    Spike shit talking ragavan then immediately losing to ragavan is classic

      Ragavan has always been a high-variance card. That's one of the main reasons it's such an awful design.
      It's a card that might be suboptimal relative to available alternatives in a pure win rate sense, but it will stupidly snowball and take over the game when it can't be answered.

      Ragavan is poorly designed and unfun to play against? Uuuh have you considered that rags has been powercrept??? sorry your argument is now invalid.

    I know satoru is really good but what if instead of blue you play green for insidious roots and grist? Chthonian nightmare seems like it would be sooooo good with those two cards.

      Sounds good if you got all the pieces, but you'd lose a lot of card draw that would have helped you assemble the pieces. Consistency vs power maybe?

      I agree with the other guys comment but also think that list sounds super fun, maybe you try and find a way to make up the card draw with the extra mana you get from the token ability?

    Some list to put the frog under cauldron?
    Maybe some with insidious roots?

      Many spike decks are like this, but is lucky AF in the leagues he puts on youtube and just rarely sees any relevant hate. And when he does, opponents usually have nothing else and loses anyway. That dude may be a very good player, but he is lucky AF, watch match 4 how he top decks bowmasters just after when his opponent casts necrodom (and draws no bowmaster removal or lifegain of course). That is just one example, but spike nearly never floods, nearly never draws one landers, nearly never draws 2 lands in a row, but I only watch his youtube so I guess he uploads there only the lucksack leagues, not the ones when he gets the same mtgo treatment most people have

      @@addkite youtube doesnt see the leagues where he 1-2 drops it happens reasonably often,, that is pretty boring content. But also, he uploads once a day, he simply doesnt play enough leagues to cherry pick 1 in 10 like you are saying.

      @@giorgioleoni3471 Oh yeah it looks real fun, satoru scam plus frog is the real answer to graveyard hate, sure its a lot weaker than looping the nightmare, but "honest" grief to cut their hand up, satoru to let grief cantrip, then slam a frog, discard your hand and pray is probably your best bet if they've got enough hate.
      I am interested to see maybe an esper build or at least white spash to ephemerate the griefs as the backup scam and try to dodge the hate. I don't know how risky trying to run a pivot sideboard with the ephems would be, or how painful that manabase would be without any lifegain.

    Please don't call a monowhite deck "Death and Taxes". The "death" part is black cards; monowhite would just be "Taxes". (And no, you can't just call any deck with removal "Death and", because that's every deck.)

    • @packcrackergoose7111

      Death and taxes hasn't had black in quite some time, in any format.

    • @nathanhennessy3382
      @nathanhennessy3382 2 месяца назад +15

      Lol what? The name is just a clever play on the old adage “nothing is certain except death and taxes” because the deck played tax cards, and then killed you. It had nothing to do with the colors.

    • @somecleverthing
      @somecleverthing 2 месяца назад

      @@nathanhennessy3382 If that was true then literally any deck could be called death and taxes, because they all kill you and they all want to be certain of their victory. But the original list was specifically a black (death) and white (taxes) deck. But I understand your confusion, seeing as how people have been misusing the name for a long time. It's not your fault.

    • @blakejones6206
      @blakejones6206 2 месяца назад +7

      Okay, The name of the deck has been around for a long time. It comes from the saying there is nothing sure in life except death and taxes, and then the magic community added and someone playing weenie. Death and taxes was the deck name Long before Thalia or other taxation effects. Used to run Savannah lions, paladin en-vec, and cards similar. Every time they print ed more efficient weenies the deck took them in. They used to joke that when they printed the taxation effects on creatures it was custom for the deck, whose name was already strongly in place.
      This has been magic history with someone who was there.
      Edit* it isn't necessarily one color or the other. There was even a version that was predominantly red.

    • @somecleverthing
      @somecleverthing 2 месяца назад +1

      @@blakejones6206 You're saying the deck was called death and taxes when it had no death and no taxes in it? The deck you're talking about is called "White Weenie" because it had "weenie" (weak/small) white creatures in it. I don't know what "and then the magic community added and someone playing white weenie" means, though.
