I have bought a 981 Spyder in Guardians red with carbon bucket seats almost 3 years ago. It's an absolutely awesome car and I really love it. I have been thinking about trading it for a 718 Spyder but the pure emotions and the rough character of the 981 Spyder are unique, the GT suspension of the 718 is primarily helpful on racetracks whereas the Spyder is made for beautiful B-roads, the alps or Southern France. It's a great sweet spot between a modern sportscar and the emotions that only older cars use to have.
So the same as a 718 gts 4.0 boxster
Or the 981 gts
Servicing it would annoy me to get behind the seats through the passage. But yeah it's so brilliant. ...how are you getting on with the service and its costs ....
@Ttaje Service needs to be done every 2 years. I would say that the costs aren't much higher compared to the other German premium brands.
Your miss the noise of the 981 if you do.

mid rear engine flat six...low cog, well balanced...just about the best combination...alway sliked the spyder for its raw approach...great content
The shifter seems to be amazing, allowing very quick shifts!

Yes, 981 Spyder comes standard with the factory Porsche short shifter, which I added to my old 05 Boxster S. It’s worth the $$$. Makes the shifts feel like a rifle bolt.
I’ve always loved the Porsche Cayman but this one is my new dream car, everything is just perfection to me 😍❤️

The 981 Boxster is a super lightweight Roadster with a Flat-6 Engine in the middle...how great is that? Definitely an underrated car.
I own my second 987.2S in manual, a class lower than the Spyder but let me say this - 981 Spyder is known as a benchmark for sound, nothing sounded quite like it afterwards. And they look amazing.
The 987.2S is an awesome car, too. I drove one some years ago. It feels more analog compared to the Spyder, almost like a modern classic. Really liked it!
I'm another 987.2 BS owner and it is such a wonderful driver with the top down on twisty country roads. The Spyder's were out of my budget but the BS is everything that I need for a fun roadster. Without the PSE it has a Jekyll and Hyde personality, quiet in my neighborhood and howling above 4500 RPM.

I have seen your review on the yellow 981 Spyder last year, enjoyed it. Fingers crossed for you to own one of these beautiful cars one day, in UK they are even more rare than here in Germany.

@@thedrivebygg That seems to be a bit less than on the German market. Here we have to pay at least 90-95k, for very good ones more than 100k€.

I have a sapphire blue 981 Spyder with PCCBs and LWB seats. There are faster cars, there are cars with more power. But there are VERY few cars that are so pure, so precise and so much fun. And the gear shifter is one of the finest Porsche makes. Top down on a warm summer’s night with that SOUND-el primo!!
Mine is GT Silver over Garnet Red, I love the color combo with the yellow PCCB.

Really like the design of this car
Manual 6 speed 718 Spyder + = King. No other Porsche handles like it, sounds like and shifts like nothing like the critics who don’t own one. BTW roof makes it special.

Great video!! Enjoyed every second of if. Just to add my opinion, the 981 spyder is a gateway between the 981 boxster gts and the new 718 gts (design wise). Engine wise I'd say the gt4 cayman has the engine of a boxster spyder. It's similar to the Lamborghini reventon having a 6.5L V12 that was passed down to the Aventador

Awesome review, the car is very fun and sounds amazing! The Spyder is about lightweight and purist driving experience. The 981 generation is the sweet spot of modern chassis and design but keeps the lightweight and analog feel.
For the 718 I wish Porsche kept the Spyder as the lightweight model and the GT4 as the track model like the 981 generation. The GT suspension on the 718 added extra weight and electronics. 100kg heavier than the 981! This extra weight loses the purist feel and charm that the 981 has.
It is a handsome car! I do disagree on it looking aggressive though, that front grill and the headlights make it "smile" quite gloriously.
The only convertible I'd ever buy
It´s baby Carrera GT with 6 Zyl Boxer engine :-) The HP this car have is perfect for legal roads, because everything above 400 hp is just way to fast and you are not even able to rev out the cars.
But all the 6 Zyl 981 Models are just making tons of fun. Maybe there are some modded Golfs and Cupras, that are faster, but who cares.
The want is STRONG with this one… 😍
