It was a good Ironman attempt but unfortunately even the most air-tight strategy cannot play around dying in the cutscene like a dumbass

You can't even get past the prologue because Shez technically died 8 times before the game even started and then dies again in the Prologue

Every death cutscene in the game suffers from this problem, but Marnie's is definitely the worst one. No reaction from anyone whatsoever, no one wanted to help.

Sombron just wanted to show to Veyle that you don’t need to use a draconic time crystal to reroll the RNG in order to get a lucky 1% crit.

She tried to dual guard but even with Lucina, the block chance is only 90% so of course she immediately dies
Dual guard always kills the user in cutscenes, in Fates 2 characters die because of that.
The added yell soundbyte to Mauvier's anguished scream killed me hahaha
One would have thought Alear learnt from Lumera that dual guards don't work unless you're Lucina.
I like the performance of Marni's VA in this game. It's a shame that she doesn't die for the noble and worthy cause of human wave tactics
Thankfully we have DLC to solve that senseless waste of human life the only way we know how: more senseless waste of human life.

Alear forgot to equip the Lucina ring and Engage. Her HP must have been too low to proc Hold Out as well.
Interesting way to end Engage, but I guess the good guys can’t always win. Looking forward to Engage 2!

Now that we know that the dlc will add "good" versions of the Hounds as recruitables, it would be pretty funny to bring them to maps where they die. Like Zephia just killed Marnie and then she sees Blue Marnie running up to attack her
Madeline’s post battle dialogue for these chapters has her mentioning a sharp pain in her sternum, despite having never been stabbed there.

It was a really impressive strategy that Zephia used to freeze Mauvier as she was clearly about to stab Marni, good thing his feet were glued to the floor or else he would’ve stopped her

I can’t wait for the next chapter, where we don’t get any tragic backstories and then die, or the next couple chapters where we do get more tragic backstories but then others die

I love how Alear just straight up dies here and unlike in Fates they have to work up hard to earn their revival.
@@ivanbluecool Corrin died and revived in the same cutscene, and the legendary weapon was destroyed with his death, to live again he had to destroy nothing, all what happened is Corrin dies, talk to his dead relatives, and is revived. he doesn't even return as a zombie for one chapter, he straight up revives in the same cutscene with a new reborn Yato in its final form.
Robin was revived after the final battle because..... friendship, i guess, he was supposed to die, as destroying Grima was supposed to destroy himself too.
at least Alear had to appeal to a benefactor twice to return to life. as cheesy her revival was, at least SOMEONE was responsible for it, instead of being just THE POWER OF FAMILY/FRIENDSHIP.
Still corny as hell.

It’s still so funny to me griss is so easily trivialized by the silence staff when this game has a skill to make them immune to silence. It’s not like they’re scared of attaching the wrong skills to the wrong classes of units, like hell he’s immune to being entrapped but not silenced
Griss probably find the sensation of having his voice stolen enjoyable so he lets you silence him.
There is an in universe reason for this
He enjoys letting you smack him around without retaliation
tbf it's an emblem sync skill and they don't ever have the emblem sync skills on units without the emblems

Its funny how Alear dies 3 times in the main plot and is set to die again in the DLC wave 4 prior the record for plot resurrection was 2 held by corrin that dies in conquest and birthright endgame
What about robin? Robin dies in awakening with grima so that's two. Future past and future past dlc a grand total of 5 to 6 times dying to both grima and lucina constantly if we count the body total.
@@ivanbluecool I don't count grima the same as robin unlike fire emblem hero's and they need to resurrect as a requirement meaning they die and than get back up to fight
@@blankblank6214 robin was revived same way as altear. Just not in control but still there If you read future past as Robin's soul was still around after being consumed.
3? I know he was killed by Sombron and killed by Sombron again. Unless you are including the the Game Over in the final chapter (which isn't the main plot), that would only be twice.

Excelblem is like, "yes, villains, I am planning to have only the lord survive at the end of the game but I won't let you ruin this for me. No one kills these units but myself"
And thus he focused on using strategies to give no mercy to those who were never on his side to begin with, by silencing Griss with the Silence staff, rushing down Zephia, and then unleashing an AoE attack on enemies near Veyle and then having all of his "pawns" gang up and burst down Veyle to knock off the mind control stuff.
Perfect timing after seeing the next dlc wave. Please engage add all the dlc cast as playable units for the main game. I would enjoy engage much more after that.
I'm just imagining a future version of the game that's 100% better because players just replaced (almost) every vanilla unit with DLC units and their better-written personalities.

Most everyone else can go away next playthrough.
Also wish the summon units could be playable directly instead of through vernonica

I just think her armour and shield look sick, and her whole 'little girl being a general' schtick made me spend half the game trying to build Framme to be the same thing.
I didn’t even like Marni then, so the fact that the game now expects me to like her because ‘muh tragic backstory’ and forget about all the awful things she did for the rest of the game is just infuriating lol.
I imagine a toddler in a suit of armor was probably gonna have a tragic backstory in some way, but so much more could have been done to justify her sudden heel face turn then "man, Veyle's had it rough huh :///" when she had completely dismissed Veyle as "the boring one" like 3 chapters prior

I'm at the point where I find characters with tragic backstories less interesting than ones who are just normal guys.

I love Garon for example because he's just batshit evil and unhinged he's also extremely funny alongside Iago and Hans, and to show an example of an actually good character Sephiroth, Frieza, Palpatine, Cell, Kefka and there goes, all of these characters are better than most of these villains with a sad backstory to appeal for melodrama and "people can't be born evil because society corrupts them"
@@renren47618 It's not that villains who have a sad backstory is bad, it's that all too often it's done purely for emotional manipulation. Marni's sudden tragic backstory does nothing to add to the story, it's done purely to be an emotional gut punch and to make Sombrom and Zephia seem even more evil. It's the same reason thing as Alear's mom (can't even remember her name). The character is given likable traits then immediately killed off to try and invest the player, instead of idk, fleshing out the characters, like, y'know, a good story does. It's like Engage wants it both ways. It wants to be a simple fun story of a good guy killing a bad guy (and basically is just this for the entire early and mid game), while also trying to be a tragedy about people pushed into unfortunate situations (the late game's story), and the clash between these two goals is so bad that the entire end game story just ends up being frustrating in how poor the writing is.
@@lancestriker0111 Part of me thinks Marni made her backstory up to try and regain attention, and only found real empathy once she saw Veyle in the helmet.

Dang, that’s the second time the game shoe-horned in a completely avoidable and stupid death by having one character jump in front of another who doesn’t want to move. Like mother, like not-daughter.
And, like, the fifth if you just count people standing still as count murder charges up his death beam for 4 hours.
Seriously, I wish people stopped trying to dual guard, when will they understand this isn’t fates.
