interesting history of this lake .... the Attabad lake was formed when there was a landslide in Attabad village in Hunza valley n Gilgit-Baltistan., 14 kilometers (9 mi) upstream (east) of karimabad that happened in the year 2010 on 4th January. This landslide caused minor destruction and it cost the death of 25 people and it also jammed the flow of the water of Hunza river for more than four months. The lake overflowing has moved 6,000 individuals from upstream villages, run aground and an additional 25,000, as well as snowed under more than 19 kilometers of the Karakoram Highway The lake reached 21 kilometers (13 mi) extended as well as above 100 meters (330 ft) in deepness by the primary week of June 2010 when it arose rolling over the landslide dam, totally immersing lesser Shishkat plus partially drowning Gulmit The portion of Gojal. Attabad lake weather is very cold always . Due to the diversification of the inflow and outflow of the water level of the new lake, the water levels continued to increase in the year 2010 of the 10th of June. Because of the bad weather in these northern areas, the source of food, medicine as well as other necessary item got stopped. This is because most of the means of transportation such as helicopters, and other services to Hunza were not able to begin again. This dazzlingly turquoise mountain lake was created in the wake of a natural disaster. Attabad lake location was made on on January 4, 2010, by a massive landslide thundered down the sides of the remote Hunza Valley in the Gilgit Baltistan region of Northern Pakistan. The village of Attabad was buried, killing 20 people and destroying 26 homes. Although Attabad Lake itself has mesmerizing beauty, it has a tragic history. The landslide which created this beautiful tourist attraction sadly resulted in twenty deaths and a five-month block of the Hunza River water flow. During the time of crisis, many Pakistani political leaders, including Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, and Yousuf Raza Gillani, also visited the lake and announced reliefs for the victims and their families. The downstream area was under serious threat of flood and had to be evacuated. Since the birth of this beautiful lake was a result of a natural disaster, it has been given another name as well-the Attabad disaster. The 21 kilometer-long Attabad Lake in Hunza Valley is also a time called a juvenile as it had only existed since 2010. Considering the low amount of tourists the area receives, I think it is justified. It's not cheap to build such a high quality facility or hotel literally so far away from rest of the civilization, building in such a difficult geographical conditions and upkeep is not cheap either when you are so far away in the mountains. They have to earn back the money and profit somehow.
