      These were “bargain bin” games that would have been sold at gas stations or anyplace they could find for 5 or 10 bucks at most. PAC-MAN and E.T. Were practically a masterpiece compared to these.

    All three Mythicon games were programed by the same guy, Bruce De Graaf. Bill Bryner did the music. Mythicon was a budget brand. Their games listed for $7 or $8 each, a mere fraction of what other publishers charged. With the 2600 both the graphics and sound were produced by the TIA chip, which was included in the Atari 7800 for backwards compatibility. On Firefly the Difficulty switches aren't used. Toggle the Select switch for either Game 2 (Normal single player) or Game 4 (Expert single player). Game 1 is Practice Mode. As for Star Fox, they had begun work on Star Fox II when the company went under. According to the forums at AtariAge no code survives. There there are a series of emails from the programmer where he admits to being responsible for 3 of the 10 worst games for the 2600. As for Bugs, you control that game with a Paddle controller. The Joystick won't work.

    Great choices! It's easy to make a worst Atari 2600 games list because there were hundreds of bad games. I was a lucky little boy because my uncle would bring me games after he'd already played them, so I received 95% good games. But a couple of bad ones made their way to me. The worst I played during that era was Swordquest Earthworld. I believe what you say about those two companies, but the worst videogame developer (in the sense of one person) was Tod Frye. He made the Swordquest games, which were all unplayable, and he even managed to turn the best videogame in the world (Pac-Man) into a bad game. He never made a good game in his life. He was King Midas in reverse: everything he touched turned to garbage!
    If you ever make a best Atari 2600 games list, you should check out some great titles that few people know about: Polaris, Room Of Doom, Bumper Bash, Thunderground, Rabbit Transit, Off the Wall, Seawolf, Subterranea, Gravitar, Mines Of Minos, Dark Chambers. I've never seen a good best Atari games list because people only play the obvious games like Space Invaders, Yar's Revenge, Adventure, Frogger, Asteroids, Phoenix, Berzerk, Missile Command, and Jungle Hunt. Those are all masterpieces, but all the lists I've watched omit some great games in favor of a few bad and mediocre ones, such as Laser Blast (awful game), Demon Attack (a Phoenix clone without the boss battles), Pitfall and Pitfall 2 (mediocre games through and through), and Raiders of the Lost Ark (an unplayable mess).

      Wow thanks for the awesome comment! Great idea btw, I'll totally do like a "underrated gems" type video for the 2600 and include those games if I can get my hands on them. Luckily most Atari games are fairly cheap so shouldn't be a problem. Even a video on Tod Frye wouldn't be a bad idea. Thanks again for watching!

    You really weren't being fair to Mythicon. The score comes up when you use the game select before the game started. Also unlike SSSNake you can actually play the games. The Mythicon games also had background music which was very rare in Atari games. Also I will say I love the music in Fire Fly.

  • @bjbasser
    @bjbasser 2 года назад +3

    So for all the Mythicon games, you're just in "practice" mode, so that's why there's no score counter or life counter. If you switch to another difficulty it gives you lives and a score objective to work towards.
    Should do a little bit of research for that, all of that info was found in the manual and easily confirmed with other video footage and screenshots that it gives score and lives.
    Not saying the games aren't bad or don't deserve the spot on the list, but you shouldn't be reviewing on false info. Read the manual first, especially for older systems like the Atari as it had so much info and it could take forever to figure out things just trying to play with the switches and not knowing what they do.
    Edit: and in all of the Mythicon game's cases, they don't use the Difficulty switch, but the game select switch to adjust what you're playing on.

    • @KaptainKlassic
      @KaptainKlassic  2 года назад

      I didn't even think to try and switch the difficulty to B. Yeah, should have done that first. Hopefully the video was good regardless, but yeah that was my bad.

    • @zazelby
      @zazelby 2 года назад +1

      @@KaptainKlassic It's not the difficulty switch, it's the Select button, which changes the game variation. There's five game variations: one human with a smiley face (the practice mode), one human, two humans (two-player alternating game), one human with a circle (hard mode), and two players with a circle between them. All three games have the same five game variations in the same order.
      I find all three of them to be awful anyway.
