“Didn’t make my money in racing”
But also I used my big NASCAR checks to buy real estate and then invested the rest in stock market.
You made your money in NASCAR buddy. You just made good decisions with it and grew it. Without that NASCAR money, you wouldn’t have it to start with.
Good for you tho! So many sports guys don’t do smart things with it.

the Cup guys also get paid for personal appearances, product promotions and other stuff like in TV booth for Nationwide or Truck races. Plus they usually get a motorhome and personal vehicles to drive. It’s not all cash money but it adds up. Some teams will also pay the disability insurance. Each driver negotiates what they want every contract. Harvick has setup an agent business to represent them. The little guys? That comes out of the sponsorship and race winnings if any.

Is it still possible for a independent driver to get into nascar? It seems like all of the money is at the top, but to race at the top it costs the most money too.

Like you kenny. If you have everything paid off house ,shop, vacation home, you still have taxes insurance, medical bills. I have a nice IRA and understand stocks. But i cant go hog monkey wild and spend it. U die and hopefully your stock is still high and paying off. So you can leave your children something? You did well in cup,but risk your life every race..hell many were killed in practice and some qualifying. And i dont think you'd be where you are without kim. That lady has been the best nascar wife ive ever seen. Lover, mother, wife , advisor , therapist, business partner. Through the thick and thin she's still there helping you make decisions and still worried about an old guy dirt racing.. a then there's Rusty a whole other chapter. You're a lucky man herm. GOD BLESS YOU.

Indycar, sponsors knew it was cheaper to go there and pay alot less than to go Cup racing and pay $18mn on a driver salary, $40mn on the whole team. "Costs are to high" doesn't cone from teams, that comes from sponsors and Nascar. Cause of that we have Nascar built race car and lower salaries, instead of a Team built race car.
"We're gonna change 75yrs of culture, and we're gonna do it" well, theyre doin it

Kenny's wrong. Kyle Busch's contract for 2023 what's $16.9 million and it descends from there. Chase Elliott's base salary contract is over $10 million for 2,024. They also receive a portion of the winnings. There are other deals in place to make more money. There is one driver that made over $20 million total in 2023. Hailie Deegan's base salary in 2022 in trucks with David Gilliland was $450,000. All this information is public record.

Kyle’s deal with RCR was three years $45M so $15M a year, definitely more than $8M

Well, they also get what is called "performance bonus money" and hitting various contractual 'gates' puts more money in the bank account (tied in with sponsor cash and so on). It's like any pro-level sport - let's go MLB or NFL to keep it simple - where you're graded/weighted based on your performance and where you are at the end of that particular day. For any stick and ball sport you sit in a room and get graded on your performance within that particular week, day, whatever, which becomes favorable or not to your contractual bonus money (ex: let's take our MO football hero....Mahmomies signed a deal for $$$$$$$ but only $$$ is guaranteed the rest is paid out in performance grading...passes, wins, yadda yadda and yadda and HEY! SUPER BOWL! That's a BIG contractual payout from the owner(s) along with the NFL payout - lather, rinse, repeat for any top tier sport). The dollars become much more complex when you realize the dream and achieve those goals. But, with that - so does the life.

I’d have to imagine he got compensated for the old Stacker 2 commercials. But that was 20 years ago, so who knows if it was significant or not. Either way, he’s done well for himself and contrary to what some might say, he’s a pretty smart guy. He’s just goofy and that makes him a pretty awesome fella.

Summary of what Kenny is saying… take your money and invest it in real estate. If you wanna race, don’t invest your returns and expect to make money. Do what you can afford and what’s best for you but don’t expect to make money racing.

  • @CanuckIV

So when you say $750k to $8M and I know you are giving us a estimate. I am not sure if that is the case with all of the drivers. Perhaps some make less than $750k in the Cup Series and perhaps some make more than $8M?
My question is this: Let's say $750k is the lowest you can make a year in the Cup Series, does that include teams like Rick Ware Racing? It's hard to tell who drives that car every week because of Cody Ware's firing, but let's just say JJ Yeley was full time in the 15, does that mean he is making 3 quarters of a million dollars a year? If so that is MORE THAN enough to live a comfortable living!

  • @amazingredkitty3605
    @amazingredkitty3605 Год назад

Considering how the drivers risk their lives every time they get in a racecar it isn't enough money. When you look that other sports paying tens to hundreds of millions a year the NASCAR drivers are getting screwed.

Hmmm ya know this could an interesting business idea, your fans pay so much for a sticker on yer car. I'm sure it's be thought of before!
