Im going to perfectly honest, I have ordered 5 fragrances blind and loved all of them. Afnan 9pm was the first one since I didn't know a lot of fragrances at that time all I heard that it was sweet. When I got it first I was super surprised didnt thought it was like that. At the drydown it literally reminded me of like a gummy candy roll. Girls liked it. After I got a little into fragrances what I would do to make my blind buys safe, I would go up fragrantica look at the scent notes of like hyped fragrances, go into a Douglas and smell them. Then I would know what amber,woody, etc smelled like. Also what I would look at is what fragrance people compare my blind buys to. If there was a famous fragrance in there I would just smell it at the Douglas so I know what I can expect. These are the tips I would like to give to make blind buys safer.Maybe its just me I honestly like most of the fragrances I smell😂

In lots of parts of the world, like where I am, you don't have the facilities to test fragrances. At best maybe there is a department store or chemist with testers, but it will only stock designer brands or ubiquitous cheapies. If you want a Middle Eastern brand, clone or a niche scent there is no option, good luck. You can only go on reviews. Regarding buying samples, most of the online stores with good prices and/or samples are catered to, or located in, the US. Postage is a massive killer for those outside of the US. If you do manage to find a sample you want, after factoring in postage, it ends up being nearly as expensive as if you'd just purchased the full bottle. I say this because normally, if you do encounter a free international postage option, to qualify you have to spend a couple of hundred dollars. So i load up on a couple of full bottles of stuff that have received good feedback in the community. Its the only thing that makes sense, all things conaidered. And decants off Facebook you never know whether its fake or not. Its pointless. At least with online you can use sites that have a proven record. Hence, this is why blind buying is an unfortunate reality for those outside the US. I guarantee most people doing it are in the same situation I am.

The only one that I ended up liking is Latttafa Bade Honour & Glory. I love that frag. I know it's hyped, but sure for a good reason. This frag is not gonna offend anyone and the performance is just wild..awesome. I get compliments in the evening too, so I don't know what the off-putting dry down fuss is all about cuz I love it.
My friend, i blind bought Honor and glory, i must say I am most complimented when I am near or at an asian cuisine, i guess the piña sweetness is the balance to their spicy or sweet n sour dishes 😂 or the hard candy at the register with the incense cat sticks 😂

This would greatly help them learn the basics of how to start wearing their fragrances, choosing the right ones and also avoiding mistakes early in their journey.

I actually blind bought this and didn’t like it at all, especially the opening. Its very synthetic, dry down is very heavy with vanilla which is still bearable. I got this because of how school of scent hyped it. Its not bad, but i was heavily disappointed cos he hyped it so much.
Websites should def have a sample option if not 2ml do 5 or 10. You can always give them away to family members or friends to try out if you don't like them. People need to research, but there are definitely companies that specialize in sample sales.
The biggest problem with these cheapies is that they are rarely in shops. So sometimes its impossible to sample them, I actually wanted to sample online that fragrance but noone sells them sooo yeah I think my only option is to blind buy it sadly But I completely agree, blind buying is super super stupid. I have bought over 20 samples from the internet and have 0 fragrances lol

However, I would advise people new to the fragrance game to avoid blind buying. Allow your nose to mature, get accustomed to various different fragrances and what the notes have to offer... That way, you can make are more "informed" blind buy. I NEVER fall for the hype I ALWAY do my research and due diligence So while ALL of my Middle-Eastern fragrances are blind buys, I am never disappointed. Additionally, some fragrances grow on you. I hated Black Orchid when every one was hyping it to the heavens. Exactly 9 months later I sampled it again and it just clicked, and I purchased it immediately. It's one of my favourites to this day. So yeah, some fragrances need some time to do it's magic

Lattafas desperataly need to macerate AT LEAST for a month, after that long-ass time they'll become MUCH better. I got Sheikh Al Shuyukh, it became OK only after there was 10 ml left, now i have Qaed Al Fursan, which smells just horrible.
I almost blindbougjt a dupe of Burberry Her until I smelled it in a store and not only did it smell like gross artificial licorice and last for less than 10 minutes, it gave me a bad skin reaction :(
I’ve been collecting for about two years bought a lot of blind buys and bought a bunch of travel sizes you never know till you get them but a full bottle almost as cheap as travel sizes so it’s kinda a decision.. I still don’t know which ones my favorite but have a few I wear all the time

give it time, sometimes Middle eastern fragrances takes 6months-year before they fully mature
