Plus Size Rapper Dank Demoss Lyft Lawsuit

- Plus Size Rapper Dank Demoss is filing a lawsuit against Lyft for discrimination after being denied a ride from Lyft driver. The driver claimed she was too heavy and would damage his car. Dank Demoss isn't wrong for pursing legal action and just because it isn't a law in place to protect her and others doesn't mean it isn't right.

You’ve GOT to be kidding me, Justin! I’m fat but c’mon… that driver did nothing wrong. I clicked on this video cuz I saw your face expression in the thumbnail & thought you had common sense but boy was I wrong! If you are that size, then at a minimum, you should be ordering an XL but instead she went with the cheap option. This woman isn’t just big, she’s so big that she could’ve actually damaged bro’s axles & wheels, even if his car had no mechanical issues. Saying 3 average sized people wouldn’t be a problem so why is it a problem for her is SILLY nonsense because the weight distribution is completely different & more balanced. I also advise anyone of this size to buy 2 seats on a plane. It’s not discrimination, it’s called being fair & having common sense. I don’t think she should be ridiculed or bullied but that don’t make her right! We need to stop defending people just cuz they’re black. She’s wrong, period. If she was a 600 lb white woman who sued this would STILL be a big story.
😂😂Yes. You are so right. No common sense.
Thank you for this. Now I’m clicking off. That poor driver. He never said anything about her weight. Nor did he mistreat her.
You just realizing he only complains chile. Anything that represents how he feels about himself he has to make it a “phobia” or “ism” 🙄
@@Niyahjordan-i9r That part! 💯
lol Justin is very funny in his takes but he makes everything about himself. Everything is “as a dark skin” “as a big person” “as a member of the LQBTQ COMMUNITY” it’s always about him. Even if it isn’t that serious like this case here.
I wish RUclips could show the dislike button. As a somewhat muscular overweight black guy, this ain’t it. Also as a former rideshare driver, it’s hard for Lyft/ uber to reimburse you for damage and sometimes they stiff you when someone urinates/ or takes a dump in your car or even vomits. Comparing this to racism is REACHING!!!
The video has been ratio’d with a lot of dislikes. I have an extension that shows it. The video currently has 800 dislikes and 850 likes and it’s only gonna get worse from there. The dislike bar is already at the halfway point.
@@StefunnyStrangeDefinitely a lot more. I just added my dislike. Lol.

Nahhhhhh we are not bout to make this about fatphobia she was TOO BIG periodttttt
We have to stop dealing in people’s delusions. She knew she would go viral and unfortunately the little reputation she had as a rapper is now ruined smh. Love your commentary but let’s hold folks accountable
I disagree I find out she's talented and she's gonna get paid
Agreed … the first few seconds I knew what his thoughts were gone be so we can agree to disagree on this one
Everything isn’t anti-fatness or fat-phobia. When is it her responsibility to ensure she orders a rideshare class that can accommodate her weight? The airlines don’t allow this, you must buy two seats. No one else should be inconvenienced or exposed to additional expenses because of this when the solution for her is simple: order an suv everytime.
The other thing here is rideshare drivers are independent contractors and it’s well within their right to cancel a ride. You pull up on someone and they are sketchy looking, smell bad or even in this case, too large, you can cancel it and keep it pushing.
@@JayTWrites this is what happens when ppl don’t teach their kids to take accountability and that something’s just aren’t for you or not everything in life is gonna accommodate you.
You should be giving the driver the same amount of empathy as dank. Yes, she deserves no vitriol, but neither does the driver. He's just another one of us poors trying to make a buck out here to survive. But he got fired already, and shes setup to profit off of it.
That part.
I was truly disappointed by his commentary.
I feel he has a blind spot here
@TCt83067695 he will always defend the black person lol are yall new here?
@@TCt83067695I like Justin, but I knew he was gon make excuses for Dank and push the same narrative that he always does when it comes to Plus sized people smh😬
Im not going to feel bad for workers who discriminate against people just because that worker is poor.
I have not seen anybody being mean to the driver for real.
I’m disabled. I use a standing walker. I know I have to use an Lyft or Uber XL in order to fit my walker in the vehicle. If I get a car that doesn’t fit my walker, should I sue the company for the driver saying that I can’t get in because my walker would damage their car? No! It’s my situation to deal with and accommodate accordingly. I’m not with the lawsuit at all. And that poor man was fired! I feel for him. She’s making a cash grab plain and simple.
You actually should and can 😭
@@Highonmalak I don’t believe in others paying for my mistakes. I know that I have to make accommodations for myself and my equipment. Just like she knows she can’t fit into small cars safely. She has to make accommodations for herself just like everyone else.
@@Kris_K98 I only use services like that when I’m out of town traveling. I have an SUV and because of my rims, tires and low profile I wouldn’t let her get in my vehicle either. One pothole and I have to come up with $1K+ to fix my car.

A cash grab that legal in her area. Simply put, pro-fatness or anti-fatness, know the laws in your area, especially as an independent contractor.
Even if Lyft paid for repairs, he would still be out of work while repairs took place.

I can’t believe he is defending this. My mind is blown. I clicked on the video thinking he had a common sense take but NOPE. I was very wrong about that.
Definitely but I knew he would defend her though he can’t see past his own biases of being bigger in statue as well! There was no empathy for the driver either because had she torn up his car he’s still responsible for fixing it
I wish he would give realistic opinions instead of personalizing everything. If someone struggles with the same issues as him they can do no wrong. Any person can be in the wrong.
@@StefunnyStrangeI can believe it actually.
@@diamesha3337I totally agree.
Not going to lie, she wouldn’t have gotten in my car either. I was baffled that she refused to understand that she is WEIGHTY! Some of us can’t afford for something to happen to our cars, especially those of us who rely on it to pay bills. She, nor Lyft would have helped that man fix his car if something were to go wrong. I’m going to say, she needs to understand that her weight absolutely will make it so some things require different accommodations.
Then don’t be a Lyft or Uber driver. It’s inherent that as a driver you will encounter passengers with different sizes, ethnicities, and abilities. If you’re not comfortable with that risk then do Uber eats or DoorDash.
@@Silly_u1908naw, I don’t allow passengers to take advantage of me. That entitlement attitude will get you dropped off at the next gas station where you will wait for your next ride. Drivers have rights too.
@projectsoar1 exactly people think they can be intoxicated, smelly, or morbidly obese to the point they can cause damage to things, they have the right to get in your vehicle. Everything isn’t an attack on a person.
@@Silly_u1908See this comment is filled with entitlement. This is also what's wrong with the world. Everybody feels like they have rights over others property and you DONT! Lyft is a private contracting business that allows regular folks around the world to have access to their company. Meaning they give the drivers contracts and regulations asw as customers. If you read the fine print they ask you to sign before signing up for Lyft. They tell you any driver has the right to refuse service for any reasons EXCEPT to the classes that are protected by the constitution. Which includes, race, religion, sexual orientation and gender.
She can barely fit in a suburban, this soap box is so unnecessary
Dragging her is unnecessary.

Lyft does not cover damage to that man's car! They only clean up throw up or cleaning carpet
Thank you
And that’s the problem, they should be responsible. Look into how much of the earning share that Lyft takes compared to the drivers.
That’s why he said they need to cover more expenses than just cleaning the carpet
Then that’s a problem with Lyft. Lyft needs to pay its drivers for car maintenance.

Actually, he did get in Monique’s butt about the situation with her son.
AS A BIG GIRL MYSELF, I empathize with Dank. HOWEVER, she has to be mindful of her size! At one point, I was not built to fit in all spaces 😂 I remember going to the amusement park last year and I couldn’t fit in the rollercoaster seat! Was I embarrassed? Yes. Did I think about suing Kings Dominion because I was embarrassed? No. That’s not their problem - it’s mine! I locked in and lost weight. Not saying she HAS to lose weight, but just understand that every space will not accommodate you, especially when there is a risk of safety.
A rollercoaster that you got on and tried to fit in versus a car that she wasn’t even allowed in. How do we know she actually couldn’t fit?
@@longtimeviewersometimescom4358 To be fair, some rides will not allow you to "try" and fit first when it's obvious that the safety restraint will not accommodate your size. Examples: rides with an upper-body harness and confined seating space at Disney.

Did he even let her try?
When did he let her get into the car to even try to put the seatbelt on ? He denied her access before that could even happen

Well her state feels differently. The state of Michigan created these laws for a reason. Your ability to control an aspect of your identity doesn’t and shouldn’t affect your ability to have equal access to a service or otherwise. If she can sit comfortably in a chair and it can support her weight then his car could too. Let’s not be obtuse.
I’m a bit tired of weight being compared to race. The two aren’t the same and i feel like it’s a bit dangerous to compare the two. I also feel as thought it’s dangerous to word conversations around black individuals being inherently bigger because that can be considered a stereotype

The two aren’t the same. But, fat people still get discriminated against. They don’t have dogs chasing after them and they don’t get hosed down. However, when it’s pointed out that there is discrimination, for whatever reason, people can’t wrap their head around that. So, you have to use something that they can understand, like race. Just like black people didn’t have access and weren’t treated like others, fat people don’t have access and don’t get treated like others. That’s it. You could argue that fat people choose to be fat. While that may be true for some, it’s not true for everyone. It costs nothing to treat someone with humanity.

Boy the gymnastics used by this dude is ridiculous. So shes the victim. Man stop. First off if she would have damaged his car because she was too big, lyft wouldn't have fixed his car. Thats the 1st thing among many things that you listed that are not factual. Secondly being fat and being black are not the same. Thirdly she did hurt this man by putting his face and name out there to the public. She is no victim in this story. Shes the villian
I gave up with the Will Smith video lol
Man just said a whole lot a nothing when there was no racism or fat phobia. And I’m black lmao
Can we stop acting like everyone is a damn victim. She's a grown woman and chose to be big. I bet it's her whole personia. I'm a big woman. I know what I can't get into and what I can. Until I loose the weight, I know what to do to make myself comfortable. She knows how big she is. How come she didn't get a bigger car? She chose that car because she didn't want to pay. Let's be real here a lot of big people are big by choice. If you have yet to change yourself, sadly you have to pay for it. It's the same as buying clothes, shoes, etc.
Are you serious? Who wants to be big "by choice"?? I have never met anyone fat person who said that they chose to be big! Who in God's name wants to be fat?!!? Please!!
@@rucianapollard4057 it is a choice though….theres the minuscule percentage who are obese/overweight due to health issues NOT caused by their over indulgence. Just as being frightfully skinny is an eating disorder so is obesity. It’s a lack of control/discipline/coping mechanism

I'm trying understand your point but only 20% i get. You like many others need to stop connecting your personal insecurities and subjective experiences to force a point that won't stick. Yes people were exaggerating and being mocking to her full size but she needs to be honest that she too would have been uncomfortable if she got in to go. If this is the guy's personal car that everyone is teasing it not working well then it'd be the 2 of them trying to hitchhike
Excellent comment. We need to take our personal experiences out of it sometimes or try our best to at least be objective
She couldn't get in my car.....ain't no way
This is a reach … Justin we tired of the anti fatness =anti blackness rhetoric this time it does not stick there’s no way a 450 lbs person should be riding a car that size with bad shocks 🙄
he’s been dropping the ball for the past few years. I really think he’s miserable and is projecting…like every single video is about “anti fatness” or “anti blackness” like DAMN BRO.. I miss his old videos :/
If they have to pay extra on a plane then the same rules apply in a ride share vehicle.
Excellent point.
Period!
Justin, dude, you must be in denial. Big Dank should have selected a LYFT XL for her own comfort. I am going to assume she has been a plus size her entire life. I dont believe she is in this much denial about her weight.
You’re slow. Who said anything about denial. There are laws in place, he broke them. Why’s about “she has a case” do you not understand 😂😅. The driver could have called Lyft support and they would have gotten her a different car, showing people respect seems a foreign concept to you
@onyxg583 First, being a dispatcher is not the driver responsibility. She was the one with the issue, so it is her responsibility to accommodate and pay for her needs. LYFT is not a weight-watchers well-fare program!
I'm all for calling out Fatphobia and people being Rude and Disrespectful but this Lyft Driver did absolutely nothing wrong. This entire thing is a Reach and this woman clearly did this just to bring more attention for her career rather than the actual situation. There are also videos of her getting out of cars that were large enough to fit her in them and the Lyft she is going off on isn't. You sir could have easily fit in that man's car because you're nowhere near as Obese as that woman was. Come on now, She literally got that man fired for no reason when he never said anything disrespectful to her and if her weight would have done something to his car, Lyft or her wasn't gonna cover his damages. We can't make every situation about something or someone being Anti-Fat or Anti-Black woman cause this was FAR from that...
King of Reads, and my best Boosie voice “Come On Dog” . She has no right, trying to sue anybody because she couldn’t fit into a car. If it was my car she wouldn’t of gotten in and I would be suing Lyft for trying to fire me for not picking her up. She would’ve caused damage to that car and nobody would’ve been responsible for it. She has no right to sue anybody.
At the end of the day, let's stop with using "black" as part of the situation. This is about weight .. she should've said up front her size so company can send appropriate size vehicle,, not discrimination ..
I disagree with you.
As a fat woman, i order an uber or lyft comfort car, but those rides can be pricey. However, as an Uber and lyft driver, i make all of my passengers comfortable. I pull the front passenger seat up so my passenger can have room in the back and i don't have a problem when they wiggle and shake to get out. My car is still in great condition because that's how i do. BOOP
Justin, I'm with you when you're right but Dank was wrong. I can't believe you made this about fat phobia. 🤦🏿♀️
She needed to call Uber XL- it’s unfair to put the pressure on the driver to accept her in a vehicle that can’t hold that amount of weight. This isn’t a company car- it’s their own personal vehicle.
How hard is it to understand that the driver didn’t follow protocol 😂 if he called driver support they would have gotten her another ride. Showing people respect seems to be lost on you
Before I even clicked on the video, I already knew what direction you were going to go. At what point do you hold people accountable? Her being overweight does not give her a victim right unless she has a pre-existing condition what she probably doesn’t. Why is it anyone else’s fault that they want to save their car? This is a 9 to 5 working man? When and where do you hold people accountable for their decisions you play a dangerous game I love your commentary at times, but I’ve noticed you like to play the victim. You pander to women. Life is about accountability. The worst thing we need is an enabler.
i love you justin but i feel like this video is a bit of a reach. i think two things can be true at once. the car was absolutely not suitable to hold that much weight concentrated in one spot, however a lot of the discourse has divulged into blatant fatphobia. these points don’t negate each other and demoss doesn’t need to be viewed as infallible just because she exists in a bigger body.
weight limits are there for safety & performance reasons and the driver tried to offer solutions. it’s just unfortunate that a slightly misjudged situation has emboldened people to be fatphobic
whatever the objective truth of the situation is, this comment seems to be the closest to it.
You know you wrong if you have to tell us to be "respectful in the comments, I won" at the beginning, 🤣
Mind you he claims he doesn’t read the comments. “I say what I have to say and then i’m done with it“ 🤨… sure, Jan.
Since we are giving scenarios. Let’s say he allowed her in his car. She most likely would not be able to secure the seatbelt. Then let’s say they got in an accident, and because she was not buckled in her body flung forward killing the driver. Would we still have a conversation about being black and overweight? She is not just fat, she is super morbidly obese. He did not discriminate against her, he gave her an option that she should’ve chosen in the first place. Bringing up her race has nothing to do with safety.
I didn’t even have to watch the video. I already knew what time it was😂
I am a very tall black woman with a 34.5 inch inseam and very long arms. Most clothing brand are not long enough for me and I sometimes have to buy men’s coats and tops because of the length of my arms.
With this logic, should I sue every clothing company for not accommodating my height? Should I label them as “heightphobic”? Only asking because being overweight was compared to being black.
Please stop conflating discrimination with using common sense. The reason she's not getting support is because she's wrong. I'm not going to ruin my car to protect someone's feelings. Being ok with your obesity is your choice, but you don't get to destroy someone else's property because of it. Uber XL is not drastically higher than regular Uber. Being overweight doesn't mean you can't be wrong about anything. That man was very respectful while explaining. Now if he was calling her names that would have been an issue
Of course. You were going to call it fat phobic.... Lose weight. It's not good to be obese/over weight. So stop trying to make it seem normal. The lift driver did nothing wrong. It should be a reality for both Dank, You, and any other big person to get y'all's life together. I Said This As respectfully as I could.

Justin I have a question. When is big too big for you? What if she was 600 pounds, you still letting her in? I really wanna know what’s your limit? What do you feel other peoples limits should be?
We need to bring back shame and accountability.
She doing this for attention and he needs to counter sue her and Lyft.
To compare being discriminated against because of the color of one skin vs weight is absurd! We can’t change the color of our skin, but we can lose the weight.
The problem with "shame and accountability" is that it seems to mainly just be preserved for the most marginalized ppl. Not to mention yall really only use it in a degrading way for ppl yall just don't like.
Sorry but this is not the right take.
Not everyone is a victim n I'm gonna tell you right now she was too damn big to not order that xl. So that driver was not wrong and I've seen her perform cause she is a rapper she can barely stand her ass up and do a single verse without sitting down. she is incredibly out of shape she gets out of breath extremely easy she is not small she Should have ordered an XL end of story. she is not a victim and that's it does she deserve to be talked about no, but call a spade a spade she was too big for that size of a car.
I was waiting for your take and for some reason i just knew you were gonna be biased and scream fatphobia😒 everything isn't fatphobia. She knew herself that she couldn't fit in that car. There's different options for Ubers for this exact reason. Dank wanted to be cheap ordering the Uber in the first place. She was around a bunch of yes men who allowed her to get into their car as big as she is. If the seatbelt couldn't fit around her waist, then there'd be a lawsuit in place if something were to happen to her. I'd rather be expensive and travel comfortably than be cheap and uncomfortable. Theme parks have a weight requirement for a reason. If you're big as a 600 lb truck and decide you still wanna ride a roller coaster that clearly doesn't fit for you, then you can't be shocked when something happens to you. Look at what happened to the little boy that got on that ride in Florida. May his soul rest in peace, but his parents knew the belt couldn't fit to keep him secure and he still rode that ride and lost his life in the process. If something was to happen to his car, whether it was in a good or bad condition, then he would've been at fault for taking her when he could've declined. It's his car and he can do what he pleases. Especially as an independent contractor. Then to say it's gaslighting when everyone knows the results of this situation is gaslighting within itself🙄 Everything isn't a phobia when it's truth. You guys just lack accountability for foolishness. Your opinion screams entitlement
Chile anyway thank god other channels, social media users on several platforms and the comments are not siding with Justin or this woman. The book Justin is recommending doesn’t even encourage this type of behavior coming from Denk. Tired of intellectual blaq readings being weaponized and misused to defend and condone poor behavior. The amount of cuts and edits in this video alone shows me his argument was incoherent and he couldn’t even film it through. The mental gymnastics is wild. Just forget the man was fired and just as how he thinks she may not have been able to afford a larger Lyft, the driver clearly cannot afford to not have his car or even have it in the shop to be repaired. What car would he drive in the meantime??? Like DUH
I noticed the weird cuts and edits too. Bro had to desperately piece something together after watching his entire unedited video and realizing it looked crazy & made little sense. So he pieced together what he could which was still awful.
STOP making this a racial thing.
She said she shouldn’t have to pay extra for an XL car. But she does, she’s XL herself. And I can empathize with feeling embarrassed, but the man wasn’t discriminating. Cars have weight limits like everything else and what if that’s the only car he has, the only way he’s able to provide for his self and/or family? Car repairs are expensive and if he’s an uber driver it’s not a stretch to think he might not be able to afford any damage she would have caused to his car. There’s a difference between discrimination and a lack of self awareness.
Even if the driver submitted a claim to Lyft for repairs and (huge assumption here) they covered most or all of the cost, this is still that driver's **personal** vehicle. You are not accounting for the inconvenience or hardship to the driver if repairs are needed. Please believe, Lyft definitely would not be compensating for that or his lost wages while his car is being repaired.
And another thing why she have her phone just out ready to record… idk this whole situation wreaks of clout chasing.
Good argument. She should have ordered the XL.
Savage 💀
And they would have sent one of the driver just follow protocol. But you’d rather someone be humiliated.
They had to alter a fur coat for her on Ms.Deb show because of her size, and she had an attitude. That's that mans personal car,my goodness
Justin I love me some you but come on now man, this was a REACH right here. First of all everything is not “fat phobic”. And secondly weight & race are 2 completely different things. One cannot be compared to the other. We cannot choose what race we’re born as. We can absolutely do something about our weight though. She knows good & well that she’s 450+ pounds, & subsequently should not have been riding in no sedan/coupe. What she should’ve done was just spent the extra few dollars & ordered a Lyft XL. She seems like a genuinely sweet girl, but the truth is just the truth. Stop trying to sugarcoat it & not hold her accountable. Hell even Lizzo had to go on & stop making excuses for unhealthy practices & get herself together.
That car did look like it was on its last wing & a prayer. It would not have made it to her destination with her in it. That’s just the truth 💯🤷🏽♀️ that man was in no way, shape or form rude, disrespectful, or malicious. We have got to stop telling people what they want to hear & just be respectfully honest. She could not fit in that car. If it was a plane they would’ve made her buy 2 seats. Same thing here. She was just too cheap to get an XL & is using this as a cash grab.

Honestly, in this economy, I'm not going to blame someone for suing insanely wealthy business. People are saying the driver shouldn't be fired, so he should sue for wrongful termination then.
Exactly!!!!!
I knew this video was coming. I saw it in the Holy Ghost. Being overweight is a PREVENTABLE issue. Bro you had a problem with Will Smith losing weight, and showing his results! I knew you were a different type of Kat when you used the term “toxic positivity”. She can do something about her situation if *she* so chooses!
I swear he gets on my nerves.
I knew he would say this because I thought of the Will Smith video as well 😂
Justin, you're usually on point but this was a miss. Your rationale is exactly the reason why Trump and Republicans are defunding everything. In this case, there is no reason why these companies need to be accommodating to someone who's abnormally big. She can certainly do something about her weight. Discrimination is a thing sure, but the driver was not wrong! Also, comparing race and weight are two different things, especially in this situation. I hate the comparison! 🤷🏽♀️

Wow, you are the 2nd person in the comments who said they are unsubscribing.
This is a liability issue… nobody had pointed out she could get hurt moving in and out small spaces. Sometimes an EMT needs to be called. This young lady needed to order an Uber XL and too bad if it’s more expensive.
Idk respectfully your take is coming off as disingenuous and gaslighty.
I’m confused. Did she not record the incident and post it HERSELF on social media? At the end of the day, that was that man’s PERSONAL car. He has every right to refuse a ride. We need to address the elephant in the room (no pun intended) that girl is HUGE. Not just chubby, not just thick, but HUGE. Typically someone that size will be uncomfortable riding in a smaller car anyway. Pointing out the obvious is not an attack..and then you are comparing being fat to being BLACK. Being BLACK is not a choice
Nope not buying into the delusion that this man was wrong she wouldn’t have gotten into my car either
And you too would by discriminating. Lyft has a protocol, and he didn’t follow it. So you’re just as dumb as him
