One of the finest RUclips videos I've seen on life in Philippines, and I've seen too many to count. Great respect for Mae, and for Paul who sees in her what matters.
Mae's story is SO similar to my wife's; her life as a child and as a teenager was so difficult, her family so poor -- yet her motivation to get up and go to work was helping her family - nothing for herself. The only thing she did for herself was attend high school -- something her 7 siblings never did, and her parents did nothing to encourage her, they wanted her to stick close to the barrio. She slaved and studied until she graduated, and then went off to find better work. One of the reasons I married this girl was her courage and resiliency in the absolute worst of circumstances -- and hers and Mae's is a typical story in the Philippines, especially for the women. I look at Mae and I want to break down, because she reminds me so much of my dear departed Mindy, and I miss her and her strength every single day. You're a lucky man, Paul; a lucky man.
My wife's father died when she was 2 they had 7 children at the time of his death She also quit school at 3rd grade to be house keeper for relatives in cebu, went to school at night People here have no clue what these girls have gone through! You were blessed my friend and I'm sorry for your loss!!

I am Aussie and my parents were not at all well off. Dad was the eldest son and had im my late grandfather's German reasoning, had to work the farm. He was not educated beyond Grade 2 and spent his life working with horses and scrub (bush) clearing. The farm failed in after years of bad drought in 1936 and they walked off. He spent the majority of his life breaking horses and in stables. We were looked down upon by the rest of the family, who had the benefit of being educated. My dad was tough and hard working and he taught me the value of that. He had manners and compassion for others, and in particular, those whom were less fortunate than us. We were poor, but that is not a crime, unless you happened to be some of my opinionated relatives looking down on us. Mae, be proud in standing on your own feet and surviving. You retained your dignity.

This is the best! Firstly, much respect to Mae for what an amazing person of hard work and integrity. She deserves everything she has. And Paul, you have showed a very wise model for dating. Needs a solo vid. You took it slow and smart and got the best partner any man could wish for. Teach that!
This really struck me. We complain a lot for little things especially here in the US, people are just such a complainer. Mae is an example of how tough life can be for some people here in the Philippines. Im amazed that she was able to learn to speak and understand English despite finishing only grade 3 elementary. She’s smart and motivated but unfortunately not given a opportunity to finish to college. I can relate to this as I came from a very poor family but was lucky to get that opportunity to finish college and landed a good job here in the US. Hats off Mae.
She is a keeper, without question! Pride in who she is and what has kept her going and makes her shine above so many others. Proud people do not ask for help very easily!
Wow, Paul you won the lottery with Mae. Dream come true. A woman like that will appreciate everything that comes her way the rest of her life. Great couple.
So much respect to you Ms Mae you're such a lovely woman I admire you and I'm inspired as well because we both came from the same boat I can relate to how to live in the province.
Mae is so precious! She had a hard life and preserved! She deserves the life she has now , she is not only beautiful but an awesome woman! ...God bless y'all...🙏❤
Beautiful story. never be ashamed of where you came from, it is the building blocks that makes you such a beautiful and wonderful lady, blessings to you
Mae is so simple and you can tell she's genuinely proud of her humble family and beginnings. Paul could teach her to speak better English because you can see she's inquisitive and could learn more but because of her family's simple life, she didn't get the chance to go to school, to further her learning and have a good education. I'm also a Filipino from Manila and got a good education, a college degree and a professional and now living in the U.S. If ever I go back, I'd like to give back and help some co-patriots (or kababayan) to learn English which is not really difficult for most Filipinos because they're usually capable and efficient in learning another language. Thanks Paul for finding Mae and wish you both nothing but happiness and all the best.
What a beautiful story and she's very special indeed. I think most of us from the States have no clue how hard life is and how one family member is supporting so many and gives so much from their heart. I think this speak volumes for many if not most of the the Filipino people. She's blessing for you Paul and I think you are for her as well.
Yeah, you got a good one. I did too. I would say we are lucky but it's not all luck. Knowing where to go is a big part of it. There's plenty more where these came from. I credit this channel for part of my decision to pursue a Filipina. I would encourage others to do the same. When Mae smiles it makes me smile.
Great story. I've been watching you both since the beginning. Mae's transformation has just been incredible. She continues to grow in so many different ways. You are a lucky guy Paul.
You and Baby Mae are my favorite couple on RUclips! Together, you represent the best example of how to live a good life, full of kindness, responsibility, warmth and gratitude. I love you both!

wow! super impressed with mae, and how she survived all that.. much respect to her! you both are very lucky to have each other. hope to bump into both of you when we go back home to dumaguete.
I think that I speak for a lot of westerners when I find there's nothing in Mae's background to be ashamed of, I have nothing but admiration and respect for her hard work, her resolve and perseverance, her selflessness in helping family members, all while maintaining a cheerful outlook in life and pride in her upbringing and family. Her story is one that touches us and truthfully many of us can learn lessons from her, how to hold our heads up, remain good spirited and just deal with the challenges that life hands to us and, lastly, mirror check ourselves on how we are doing in maintaining good morals. Thank you guys!
You are an amazing person Mae I was inspired by your life story you struggled in your life and always put your family first I hope that you and paul have a long and happy life together
God bless you Mae. I suspected as much, but was great hearing your success story. It's not easy sharing our past pains and difficulties but it's often exactly what other need to hear to keep going. Helps us see the light at the end of a tunnel.
Life has got a way of finding itself! Like Baby Mae I was born in the mountain, the eldest of 8 children, work in the fields, help my parents plant rice and vegetables for our own food. At aged 8, my mother wants me to stop school to take care of my siblings for her to work in the fields. But I like school so I enrolled myself without her permission, and did that year after year till completing Primary. Again my mother again wants me to defer Hi-school, so I worked as a domestic helper of an aunt for high school support, living with her, 2 babies, and her older parents. All the time I wanted an education and to be a teacher so that I can help my parents support my siblings for a better life. We Filipinos have always believed in this, helping our parents and our siblings, I did that and I am now a retired Registered Nurse here in 'Australia with my own family. worked hard, and serve all thru the mission by God's grace. Baby Mae be proud of who you are! As Paul says, we did not choose our birth but we can choose what to do with our life. be blessed and stay thankful and trustful to God and all. Blessed both, you are meant for each other for better lives in this world and beyond.
It's great to that you found a woman with great family values, is a hard worker and never used you as an ATM. You are a lucky man ! A lot of foreigners there are sucked dry for what they have, but that even happens here in the U.S.

Wrutb. Mae put two of her siblings through college. ☺️
Mae's life gives you a much different perspective for the average American. God bless and keep the both of you!
Wow, thank you
She is a keeper, without question!
She deserves the life she has now , she is not only beautiful but an awesome woman! ...God bless y'all...🙏❤
Beautiful story. never be ashamed of where you came from, it is the building blocks that makes you such a beautiful and wonderful lady, blessings to you
Mae is an awesome person. We need more people in this world with her good heart and good character.
There all over the world far in between .
What a lovely person Mae is. She's built herself on solid ethics and is determined to raise herself up. She has my total respect
I have infinitely more respect for Baby Mae than most of the Western women I`ve had the misfortune of knowing.
Baby Mae is a Saint ! What a Story . Such a Sweet Beautiful Young Girl ! Bless You Baby Mae . What a Wonderful Interview , Thanks Paul and Mae
I'm so glad I stayed and watched this entire video. It forced a person to reflect on their gripes of their life.
What a great story about the rise of Baby Mae. Paul, you are truly blessed. May you both and have a long and happy and healthy life together.
Wow! Pulled out of school in the third grade.. Can't even imagine.. Baby Mae has accomplish alot on her own! Kudos sweetie 💚

Do you not think calling someone baby when she is a grown woman a bit weird

You and Baby Mae are my favorite couple on RUclips! Together, you represent the best example of how to live a good life, full of kindness, responsibility, warmth and gratitude. I love you both!

Mae you should be extremely proud of everything you have accomplished you seem to be a remarkable person. Paul you are a very lucky man to have someone so special in your life, never take that for granted.
wow! super impressed with mae, and how she survived all that.. much respect to her! you both are very lucky to have each other. hope to bump into both of you when we go back home to dumaguete.
Way to go Mae You are a wonderful woman and should be very proud of yourself.
Hello, Paul my heartfelt congratulations for this wonderful woman.
God bless you Mae. I suspected as much, but was great hearing your success story. It's not easy sharing our past pains and difficulties but it's often exactly what other need to hear to keep going. Helps us see the light at the end of a tunnel.
Wow Mae is special. Very smart hard working and sweet lady. We all need more Mae"s in this world. Great video.
And I thought I had a rough life! I feel only the greatest of love for the both of you!
It's great to that you found a woman with great family values, is a hard worker and never used you as an ATM. You are a lucky man ! A lot of foreigners there are sucked dry for what they have, but that even happens here in the U.S.
Mae’s story is amazing, she is an incredible person. You both deserve the happiness and love that you share together - best to you both, and thank you for sharing!
Paul, you have been truly blessed with a beautiful woman. God Bless Baby Mae
I love your accent Mae!! Great you found each other... And trust each other.
😊 thank you
I really love Ms. Mae. She deserves the best life possible after everything she's been through and is going through. You go, woman!
You found a gem there Paul! Practical woman and down to earth.
