    even though this didn't actually show me what I was looking for (how to adjust the door to be at center when closed ) it showed me that the top set screws would be where to make that adjustment. very informative and well shot.

    I always thought the handicap press button was wired. I always wondered how they wired thru a concrete wall. But now I know it was done by remote.

    I like the video; it was very informative. Unfortunately, it did not answer our most pressing issue. We have a two way door that sags when opened, at least in the inward direction (It is way off the ground going out). Can the elevation be adjusted?

    • @bradwardle3211
      @bradwardle3211  7 лет назад +4

      Bill Griffin the height can be adjusted. It's requires taking the door off. Once the door is off you need to raise the bottom pivot.
      First look at the top of the door and the header see how much you can raise it. Measure the gap to be sure, you want about 1/8" between the top of the door and the header.
      To take the door off you need to first undo the top bracket, where we talk about the slop. Take off the top bracket and tap the door off the top pivot.
      To adjust the bottom pivot you will need to first measure it floor to the top of the bottom pivot. This is important before you do anything. This will help you know how much you raise it.
      Raise the bottom pivot the distance you need to. Make sure it's tight. The door movement can cause the bottom pivot to lower over time.
      To sum it up:
      Measure the top of the door to the header gap (- 1/8" that's how much you want to raise the bottom pivot.)
      Take the door off
      Measure the height of the bottom pivot
      Raise the bottom pivot the gap between the header - 1/8"
      Put the door back on.
      Make sure it swings
      Use the newly adjusted door :)
      Let me know how it goes.

      Bill Griffin also make sure the door isn't sagging when it opens if it is I could be that the top pivot is moving

    Hi Brad, my front door is the same type as the one in this video. The problem I have is that the door now is sagging and rub on the floor plate. Is there a way to adjust this? Thank you so much for your help.

    • @74thinker
      @74thinker 7 лет назад +2

      The top of the door on the pivot side is already touching the door frame, it is the opposite side (door lock side) that sags.

    • @bradwardle3211
      @bradwardle3211  7 лет назад

      Hey Thong Le,
      If the lock side of the door is saggying, then there is an issue with the top pivot.
      Push the door where it's supposed to sit and let it go, it will show you where the problem is. You might need a new top pivot in the door.
      Can you email me some pictures and videos of the top pivot?

    Brad, we have a double swinging exterior door that the wind blows open constantly. Is there a solution for this?

    • @glasspetdoors
      @glasspetdoors 6 лет назад

      Greg Claiborne,
      First solution would be to replace the existing closure, you should be able to find it on Crlaurance.com or another site like that just search the model of the closure.
      Second solution but removes the double acting, add a stop on the inside of the door and apply two regular closures something like a Hager 5100 you can find them anywhere online.
      Your problem seems like the closures are failed.

    Hello Brad,
    Thank you for your video!
    My door has problem of rubbing top of the frame on the opposite side (door lock side). It looks my door has opposite problem, lifting rather than sagging. Is there any way to adjust it? By the way, it was working fine for couple decades:) Thank you again for your help!

    • @bradwardle3211
      @bradwardle3211  7 лет назад +1

      Tony Lee it sounds like the bottom pivot has raised up pushing the door up on the hinge side.
      To fix it you would need to remove the door and adjust the door down.
      Good tip- before adjusting the bottom pivot make sure you measure how tall it is from the ground. You will want about 1/8" between the door header and the frames header. So if it's tight now lower the bottom pivot 1/8" and test. Half turns matter

      Simon Leong do you mean swinging like the slop I talked about in the video or it’s swinging to much before it closes?

    Hi I have a door that is rubbing on the button threshold how can I fix it thank you

    • @guillermocruz7122
      @guillermocruz7122 4 года назад

      If its rubbing evenly you have to adjust the bottom pivot.
      If its rubbing on the strike side only:
      1) some doors have an adjustment screew on top of the door you turn it clockwise and the door will lift up.
      You can also remove the glass stop and reposition the settings blocks holding the glass and door will move up, it's kind of difficult to explain without a video.

    • @bradwardle3211

      Brighton Travelodge can you explain what you mean stay open? Is the door seating off center? If so their are two bolts that set the center adjustment just look at the top of the door on a ladder and you will see the closer arm and will be able to adjust it.

      @@bradwardle3211 The doors are aligned ok. The problem I have is that when someone opens the door it stays wide open. I need the doors not to stay open as they are security doors. Hope that makes sense?

    • @bradwardle3211
      @bradwardle3211  4 года назад

      Brighton Travelodge I would check the closer nipple to see if it is worn out at all, it’s probably not turning the closer at all.

    • @bradwardle3211
      @bradwardle3211  4 года назад +1

      Brighton Travelodge you could also purchase another closer and apply it to the door to close it also if that seems easier. I suggest the Hager 9100 with a drop plate.
