    Is a huge improvement for effects but I will not be swapping my ew410 as this new model cannot sample cromaticaly across the keys and Yamaha have reduced samples loop banks to 4 instead of 6. This way the whole point of my purchase (my videos reflect that) so now for example, I cannot recreate old prodigy tracks or create my own sampling music. Only my personal preference and opinion, otherwise I'm out.

    • @yamahamusicians
      @yamahamusicians  2 года назад +4

      Certainly, the effects have taken a step forward and in general, this is a lot of keyboard for the money but I hear what you are saying. It is often the case that manufacturers give us something but also take something away. It appears to be a balancing act between functionality, cost and market placement. That is they need to make it an attractive proposition without damaging sales of keyboards further up the range. Yamaha holds a lot of focus groups to help steer the direction in which they go and I would assume they concluded that reduced sample loop banks and lack of chromatic tuning came further down the list than improved effects and the addition of organ sounds from the YC series etc. For people like yourself who already own the EW410, it may not be time to "upgrade" but for others, new to the market the PSR-EW425 is a very compelling proposition.

      @@yamahamusicians Totally agree. It's like my "Budget Roland W30" but now I may have to look at a ModX or an MC groove box. With fewer chip crises and less pandemic hassle, I'm sure Yamaha will bring even more to the table in a few years.

      There are always things we would "like" them to have added. I don't think that will ever change. Even with top-end keyboards we often have a wishlist as long as your arm😂 I don't think we will ever get everything we want. But that is the nature of the market. I am sure that Yamaha could produce a keyboard that fulfils our wildest dreams but it would need to be prohibitively expensive because we would never need to buy another keyboard again! The PSR-E series is a continuously evolving product line. Is it perfect? No. But it does represent great value for money and the fact that it is the most popular keyboard line in the world shows that Yamaha must be doing something right.

    • @saulhudson1147
      @saulhudson1147 2 года назад +9

      Hi Craig. The two keyboards are almost identical apart from the number of keys of course. The only slight differences are that the PSREW425 has 10 Premium Organ Voices. So the same number of presets but 10 of them are these "premium" organ voices on the PSR EW425. The other difference is that the EW425 has higher wattage output. 2 x 12 watts compared to the 2 x 6 watts on the PSR-EW473. Oh and the PSR EW425 takes 6 “D” size batteries whereas the PSR E473 takes 6 AA batteries. I hope that helps?

      Not exactly the same but I think I understand what you mean. As with all PSR-E series they are updated with incremental changes rather than anything groundbreaking. If you already own a PSR-EW410 then there is probably very little incentive to purchase the EW425. However, if you are buying for the first time, it still represents great value for money and is a very good introduction to Yamaha's arranger keyboard lineup.

      @@yamahamusicians Update: Most US music & electronic retailers are still waiting with backorders, but thanks to the Reverb app, I found the one store that had a few & they shipped it in 2 days
      (I don't know if it was remaining inventory from the first shipments or somehow had good luck with current supply chain issues)
      Problem is, there are two instrument sounds I depend on, & on the 425, they're rather thin sounding. I'm doing Celtic music concerts and even song services. A big disappointment is Harp 125, it's especially thin compared to the Casio WK7600, (harp & Chinese harp) they're almost as good as one of the first Fantom series. (I have the rack mounted version)
      Same with upright bass (Acoustic bass)
      If there are any tweaks to fatten them up, I'm open to suggestions. I really hope they would have be ready out of the box. These days I have time to tweak parameters.
      That's all for now.

      I think the pads are used to trigger samples only. Bear in mind that even though Yamaha has packed a lot of features into the PSR-E473 this is still a budget priced instrument. It is an entry-level arranger keyboard, Freddy. There are plenty of musicians who gig with these PSR-E series and earn a living using them so, I doubt they would consider it to be a "toy". This keyboard is still horrible. Yes some of the sounds are improved but it is still not enough considering that we're in 2022. How about putting more drum kits, improve electric guitars, better woodwinds, and better synths and increase fidelity. I've heard the sound on the Yamaha's demo and the guitar sounds like shit! And the sound of the styles are blatantly fake. Toy like sound. And they will say something like oh its ''new generation of sound'' or ''sound like a pro'' bullshit and then it still has 90's crappy psr voices!! Yamaha should definitely delete those crap and put old Tyros 1, 2 or 3 sounds in PSRs. Some would say buy a 6000$ Genos for my nitpicky ears but It's 2022!!!!! Yamaha should stop making too much compromises in their PSR-E!

    • @yamahamusicians
      @yamahamusicians  2 года назад +4

      Keep in mind which part of the market these keyboards are aimed at. I am sure Yamaha could make the PSR-E series sound like a Genos but if you want Genos sounds you pay Genos prices. Yamaha is no different from other companies in this respect. I would agree that many of the sounds in these keyboards are well past their shelf life but this is not a premium product. They have always moved sounds from previous generation keyboards into these entry-level instruments. So these keyboards have to be judged in light of what they are, not what we want them to be.

    • @amusic9825
      @amusic9825 2 года назад +1

      @@yamahamusicians Yeah, but i didnt say Yamaha shoult put Genos sounds in the e473, but at least improve other sounds and make it sound like a Tyros 1, 2, 3 at least. Those are old keyboards!! I know its just a beginner keyboard but that's a bad excuse for a horrible sounding keyboard. Beginners have ears too. Its 2022 everything is cheap!!! Like it wont hurt to put some great sounds made 12 years ago since new latest high ends have even better sound. This is shameful. Yamaha keyboards are overpriced, PSR-E is still a crappy toy, the SX, especially 700, just recycle old Tyros sounds, piano isn't good, no new drums, even old audio drum styles, should have some of the newer sounds in Tyros 5 or Genos. And the Genos is so absurdly expensive. Even MODX and MONTAGE have the same sounds at a huge price gap.

    • @yamahamusicians
      @yamahamusicians  2 года назад +5

      @@amusic9825 Sure but it's all relative. What sounds poor quality to you may sound excellent to someone else. The majority of people buying these PSR's are new to keyboards or looking to replace an older cheaper keyboard. For them, the PSR-E473/EW425 will sound fantastic! These PRS-E series keyboards are not aimed at people like you and me. For the sort of quality, you are talking about you need to pay more money. There is no getting around that. Yamaha is a business, not a charity. They have products at all price levels to suit all budgets but they are not going to make a PSR-E sound like a PSR-SX because it would damage sales of those keyboards. In the same way that the PSR-SX700 does not have all the features and sound of the Genos. If you don't like what Yamaha offers, don't buy it. It's your money. Buy something else?

      Negative critics usually have negative reception, but this isn't the case right now. If you are not satisfied with the new model and its properties, you don't have to keep following it, you can always change to another brand, for "better" instruments. Yamaha is the best keyboard brand, not only because of their price, but I believe they are really trying to do something. They put a lot of stuff into their keys for a low price. At another brand, you would get the same state for the 1.5x of the money. For me, their sounds and voice are just fine. If you want a model with better sounds, you probably buy a better one. Don't expect anything much better for relatively the same price. Also, this new EW-425 I'm impatiently looking for is far the best model they've made so far in the PSR-E series. According to the videos I've watched about it, it looks promising. If you are not a professional, you're not going to look for something else bigger and better, 'cause you wouldn't be able to use it fully. High-end keys like the Genos are for true professionals, who lives of music. But this EW-425 is just the perfect keyboard for amateurs and sunday keyboardist like me.
