Ive played them all and have done everything i could to get that perfect tone. Krank just sits in the background of the community and slams great tone. You would be shocked at how many metal bands endorsed by the other two that will throw in a krank during an album recording to get a little more mid grit in their mix. Its a fantastic amp.
James Elliott look Krank up again. Homeboy is back in business...for the time being. Not sure what the quality of the amps are at this point. The price is not as much as they used to be
Krank Rev1(with custom JJ tubes) + Mesa Recto cab + ESP Eclpse ll was my set up for years, absolutely brutal. I actually sold my Mesa Mark IV to pay for it when it first came out. Krank caught a lot of negative press when they were accused of writing fake positive reviews of their amps on different websites. They never really recovered from that tarnished image in the industry. Sad, I really liked their amps
I know this video is old but the Krank Revolution 1 sounds the best to me out of the 3. I'm a huge Mesa Fan and really also love the 5150 BUT that Krank sounds incredible. WOW I'm surprised they went under.
Thought the recto sounded better there then the peavey then the krank but I prefer the 5150 over the mesa personally and I have the krank rev1+ and it smashes the recto and the 5150
I just scored a rev1 plus, I keep reading g these shitty reviews and people on face book amp groups say it's terrible. It's exactly the opposite, it friggin slays, especially clean boosted with a metal zone. I am absolutely in love with it. I just tried my metal zone in the send of the fx loop and it was the most brutal tone I've gotten out of any of the amps I've owned to date. I'm looking to buy a klirrton grind stein soon.
I've never got my hands on a Krank. They sound pretty killer. I think they all sounded pretty damn good actually. Hard to rank then cause they all have their little distinct tones in each amp. I had a Duel for a few years and had the Peavey 5150 at the same time. Had to let one of them go. Still have the 5150.
Jim Flanagan thats funny. i use to own a krank rev around the same time i had a 5150 ii. the peavey killed the krank in the low end. i ended up trading it for a 5150. when i did own a rectifier i got rid of my peaveys except for my ultra plus
Every time I check one these comparisons someone says that Mesa Boogie is fuzzy I do not agree its Bullshit I have five different Mesa Boogies Rectifiers two minis and one 100 watts and two multi watt and '' NONE ARE FIZZY GIVE ME A BREAK I can make a fender amp fizzy with the right EQ settings, grow up and realize it's all in the eq I have a 5150 and I can make it sound like crap just by setting the EQ RIGHT FIZZ FOR DAYS Do your self a favor spend a little with the EQ OF A MESA AND SEE AND HEAR THE TRUTH !!!!!
@@procollect2053 and I guess you have no clue how to eq or even care its okay we get it there are going to be haters try boosting the front end with a clean boost if you even have a mesa or heres an ideal check out some other videos where they show you how to tighten up the sound FYI I also own two Krank Rev 1 + and agree its a great sounding amp
It doesn't matter how many Mesas you have, it doesn't change the fact that the Dual Recto in this specific recording is fizzy; or to be more precise, fizzier than the other two.
@@Nofarewell ah yes we have an expert here and how many have you owned ,none I AM GUESSING do not be a hater just because you can not afford one grow up
my personal opinion but the 5150 is set totally wrong. it has balls to the walls tone that I love also the mesa sounds to fizzy and it doesn't need to be. I've played all 3 and in my personal opinion the Krank sucks at cutting through the mix
Agree to disagree I guess. I’ve always found the mids on the Krank Rev to bee good and aggressive. They require a good balance between the presence, sweep and mids. I usually set my presence a 3, sweep around 5, mids at 7 and treble at 5. Cuts through cleanly and without punching you in the ear using a TS9. Lately I’ve been using the same EQ shown in this vid with a strong frown curve and pulling back a bit on the master gain and its been really solid on all of my amps to include my OG 5150. To each his own I guess. I have almost the same 5150 settings as in this video but with the mids and treble both at 4.

Never heard of Krank before this video but I think it is the winner for my ears in this test. Mesa is too fuzzy. Peavy is impressive too.
Too bad they went out of business. Krank made some of my favorite tube heads

The Krank has the most transparent, full bodied sound here.

They are unique and angry sounding amps!
5150 FOR LIFE! 🤘😁 they all sounded fantastic though

Thx!

Andrey P good video btw

thx ))
+18266609 To be fair, the settings for the Peavey were terrible
+Luke Kramer they depend on mic position
5150 for the win...all sounded good but the 5150 just does it...
very very cool! thanks for that
So there’s a 10 band eq in the loop for all the amps? Thanks!
Only for krank, to make it silent. He is too loud. Bands are flat
What tubes are in the Rev 1?
tung sol 6l6 + eh 12ax7
