when i had the chance to go to New York in 2012, i took a subway to Delancy street to walk around and see the sites of one of my favorite movies. Fantastic.

"Crossing Delancey" - terrific movie and I love this song.
I've seen this movie countless times...one of my favourites...never tire watching it and the soundtrack is simply magic. Discovered The Roches from this movie and how great an actor Riegert is.
My mom loved this movie. She died 18 years ago, she was 50. I don't have any photos, recordings, or any of her/our heirlooms, mementos, etc, so I watch the films she loved to feel a connection to her. I don't like romcoms, but I've grown to absolutely adore this film (and the songs).
Such a beautiful song - I loved this movie so much. Peter Riegert was delightful as the persistent suitor of the commitment shy Amy Irving. Makes me happy!
Theresa, even though you wrote this comment a year ago today, I feel like it still so true and that we are truly connected in our agreement of it. This is the kind of stuff I LIKE to see on RUclips. People who are like me...only different. Who have similar ideas and can perhaps even be compatible in some deeper way. Anyway, I have a lot of errands to do right now, so I'm VERY glad to see that you said this thing that you said.
She wasn’t commitment shy, she didn’t want to commit to a lowly pickle maker, because she fancied herself part of the intellectual elite. Ironically, the pickle maker was a lot more introspective and intelligent than all of her blowhard publishing friends.
I first saw it quite an umber of years ago and was entranced by it. I just saw it again this weekend and it is just as delightful as it was then. I also picked up a on few points I missed first time around.
First saw this about 1989. Never forgot it. Periodically I rewatch it to this day. Scenes with Bubbie and Sam are the best. The extras and the backgrounds are authentic to me. Memories and sights and smells of parts of my youth. Thanks for posting.
When I’m walkin’ around the road it occurs to me I never thought I could be lucky Lucky I’m not a person to whom these words come easily I never thought I could be lucky Lucky, lucky And I see you comin’ toward me in a crowd Lookin’ the way that you do My heart is aching ‘cause I really love you Love you, love you Pretty pictures in a magazine ad Love looks like it’s easily had It’s just a vision you have and can’t be near What you really want to see clear Love you, love you And I see you comin’ toward me in a crowd Lookin’ the way that you do My heart is breaking ‘cause I really love you Happy, love you Here’s a thin thread of hope I’m hangin’ from Hope you’re gonna be the one Ooh, ooh, ooh It’s a strong love that won’t come undone Hope you’re gonna be the one Happy Love you Lucky
Peter is an impressive actor. I've always thought so. I'm surprised he isn't as well known, as he should be. He was also awesome in another gem, Local Hero. And, who can forget his inspired turn, as Boon, in Animal House. At least in Crossing Delancey St, he got the girl.
THANK YOU, thank you, thank you... a thousand times!! Someone had uploaded the film in parts and this was magically at the end of the last clip! I treasured it for the short while that it was allowed to remain here. This is one of the tenderest songs and music and singing - and so evocative! I first watched Crossing Delancey in 2001 and this song was such a lovely surprise at the end... Listened to it again only in 2013. And now, thanks to you, I have it back in my life again :)
I have always wondered why the soundtrack is not offered on the Amazon or Apple or any other music streaming service. Would love to ask the Roches why this is so. Isn't there another composer(s) listed on the soundtrack besides the Roches? I know that there is. The Soundtrack SHOULD be placed on the above platforms.
At the end of the movie, they play the song in full. If you put the closed captioning on, they type out the lyrics. I was trying to figure out if Suzzy sang the lead vocal on this one and happy to see that she does! Great movie. My family and I have probably watched it more than 20 times.
What’s not to love about this movie!?
I’ve watched it countless times, and will continue.

I adore everything about this film, including the soundtrack.

@Carson Lund - I'm just seeing your comment now. Thank you for your very kind words.
Yes. An inspired movie. The ending of the film was pitch perfect! 👏👏
This was the first role I ever saw him in. I still think it is his best.

I love this movie. Always surprised that not many people know about it.

One of my favorite movies…just sweet as can be! I love the pairing of Peter and Amy as Sam and Izzy…some beautiful chemistry there.
Love love love the Roches. One of my favorite songs of all time is "Everyone is good".

Great song, and great movie that poked fun at the self-proclaimed New York City intelligentsia.
Just watched Crossing Delancey and rediscovered this song and The Roches...
Underrated movie, a rom com with more heart and substance than flash and superficiality.
One of my favorite movies and songs!
A great movie with great music to match, one you'll never forget.
One of my favorites ever! Filmed in the city I LOVE!!
Amy Irving! Wow... and what an ending with this superb song.
what a great movie
When I’m walkin’ around the road it occurs to me
I never thought I could be lucky
Lucky
I’m not a person to whom these words come easily
I never thought I could be lucky
Lucky, lucky
And I see you comin’ toward me in a crowd
Lookin’ the way that you do
My heart is aching ‘cause I really love you
Love you, love you
Pretty pictures in a magazine ad
Love looks like it’s easily had
It’s just a vision you have and can’t be near
What you really want to see clear
Love you, love you
And I see you comin’ toward me in a crowd
Lookin’ the way that you do
My heart is breaking ‘cause I really love you
Happy, love you
Here’s a thin thread of hope I’m hangin’ from
Hope you’re gonna be the one
Ooh, ooh, ooh
It’s a strong love that won’t come undone
Hope you’re gonna be the one
Happy
Love you
Lucky
Love this song!! ❤️❤️
Their best work, right here.
Riegert's performance was Master Class level on a par with Spencer Tracy.

Agree..masterful...the expressions on his face...his mannerisms...simply tops! I forget I'm watching a movie. That's my bar for an excellent one.
I thought he was closer to Chuck Norris.

Lovely movie, beautiful song.💖
FABULOUS MOVIE BUBBY EXCELLENT AMY PETER AWESOME MOVIE GREAT MUSIC
I just watched the move again this weekend and enjoyed it even more than when I first saw it a long time ago.
@@pdef1949 I first saw it and it’s theatrical release. It’s been decades since I’ve seen it now.
I never saw it in the theaters. Only on cable, but nice to see it's making the rounds again.
Oh wow! I just discovered that the lead singer is also the same actress who played Marilyn Cohen, the Izzie's setup date for Sam.
Wow. Thanks for sharing. I just watched Crossing Delancey for about the 10th time or so... Never get tired of it.
I just noticed that too, watching the movie again this weekend.
love this song, thank you
Oh how I loved Amy Irving. ❤️
Wonderful old time throw down between bubby and matchmaker. Who can steal the show.
That special feeling when you are stealing the scene.
My generation had "how do I talk to Isabell". Next generation had " you had me at hello "
I love it too.
You know...I need more!
Amy Irving and Peter riegert had great chemistry
They sure did. It was palpable. Great film.
Love the song
Cool tune!
Wish someone could post the whole soundtrack CD. Can't get it on iTunes. Only used copies on Amazon at huge prices.
Not in itunes store. Would love to buy it!

LUCKY song not on Spotify??😢 my engagement song in 1990!
I like this song a lot but wish the dance at the end would have gone longer than just the freeze frame.....
Try as I might, I have not been able to locate the lyrics for this song. Has anyone else found them?
No. I’ve been looking as well. ☹️

Is that a picture of the Roches on the left wall?
I hear some Paul Simon influence in this song.
