im a pom but i've followed this wonderful game and im proud to say collingwood whenever the sports been shown in the uk since the 80's and its by far the greatest game of all this and up cazaly sum it up for me sheer bloody magic
Still brings tears to my eyes when I see Ted Whitten and his son on the thier lap on the MCG. Poor EJ couldnt't see and relied on Ted jnr... they look SO proud of each other, what an inpirational sight they were!
Can’t believe I just found this ❤️ always loved the song but I’m overwhelmed with what Kevin did with putting this together with our football players..it’s just fantastic 🥰..❌
Great song and video - captures the halcyon days of the game and gives goosebumps. As much as we revel in the interstate rivalry caper, it's impossible to deny that all codes of football, collectively, sum up the Australian culture and instill Aussie pride like no other medium can.
@mistertube10 Couldn't agree more! Great to see rational commentary instead of vindictive invective & negative sentiments expressed for a change! - Take a Bow, Sir! -"BloodRed."-
I'm from the Suburbs of Melb (known now as EDFL), but my memories are the same, my Dad played 460 games, so I spent my entire childhood on My Mums BYO hot dogs and soft drinks in the back of the station wagon, sitting on the bonet of the Kingswood with a rope to pull the horn! I LOVE that my kids now go to Footy with my parents and eat the same BYO hot dogs and soft drinks! Aussie Rules, I really do Thankyou, for the best years of my life!!!
The one true National game and what a reminder of my Childhood years, growing up in Country Victoria..The game, the glue that bound the community. The cars around the boundary, horns tooting, the ladies in the canteen shed boiling Savs, the bloke on the scoreboard stand changing tin numbers...Wow! And I couldn't think of a better song to go with it
footy USED to be so good when it was a saturday arvo outing and it wasn't AFL and youu were allowed to show passion without giving away a free kick...those were the days.
Tuddy, EJ, Big Carl, Jezza, Lethal, Fabulous, Big Nick, Barass, KB ,Roycey Fart Vanda, Wee Georgie, Slammin Sam, The Doc, Stewie, Huddo, Peter McKenna, Big Len, Balmey, Robbie Flower, the Flea, Muzza, Cowboy Neale, Barry Breen, " The Centreline... Bourke- Barrot- Clay,", Skilts, Twiggy, Little Timmy Watson, Sheeds, Bucken-ara, Gazza, Sammy Newman, Silly Billy,Schimma, Stan ( Alves or Magro),Wadey, Rossy Smith, Bernie, Roundy does the rest of the world know who these blokes are?
I would Love to take my boys to more AFL games, just a pity it cost almost a Days wage for 4 of us to go to the "G". Thankfully they are happy with a day at our Local EDFL club!
Fantastic! Brings back the memories of my childhood in Victoria..the passion! We lived for Saturdays and Carlton victories ! Thank you Kevin Johnson..for a classic song, and thank you Carlton..for the 8 wonderful Flags!
@melbgal I totally agree. I also got to watch the EDFL [now EFL] and i only go to one AFL game per year. I would love to go to a AFL grand final but just carnt aford it.
I live in Sydney now Bluey. Every couple of months I come back to watch this,to, to raise the hairs on my neck. To remember. For childhood memories, the smell of tiger balm in the rooms, the Melbourne afternoons in Spring, Jesaulenko, Kenny Hunter, the Flying doormat....When I retire I'll be on the first plane out of Sin City and back home to glorious Melbourne and more Carlton Flags..its time now, its Judd, its good!

melbgal That's for sure mate!😢
My childhood spent with my mum watching Teddy. The Lap of Honour remains one of the most emotional moments in any sport. R.I.P. EJ.
Amen brother brother ❤

I thank you for the laughter and I thank you for the tears...and I thank you for just helping us overcoming our fears.
When I hear this song I can't help but think of the kids these days Looking Up To Their Heroes like Fyfe, and Selwood, and Roughead
They say Nowt stays the same
,but the memories still remain. We are blessed by being the
custodians of-"THE Game"'
Long may it Thrive...
-"BloodRed"-
still makes me cry
I miss my country and footy 70.80 s bull shit woke today 2024
Great version of Kevin's 1973 hit "Rock and Roll I Gave You The Best Years Of My Life".
The AFL should reuse it.
GO BLUES.

IfyouseeKay. I wish NRL had something like this.
Frank Philpott no. Their centenary theme in 2008 was quite disappointing
U provide a link I wanna watch or at least tell me what the video is called
Nothing beats the original version of this song.
This game epitomises this country it’s our beautiful great game so unique in every aspect which makes it so special
"3KZ IS Football!" NOBODY surpassed Captain Blood, Jack Dyer!

because they played the year in 1897. 1897 has to be counted as a year, not a zero year.
1897 is the 1st season of the vfl/afl
