The position he plays means he doesnt have many spectacular highlights, but he does all of his jobs very well and leads his team by example. Players like Faf De Klerk and Cheslin Kolbe (not disrespecting their talent) couldnt make the highlight plays they do without the work he gets through.

Him and the rest of the forward pack which is what makes the boks so successful. The final against England shows that most demolished the England scrum and dominated rucks as well. Its that hard graft might not be pretty but the shine comes with the quick ball and gain line dominance forwards provide.

His work is mostly off the ball, flankers do the most miles on the feild and a big part of the job is to protect our ball when we go to ground and disrupt/slow down the opposition ball when they do so it's not flashy on the reel

Siya has good leadership, but he leads by example. He is very solid on defense, when he attacks he doesn't just run in like some forwards he is always looking around for the offload or pass too, but he can also truck people. He's been immense this year.

François Pienaar was the captain Of the 1995 South Africa team to the World Cup called metal. His team was credited with uniting blacks and whites in South Africa. Nelson Mandela was godfather to his children.
24 years later, Siya Kolisi became the first black captain of the South Africa team. Same result, same jersey number. World Cup gold medal in 2019.Number six. The position is called flanker. This is the second row position that does not get a lot of glory, but is responsible for getting the possession of the ball from a scrum.

South African rugby was a white only sport until Mandela was released and became President. No black South African had ever been captain of the national side until Siya. It was and is a huge moment in the countries history, he was brought up in an African township with no money and no prospects, not enough food no equipment and rugby gave him an opportunity, he became the first black South African to captain his country and the only black player to captain his country to becoming the World Champions. It was and is a massive moment for the country.

It’s not a problem to speak about the stuff, it is not to blame anyone for it because it was still the elite eating at the expense of the people, cos I believe even white people were deliberately misled and misinformed so that they could support the government of the day on the basis of race when many of them weren’t really getting the many benefits the elite enjoyed! So let’s talk about it, so as not to subject others to the same conditions in retaliation to the sins committed by others in their name!!!

Kolisi has his highlights reel moments but he is there more for his work off the ball rather than on it. The man is calm under pressure and leads by example.
I did say he is not a highlights reel package at this level but I did have 10 minutes with him on a rugby pitch in uni days at UCT where he came on for the last 10 minutes (he obviously played 1st team) because our bench was a man short and scored two tries off the back of retreating scrums winning that game for us man alone, would-be tacklers falling off him like they weren't even trying. I took note to remember his name that day.

Siya Kolisi plays as a loose forward which means when there is a tackle the role is to steal the ball "Poacher". Running like hell, generally most running meters during the game and while attacking he or a flanker has the balance of strength and speed to get over the advantage line.

Russ is too selfish and bad decision maker compared to Siya. Also while they both push teammates to get better. Russ does it more so so that he can be better like for his own gain (especially at the thunder) where as Siya gives more of a he genuinely wants what's best for the team and teammates
