to be going to Great Harbour Cay from Florida saw them drifting and did nothing because how they looked, I heard they told some of the locals when they reach to GHC and they were blasted for leaving them without calling for help by the locals. So cap thank you for keeping yourself safe and calling for help.

"If" they were legit in distress it's on them for setting out in a boat without their proper equipment!!!! Had a similar situation myself years ago back in Culebra, PR assisting a boater!!!! Different outcome but non the less dealt with an irresponsible boater with a woman and small child on the boat!!!

I broke down two seasons ago on the Hudson river when my outboard started smoking. I called Sea tow and they towed me back the 3 miles back to my launch site. They charged me $1300. My homeowners insurance actually paid for it or my car insurance one or the other. But now I am a Sea tow member for like 135 a year. I admire the way you fixed that boat to live aboard. Wish I had watched your channel before spending way more to modify the Carver for similar trips. Takes me 10 hours to make the same crossing you do in 2 or 3. Good call about the other boat. I would have done exactly the same. Good rule about swimming vs not swimming rescue.

Thank you so much Jack for watching another series of my channel and I have thought about adding a kicker motor but if if I did that I cannot have the minkota Trolling motor because that would be too much weight so I had to choose from one of them and the minkota was the best choice because I can still move the boat at at 3 to 4 miles per hour on good conditions

Friend of mine blew one motor going out. It cost him 800.00 to be towed 2 miles back to the ramp. The next day he got a sea tow membership. The next year he was 10 miles off shore and both motors stopped working. Cost him no t hing to be towed back. I would have done the same, not allow them to board my boat. Except would have stayed near by till coast guard or towing company showed up.
