Amazing interview.... I live many according to many of the things stated and have huge appreciation for my macro nutrients of life. Where I fall down is having things I don't use. Time to post this saying on my wall and start a process to get more enjoyment out of life.... "The more you own, the more it owns you." (not sure who wrote it but it's been stated many ways). So true
I love Max and I love Dr Brooks every time I hear him interviewed. This conversation, in particular, shared info that is very timely for me. Timely and challenging. And, I have been wondering if Max is still in a relationship, so I’m happy to hear his girlfriend referenced. I hope it’s going well.
Happiness is subjective, much of what depends on sociocultural influences (including all the cheap pop-psychology we're being bombarded with on social media these days), upbringing, personal experiences, and education. As for religion, I'm very happy to be atheist. Religion, as we know, can be very destructive. Americans seem to be more aggressive about political views than in other western countries. On a different topic, Max Lugavere really needs to work on his posture. I'd recommend the Alexander technique. Just saying, and it's very noticeable and important for longterm health.
As an atheist, I don’t really follow politics and I do find meaning in other areas of life like my friends, family and connections I make. I find meaning in my accomplishments, big or small. Reading, learning, poetry, music, dancing, exercise etc..As a Christian, I stayed in an unhealthy marriage with someone who guilted me into fighting to make things work despite him constantly hurting and neglecting me. Today I’m in a much happier relationship who does not judge me for not believing in God.
I am glad that you have escaped a difficult relationship and sorry for you that your experience of Christian love has been so hurtful. Peace and joy going forward my friend.
Don’t you think the logo “live the life you want” is why people aren’t happy? We do well in hierarchies within social climates. The pursuit to happiness is obedience to our creator. To accept there is a god and we AREN’T it!!
