Grate the butter into a bowl that is 1) just out of the freezer and 2) sitting inside a larger bowl of ice. Keeps the temp way down and greatly reduces the likelihood that the butter will get anywhere close to room temp.
It appears to be time consuming, I am not trying to sound negative, they look amazing, I usually make my biscuits on the spur of the moment and use jiffy mix! Mine are exceptable, but these are far better ❤!
I love this! We have something kinda similar in Hungary called "pogácsa", though that's more salty, especially my favorite variant "sajtos pogácsa" (pogácsa with cheese) :)
Bonus: mix shredded cheddar into the dough before baking. Brush with melted garlic parsley butter afterward. You'll wind up with biscuits better than anything red Lobster serves.
Wondra flour is wheat flour that has been pre-cooked and dried. If you think of instant oatmeal (oatmeal that's par-boiled and dried for faster cooking), Wondra is the flour equivalent. Like pastry flour, Wondra is lower in protein than all-purpose flour and comes very finely ground. Can’t get this _AT ALL_ in Japan.
I am an advanced baker, used quality butter and KA flour. Rechecked the measurements (used a scale) a second time and my biscuits were sitting in a puddle of butter while baking. So confused.
Everybody always folds their biscuit dough. I don't like that. If you want Hardee's/McDonald's style biscuits, DON'T FOLD. You don't want layers -- just clumps. Once you spread your dough out onto the baking sheet, just cut out your shapes and toss 'em in the oven.
50/50 butter and lard, buttermilk and self rising flour is what makes the best biscuits. Those look too hard. A great biscuit is light and airy, almost melting in your mouth, not crunchy on the outside.
As a Brit I haven't come across a biscuit that looks like this. It looks more like a pastry rather than a digestive or a custare cream. Looks like it would go down with some PG tips
the background music was a terrible choice it doesnt fit the presenters tempo what are you guys doing otherwise great episode thanks for the quality content
Sorry I'm not a chef but I've been cooking for over 50 years and those are the worst looking biscuits I've ever seen and I make excellent biscuits according to the people that have eaten them
These are absolutely not anything I've ever seen anyone bake, eat and or share with others. This is a hot mess. This looks like a child tried to make biscuits for the first time, with zero help. Look at ANY other recipe for biscuits, this is atrocious.
This isn't "American" anything. This is a burned mess and should be tossed. Someone should teach this girl how to make biscuits. It's incredibly simple.
she is such a passionate foodie, i love her and how she describes things
Presentation and clarity get top marks! This is what RUclips should be ❤
My Yiayia would put the bowl and grater in the fridge so there was more cold tools to offset her warm hands. Kinda helps me when I do stuff like this
That made the book fold look really easy, I'll have to try it next time. That is a nice crunch at the end.
Exceptional, at every stage care and consideration has been taken... 10 out of 10 I would clean the tray.
I know this is going to sound weird but seriously going to be making these for my son for his birthday he will love this, thanks!
Just made these Biscuits Yummy Best I ever made I used Apple Butter ❤❤❤👋🏾👋🏾😊

This is the first time I've ever heard of Wondra Flour. Gotta get some
Where do you buy Sondra flour? Never heard of it
@@lauriesheppard3394here in the US it is in the flour row. It comes in a round canister.
Awesome explanation and visuals!
I wonder if you can freeze the squares and bake them as you need them?
Well done. I'm sold!
I want to try this.❤
These for my next batch of sausage gravy.
Thatl looks delicious 😋
Thank you for detailed explanation ⚘️
I absolutely love it. Definitely gonna try it ❤
They look fantastic! Absolutely Brilliant!!!! Do You know the internal temperature when they are cooked to perfection?
It appears to be time consuming, I am not trying to sound negative, they look amazing, I usually make my biscuits on the spur of the moment and use jiffy mix! Mine are exceptable, but these are far better ❤!
Adrienne!!!! Watch her season of Top Chef Colorado.
Great season
No thanks. I haven't seen a single thing that is appealing here. 👎🏼
I NEED to bake these biscuits 🤤🤤🤤
I love this! We have something kinda similar in Hungary called "pogácsa", though that's more salty, especially my favorite variant "sajtos pogácsa" (pogácsa with cheese) :)
This looks amazing
This strikes me as flash puff pastry in biscuit form... with buttermilk.
I'm not eating much carbs nowadays, but this will be my next treat day indulgence 🤤😋
I think I love you! Those biscuits look amazing!
Bonus: mix shredded cheddar into the dough before baking. Brush with melted garlic parsley butter afterward. You'll wind up with biscuits better than anything red Lobster serves.
Sounds way too crunchy
She's so cuuuute!
Thank you!😊
A SCONE!
❤
Wondra flour? Ok but can I get that at my local grocery store? I just want a recipe where I don’t have to go hunting for wild ingredients.
You can use 2 cups of all purpose and a teaspoon of cornstarch! Hope this helps! 🙂
My walmart has it.
Wondra flour makes exceptional gravy and very tender cakes too. It used to be a very popular ingredient.
Wondra is everywhere. It’s in a slim canister. It is used in making lumpless gravy among other things.

This must be the most delicious thing in the channel 😍
yum...
Why are they so crispy? Sounds like you’re eating a giant crouton
I am madly in love with this woman.

What if you don't have wondra flour ? Is there a substitute?

Yea- just made these and the same thing happened. This recipe sucks.
Aren't these scones?
nope, close but not the same and scones are usually sweeter and/or have fruit in them
Yes, this is absolutely a scone. It's also a really over baked biscuit. I'm not sure what people think is so appealing about this.
@@AmysAttitude If you're American (which she obviously is) it's a biscuit.
Only Brits ask this question!😅
1. There is less sugar than a UK scone
2. No buttermilk in a UK scone
😋 Mmmmmmmmmmmm
We don't have Wondra Flour in the UK. What can I substitute it wth please?

Yep
These biscuits remind me of Popeyes biscuits. 😮
Correct. This is nothing that a "professional" should be sharing and be proud of. This hurts my bakers heart.
Personally I love biscuits having eaten them ally life (southern parents) . This takes way to long
Yep….we’re not getting any younger.
There is nothing here that is reminiscent of actual biscuits. I've lived in the south all my life and we would never. This is embarrassing.
Y'all just go watch Paula Deen for a basic.
Paula dean is a racist and uses the n word.
Or anyone else for that matter. This is an embarrassment to all biscuits.
Why does the recipe for 'biscuits' look like the same as my grandmother uses for scones?
Because these aren't biscuits.
As a Brit I haven't come across a biscuit that looks like this. It looks more like a pastry rather than a digestive or a custare cream.
Looks like it would go down with some PG tips
When I made my homemade biscuits a few years ago, I also made square biscuits! 🥺🥰
Second😂
now you've mentioned it, american biscuit is literally rough puff version of croissant
It's a scone they've just rebranded.
She nice
Third😂😂
Can i get the Measurents for the ingredients. plesse
Those biscuits are way too hard. Biscuits shouldn't have a loud crunch when you bite them.
Respectfully no- a southerner
British person joins the chat! Those aren’t biscuits! I have no idea what they are, but biscuits they ain’t!
I guess it's more like crumpets to u
Scones… perfect with a cup of tea 😂
UK ... Look at sausage, biscuit and gravy 😊
Glad I wasn't the only one haha!
It's definitely more of a scone and overbaked scones at that.
Is there truly no other brand of instant flour than Wondra?
I wish I could make the perfect biscuit but I have naturally warm hands. 😪
First! 🤩
the background music was a terrible choice it doesnt fit the presenters tempo what are you guys doing otherwise great episode thanks for the quality content
“Biscuits" is the translation of “biscotti" but “biscuits" are not “biscotti”.
Wtf
Wondra Flour? So much for simple. What is it with these new chefs with their pretentious ingredients.
Box graters are a thing of the past.
Biscuits are supposed to be fluffy and soft, not a pastry. Also those looked flat and dry.

I don't see the evidence of either. I've worked with tons of chefs and this would be thrown out, immediately.
