Maybe George didn't live in Stardew Valley until he met Evelyn, my thought pattern on this is George worked in the mines so he was possibly just part of a traveling work crew? He may have just attended the winter festival with his buddies and threw a snowball at the local girl.
I could see it. I was once a young guy in a group of young guys. I know we're not always the nicest people.
I imagined George being related to someone in the valley and visiting them for the festival. When he threw some snowballs at his friends or cousins, he accidentally hit Evelyn.

Yes, George is even in the Linus's trash cutscene, talking about "racoons" digging through the trash, so maybe he told that to Evelyn and she either decided to give the cookies to the racoons, or she figured out that its a person and decided to give those to that person?

i think the fact that its heartbreaking at times is what makes it comforting. its not all sunshine and rainbows, its realistic. you can walk around the valley and be reminded of someone you know, or someone you want to meet, and you can grow with them.

I think it's more relaxing because it's realistic. It gives a sense of control. I know that Shane is a fucked up alcoholic but I can help him through that by simply giving him amaranth twice a week. I know that terrible corporations are ruining the town but i can make them go away by giving wine to forest spirits. I can't control other peoples addiction or capitalism's grip on the world in real life, and its nice to be able to do that in SDV
I miss being 7, when I first played, and barley understanding the implications of what's going on, the darkness of what's going on, how depressing it was. My eyes and mind weren't mature enough to see dark. They could only see the light.

My headcannon is that Evelyn and Grandpa were very close growing up and knew each other basically their entire lives. The two started dating and were high school sweethearts, but Grandpa left the valley to pursue a career/see the world before settling down, and the two broke up just in case he decided to not come back. Evelyn met George at the Ice Festival, and Grandpa met Grandma outside of Pelican Town, but Grandpa and Evelyn stayed in contact with each other frequently as the years went by. I also headcannon that Evelyn very briefly met the PC at Grandpa's funeral, but because the PC was so young, they don't remember her. That's why she's so super friendly to you after such a short time of knowing her.

It definitely wouldn't be a surprise if Grandpa and Granny were together. I always like to imagine that either Granny, and Grandpa were once engaged but Grandpa called it off and Granny followed him into Pelican Town to demand answers or Claire, Alex's mother, was our Grandpa and Granny's secret love child and Granny passed her off as George but George knew the truth and was very cruel towards Claire. It explains why she got involved in an abusive relationship with Alex's dad and maybe Alex knows it too deep down on a subconscious level.
....Actually, this makes way too much sense, and why Alex has the least romantic cutscenes out of all of the romantic candidates. Alex might actually be our half-cousin.

@@bootscats2928 I remember seeing a video about this. Apparently in an interview he said that the opening cutscene was added super last-minute and the cot was super rushed. CA considered redoing it but at that point people had already started making memes about it so he decided to leave it as is

1) It’s possible that George threw the snowball at Evelyn on purpose because he liked her & didn’t know how to introduce himself or talk to her on his own
& 2) Evelyn also seems to be oddly concerned with you, she’s always telling you stuff like put on a warmer jacket. There’s also a scene where she shows up on your farm & tells you about how glad she is that you’ve repaired the farm so much (I don’t remember how to activate this scene since I don’t believe it’s a heart event)
I mean... george also is caring towards the player when you have many hearts with him 🤔 like asking "arent you cold? they dont make sweaters like they used to"
i know this comment is like a year old lol but i believe her showing up is by unlocking the greenhouse, because that's when she gives you the pot that lets you grow things inside
In my personal headcanon, the way Evelyn and George met was purely because of Lewis (not mayor at the time, and Grandpa was still around). At the festival, Lewis teased that George is too hot headed to have a wife someday, to which George angrily tried to hurl a snowball at him. Lewis evaded the snowball, and it accidentally hit Evelyn, who was the next one in line of the snowball. After that, the rest was history.

I like to imagine Evelyn and Grandpa grew up together, not inherently related but with such a strong friendship they were basically soulmates! Perhaps she met George a year or so before Grandpa passed, and then ended up falling in love with him.

Maybe he made George go make sure Evelyn was alright, possibly after a stray snowball hit her from the 2 young guys having an impromptu snowball fight. Which would make the snowball thing make more sense than him just throwing it at her for no reason.

I don't think Evelyn cheated on George, maybe grandpa was in love with her for years but she didn't respond to those feelings, or maybe they dated when they were younger and he held on to that.
Those are possibilities! It could also just be a picture of another old lady (grandma) who just happens to look similar!

To be honest? I started playing this game after my grandma had an accident and got paralyzed so when I saw Evelyn and how kind she was to me, my heart almost broke and I cried. I needed someone like that again, I needed to call someone my beloved grandma, someone I could learn from and truly love
my head cannon is :
evelyn asked gramps out, gramps rejected her because his friend george, (from ginger island, since his grandpa was a farmer) was infatuated with her
george came and visited every festival, one day working up courage to “ask” evelyn
assuming grandpa moved from the valley , he later heard that evelyn and george were married and had a child. Grandpa realized after he moved he was in love with evelyn and died of heartbreak. That’s why he had a picture of evelyn

Alex is probably one of the younger marriage candidates - let's say he's 18 or 19. So Clara was certainly born more than 30 years ago. Could Evelyn have had a first husband (grandpa?) - or even a child out of wedlock? That could explain part of George's grumpiness; he never wanted kids and now is stuck with one in his house because of Evelyn's bad decisions before they ever met.

It's possible that Evelyn and Grandpa were together at one point but you're still not related to Alex. Maybe Grandpa's kid was from another woman, perhaps someone he didn't really love, even a fling, which is why Evelyn's picture is on the mantle. He loved her but she chose George.

my theory on George is that George had seen her but purposefully stayed away from her because he had a crush on her. he finally built up courage at the festival of ice and sense he probably doesn't know how to show proper affection he threw a snowball at her. George became embarrassed and checked on her. :)

its pinky lemon on the fire place mantle its one of the three secret statues you can get by placing special items in interactable crates in the valley. pinky lemon can be obtained by placing a duck mayonnaise in the blue box behind a large barrel in the storage room of the pub that is assessed from the game room side. Although your version is interesting but once you see pinky lemon there will be no doubt in your mind its the statue. also as a side note if Evelyn was the player's grandmother then she would never approve the player being with Alex her other grandchild.

I like the idea that Grampa might have dated Evelyan once and never quite got over her after he left the valley and she might still be holding a candle for him considering certain things she says to the player about their eyes. Or that Grampa keeps a photo of Evelyan because she was somebody he held dear platonically, like maybe she was his closest and dearest friend when he lived in the Valley. ❤️

What if it's both? What if Evelynn was with Grandpa? But also isn't related to you? Maybe they dated once upon a time, but broke up under some weird circumstances where they both still cared for each other but couldn't be together. Maybe it was Grandpas work and she didn't think she could be the wife of someone who was a farmer, but also did dangerous things like explore the mines (and george only worked in the mines AFTER they were married)? Maybe her parents didn't approve of him? Maybe her parents thought that George was a better match for her. Maybe Grandpa moved away for a period of time and they decided to call it off, but when he came back she had already married George. There are enough theories about Linus being an adventurer that went far and wide, maybe grandpa did too.

I am sad that since we're inheriting grandpa's farm, there aren't any relatives of ours in town. Didn't my parents grow up here, or at least one of them? This is a family tree with no siblings, aunts uncles or cousins. That and only Lewis and Evelyn knew my grandpa, but would some of the other adults have known my parent growing up?
Especially because it's a small town, everyone knows everyone. It'd have been nice to have more family ties here.

Plus, the foto is kinda like those fotos were some people see an old hag and others see something else (can't remember what the other thing was, I always saw the old lady :D).
