  • How do Ladies and Gents,
    So I noticed there was a blow where the swirl flap rod comes out so while I replacing them I thought it would be a good idea to take off the EGR plus the throttle body and give them a good clean. It was one hell of a job with the EGR but The BEAST is running so much better. I also replaced the turbo actuator which has fix the horrible noise. Won't be long now until she is back on the road.
    Stay with me on the journey guys at the moment it is getting her ready for the road. BUT! there are so many modifications coming and in the video there is a body kit i will be getting for her so stay with me as she will be a One Of A Kind!

    This is what I needed. Literally what I planned to on my V70 with the same engine but not had the guts to start in it. Now I have a better idea of what needs doing. Not every hero wears a cape :)

      Ha ha ha that's very kind buddy 🙌. Its not to difficult really the only pain is the clamp at the back of the EGR valve that is on a metal flexible pipe. It might be easier on a 70 due to it being lower than the 90. Must admit did my back in slightly 🤣.

    eBay is your friend whne it comes to genuine used parts. One thing to note with your plans to lower the suspension is that the rear dampers are the Nivomat self-levelling ones (fitted to all UK-spec XC90s) and the springs are matched to the dampers so you'll need fit matching dampers when you fit lowering springs.

    Look at KONI adaptive springs and shocks, as the rears on your 90 are nivomat shocks.

    Love your video. Very happy with XC90’s Have got 3 include the one we got now. One D5 Brand new back in 07, and then a 04 T5, and npw again a T5 06. This video shows why I went for a petrol turbo, instead og D5 with ERG valve and all that Carbon bult up in the intake. D5 is Super preferrable when new and under warranty, but less attraktive when passing 200kkm unless you clean up the engine. If I was that confident to diamantle tha engine and clean it ad you do, it might work for me as well, but I rather pay a bit extra in fuel expenses on a T5.

      Hello buddy, thank you so much for the kind comment it's really nice to hear and I am glad you enjoyed the video.
      You are right the D5 engine is much preferred as its better for the wait of the car on fuel and torque. But to be honest it's not that difficult to do it's just time consuming. But you never know unless you try 😊. There are lots of videos on here to show how things are done so it's the best place to find and see how to do things.

      @@sparrowscarprojects-em3fe yes your right, the 2007 D5 got 400NM and 185hp, but the older (03-05) D5 had 340NM and 164hp. The T5 has 320NM and 209hp, so higher top horspower compensate a bit for less torq, but its only useful during overtaking. But you see that the T5 is about the same (only 20NM less) that the first D5, and those are a bit underpowered. It became better i 06 when the D5 185hp 400NM was launched. I guess i 2010 a even stronger D5 was launched. But anyways, We don’t use the XC90 as our main Family car anymore, so we have it as a seccondary car for pulling trailer and stuff. Therfore I installed external oil cooling radiator for the transmission. If you use your D5 for off roads and kida heavy duty driving, you should concider oilcooler for the transmission also. D5 doesn’t have it own part number for oil cooler, but use the V8 oil cooler. It fits just fine. This prevent overheating of transmission fluids, due to the original set up is only fluid to fluid exhanger between oilsump in motor and transmission, and that is not enough delta T under heavy load, or much start and stop going trought the gears like taxi driving do or high workload like hauling heavy trailers and off road driving.

      @@brembodream I will have a look into that thank you buddy. Its funny as your right the euro 3 is fine in a v70 but slow in the xc90 but the 185 euro 4 has a lot of get up and go.

    When you couldn't fire it up Ive thought you may have the answer to why my xc70 isnt starting after the same job. It looks like it has no more compression. New original rocker cover gasket on the way and lets see if i can put it back on the road. Fingers crossed.

    @sparrowscarprojects-em3fe have you got a link or recommendation for swirl flap kit?
    On a scale of 1-5, how technically difficult would you say it is to replace the swirl flaps.
    Your video has convinced me that it looks 'easy(ish)'.
    What would you say? 🤔

    • @sparrowscarprojects-em3fe
      @sparrowscarprojects-em3fe  4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah it is rather simple to do to be honest. It's just taking the injector pipes off, Removing the injectors and then the rocker cover. The intake pipes and be a bit of a pig but it will come off.
