Have F1 drivers always earned big money, or is this a more recent trend? Are drivers from 10, 20, 30 years ago financially well off or are most of them broke or needing to work? I think American football players often end up broke for reasons you mentioned in this video (big pay, big expenses, short careers) plus injuries + no education.
They probably earned more money 20 years ago when sport was at its peak. Global audience was estimated to be more then 300 millions viewers, compared to about 100 now. A lot of people say F1 drivers do not have a lot of downtime. With racing mostly every two weeks, a month off in the middle of the season and the off season, and just with that info I think they have quite a bit of downtime in a 24 race or so season?
No, they don't. What with sponsor & media commitments before and after races. Between races they usually fly back to the factories/headquarters to speak with designers and engineers. The mid year break is usually a month, but drivers usually only take a week or two off, then it's back into the gym, training, driving simulators. It seems like a glamorous lifestyle and probably is for the most part, but it is also extremely demanding physically and mentally, both on and off the track.
i think we can guess that they negotiate sallary once every year or a few, so you can get a low price on a driver that then goes on to perform very good, or pay a lot for a driver that goes on to perform underwhelming, either way the drivers and teams will have to speculate wether they will want that sallary locked in for 1 season or multiple
If you look a the number of pole and the number of wins Charles has the edge. Charles may have been fortunate to renew his contract after a good season and he is is probably rated the 2nd or 3rd fastest driver of the field by most pundits

Based on 5 seasons in F1, Russell has proved that he does not deserve an F1 seat, let alone a $18 million per season salary. It's an insult to all F1 fans to see that Russell gets paid as much as Alonzo when Alonzo's performance justifies his value in F1. Talk about a miscarriage of justice!!! Max Verstappen gets a bit of a wedge for wearing Oracle RedBull Racing ensignia.
SLH 44 get watches and sponsorship from Swiss IWC top end wrist watches. Obviously unknown amounts for collaboration on designing collections of streetwear for designer label Tommy Hilfiger. He co-owns Neatburger vegan restaurant chain with Leonardo Di Caprio; and I'm guessing co-owning with Serena Williams of non-alcoholic tequila 'Almave Ambar Blue Algave'; etc., etc.
*Charles, Daniel, Carlos + 2024 = 🏆🏆🏆*
For a month or year?
7:31 is that Horner's and Verstappen's lady friend? 😂
6:24 WAT YEAR IS THIS!?!?!?!😭😭
Love your work kymmy but no way Lewis is wearing a outfit for less than 6 figures, valt would have got North of 7 figures
Hope you’re joking. There wouldn’t be any profit paying him 6 figures for each outfit. These aren’t mass produced. They aren’t selling many of them.
Can't imagine Russell being paid as much as Alonso 🤔
lets exclude stroll and sargeant from the best of the best
No way Russell earns more than Perez
Well, he is British 😊
Kevin number is too high.. I think he made 1,5 when he was along side grojean
Hamilton is grossly overpaid. Lewis is on a 3 year losing streak. Who at Ferrari gave Lewis a seat.
Lewis doesn’t have a manager he has a lawyer!? That looks over his contracts and so on!? If I’m right? But weather he gets a % or a fix fee I don’t know.
Any chance you fall out of good favour with the drivers by speculating their earnings and posting it?
Charles & George overpaid. Carlos Checo Fernando & Oscar underpaid
My Dad works at an investment company that manages the portfolio of one of the highest paid F1 drivers on the grid right now.
They have been buying up a lot of real estate here in the US.
I don't mean a few homes either. I am talking over a dozen homes.
Clearly they see the housing market as a huge investment right now.
Yep. All the rich people and companies buy houses so they can inflate the prices.
Russell is being paid $6 million dollars more a season than Carlos, who has provided 150% more than value to the team than Russell would ever be capable of delivering.
With a shocking decision, like over paying Russell, all F1 fans know exactly why the Mercedes team has become a mid field team with no future. hmm
This most likely is base salary and doesn’t include bonus money based on results/points. Alonso likely earned a hefty bonus. If it is full salary Alonso is by far the best bargain on the grid.
@@seashackf1 You remind us of what Kimmi did to Lotus after agreeing to their race bonus scheme. ha-ha.
Kimmi could have retired a very rich man after that season. ha-ha
@@midas7394 yup, neither are dumb. If they aren’t getting salary they must get bonus to make up for it. There’s no planet where Alonso is less valuable than anyone but lewis or max.
If those guesstimates are true, Russell is seriously over paid. T best he should earn less than $5 million a season.
What not ask them “what did you buy this week”? Surely these guys are buying something fancy every week be it cars, houses or art. Would love to know what you buy when you make over a million euro a week!
Most of them are pretty smart; they'll be investing or saving.
Max has a draft contract written up at Mercedes for more than LH ever made
Rubbish. MV will never go to Mercedes or any other team. He has said on multiple occasions that he will not stay in F1 for years like some drivers do.
Ayy late upload
Pls don’t make one of these your estimates r super bad ,clearly you’re not good w money
Only sport when they go to work they can loss their lives , yes worth every dollar and with all the manager, taxs and people wanting their money they desire it . Wonder if some guys have investors help to bank the money , probable.
Dangerous sport like bull fighting but not controversial.
I would love to know the win and points bonuses… must be juicy for the likes of Sainz and others.
Logan sergeant should just go to nascar
You just about have more sponsers than an F1 team... enjoy the revenues.
Who the hell would pay any money to Logan sargeant ? Williams is getting ripped off big time 😆
They are the “Best” of the Uber wealthy not the “ Bsst Of The Best”
Top F1 driver 2025 lets say Lewis at $100,000,000....top hedge fund manager in 2023 made $4,100,000,000...40 times more. Just for perspective.
He’s not at $100 mil. Most of his deal is going to his initiatives and charities of his choosing. Ferrari have set up a fund to distribute the money. It’ll be a tax write off and marketing expense for them.
How many call MONACO home for tax reasons? 😎😎🤡🤡
Carlos and checo disgustingly underpaid
Why does Charles make so much??
Max's contract should have a clause that he must be paid the double of whatever next highest salary is. He is underpaid if he gets only 15 million more than Lewis.
Someone else said he gets extra for points and wins
@@MrRono19 They all do.
You may know already but if not, look up how Kimi Raikkonen almost bankrupted Lotus due the per point bonus he got.
Lewis still has a record Max doesn’t have, whether Max can sustain his performances over a longer period is yet to be played out. Lewis also has won WDC’s in two different eras (normally aspirated and in the hybrid era).
Max is a very talented driver, no doubt, but don’t underplay what Lewis has achieved. They are both amazing talents and we’re lucky to be living through this period with these guys, plus Oscar and Lando, Carlos and others.
What absolute nonsense 😂. Max fans like you are so weird sometimes.
George overpaid AF 😂
incoming spanish armada lmao
G’ Day
How unfair for Perez ,the way he’s treated taints the sport !!
Why?, he is treated according to his position.
Guessing...
Best value for money?
Max Verstappen!
F1 Driver’s Salaries Revealed: proceeds to be completely made up numbers based on nothing factual, the absolute definition of click bait, really poor effort here Kym
Contract estimates are inherently speculative and all numbers come from paddock gossip. Kym is merely reporting what he's learned from talking to different teams.
