Very helpful - took me several tries over a few days to finally get my key to turn in the lock to the ACC position and as soon as I did I moved the car and disconnected the battery and pulled the ignition out as I watched your video - nice job! Thank you!
Recently purchased this model, do you have to lightly push the key in while turning to start it? It says push on the switch, so I'm assuming you do? Just asking cause every other car I've owned you can stick it in, flip it right over without having to lightly push the key while turning

Do you need an ignition by kia. L have a 2008 Santa Fe i have to undo cable to battery. Or it will go dead. Key will not go to lock. But car will start
@@ashleyd4589 I just figured mine out--I did a couple rounds of wd40, then shaking/turning steering wheel (low to medium aggression), while jostling key....eventually it worked itself free. The problem will persist if, after getting it started, you don't add MORE wd40 in the mechanism while turning key on/off, on/off. The fix works but even with mine, I think it's just time to replace key lock cylinder. Even if I don't do that soon, at least I know what the problem is .... Good luck!! Edit: mind you, I went back to the car up to 4 times before the wd40 settled into the problem area. Even then it was ahassle--but this "hack" works
Could try tapping the lock cylinder while applying light pressure to the key. Sometimes the little pieces get stuck and a little vibration may help get things moving
@@RCKHUGrAdventures okay appreciate you and I think to get another Otombler or whatever the Key ignitionn is called bc it comes with another key correct? If so you would just have to get the new key programmed

YET ANOTHER useless video about "turning it to the on position" YOU ALREADY SAW there were a ton of videos showing that... WHY add to it? many people cant turn to the "on position AT ALL. hence the need to replace it. Not ONE video on that.
I installed this today. I finally got the old one to turn to ACC and then I removed it. I turned the new one to ACC and installed it. Problem is I now can’t turn the new one to ON or RUN (which I could do no problem before I installed it) and now that the old one is out, I can turn the old one no problem from OFF to ACC to ON to everything. Apparently this was NOT the problem piece. 😠 There is also a white plastic piece on the backside of the ignition column that I’m going to look around in that space first just to see if I see something broken or obviously wrong. Otherwise I’ll try replacing that white plastic piece next. 😢
There have been comments about using WD40 or some other lubricator down where the key goes. When mine went out, my son was able to move the key around, up and down and get it just right to where it would turn. Others have said that you have to remove the entire assembly from the car and punch out the pin with a punch and hammer. I was lucky and got the key to twist.

Yes. There is no special programming needed.

You can use any part that your local parts store has. It does not have to be a KIA part.
When you replace the ignition key switch does it need to reprogram?
No. The new keys do not have chips. No progrmming needed.
I lost the old key. Can I switch it without the old keys? Please say yes!
You need the old key in order to remove the key switch.
So I am trying to do mine but it is frozen. The key does not turn at all so I can not put it in run at all

Are you able to pop it out without it being in acc
No. It must be in ACC or the release button won't push in. I haven't researched what to do if the key has been lost.

The one I got came with 2 keys. For the 2007, the keys are not electronic so they do not need programmed.
I have mine taken apart but the key won’t turn on the new one. It needs to be on acc but is stuck on lock. Help!

Didn't you have to push in a pin to get it out?
Yes there’s a pin on the left side. I used the short end of an Allen wrench to push it in and then the entire ignition slid right out.

my keyhole is jammed and I cannot select ACC to release key pod; any answers??
If you can't put a key in the lock and it won't turn, the only thing I know to do is drill out the keyhole. It doesn't sound fun but will work.

What if I can't put it in the acc position??? It's stuck on lock
I haven't found a way around having to put it in the ACC position. Fortunately, after much effort and trying, I was able to finally get it to move.

What if u have a broken key in there stuck in the lock position? (The key did not go to the car idiot broke wrong key in the ignition)
