Thank you! I know your comment is old, but we are looking content through them this year! It’s super helpful to hear from people who have worked with them!
Thank you for this! We have spent over 100 nights at various WDW resort hotels but have never done the DVC rental thing but have considered it multiple times. The deal breaker has always been the non refundable clause. I think we may actually pull the trigger this time though for our May trip. We can stay at Boardwalk for about 30 more a night than at Pop Century.
This was so great, Bekah! We’ve came so close to renting points before, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. The non-refundable was just a deal breaker for us right now. Hopefully once things go back to a more consistent normal, we’ll be able to in the future! We’ve got so many Deluxes to try out! 😂
Toooootally get it!!! Trip insurance is always an option, and you would STILL be saving money compared to the Deluxe prices on the Disney website. But oh yes... sooo many resorts to try 😍
We are renting dvc points for the first time in May at Copper Creek from David’s. The process was so easy and the response time was quick. Highly recommend David’s. So excited to see what it is like renting dvc points. We trying to decide if becoming dvc members would be a good fit for our family. Thanks to your videos for showing and explaining this option! ❤️
We are staying dvc for the first time in March we are so excited! We are paying $600 a night for a studio preferred view at the Riviera! $1,800 was a lot to come up with for 3 nights but now it’s paid for and I’m so excited! Btw can Disney please upgrade Art of Animation’s status to a deluxe resort?!! I mean we are paying $600 a night to stay there too! Just a thought lol we are staying at the riviera for 3 nights and then our favorite resort Art for 5 nights 😍 then going back next Christmas so I’m excited to see what kind of deals I might get during those dates however we will probably stay in two rooms at all-star movies, to save money
1) Is it true that travel agents can’t do these bookings (with renting DVC points)? 2) I’m so curious what is making it possible to get into a deluxe for essentially a value price? Is someone losing money through this deal (Disney or the DVC member)? It’s really amazing! For those prices, I could forfeit the cancelation privileges.
We have never personally used travel insurance when renting points, but David’s actually has a company they recommend on their website! It’s called travel insurance. com ☺️
Thanks for the info! Are there any Disney resorts along the Skyliner route that you can rent DVC points for? Also what are the differences between the value and deluxe other then a little more room and theme? I will add that preschool germs are real, so that non-refundable thing is scary. What about trip insurance? Maybe make another video about DVC points & trip insurance.
Riviera Resort is the one DVC/deluxe resort on the skyliner. The differences between value and deluxe are: more dining options, splash pad, interior entrances to your room (actual hallway as compared to an exterior entrance), overall nicer rooms, and more transportation perks/options. And I completely understand the fear of needing to cancel. You can absolutely purchase trip insurance for peace of mind! Check out my DVC rental playlist where I just did a more updated video answering questions :)
Tickets would be purchased just like normal ☺️ And although the dining plan isn’t currently available, the DP can only be purchased by the owner on your behalf. But we’ve always estimated how much our dining will cost, and purchased gift cards!
We've never stayed in a deluxe resort and have been tempted by renting dvc before, but there are still some reservations... Maybe we'll bite the bullet next trip!
I’m so glad! If you’re able to plan a year in advance, I recommend getting your request in 11 months out ☺️ But there will still be a some availability if you plan closer to the 7 month mark 👍🏼
Are y’all annual pass holders? I feel like maybe in the future if we get annual passes I’ll look into this option more bc you can’t take advantage of all the Disney package deals if you’re not buying tickets with your stay anyway, so it seems like it would make more sense then.
We were pass holders in 2019/2020, and decided not to renew ☺️ You can actually take advantage of room only discounts on the website without purchasing tickets! And there’s always the AP discount every now and then. But we’ve still saved sooo much more money by renting points, as compared to the 15-30% off Disney offers sometimes 👌🏼🙌🏼
Hiya, thank you so much for this video - it is very helpful. I have a question if that’s ok - this is all brand new to me but I am very interested to learn more. Can you normally find something for a whole 14 day trip or is this option better for a few night? Thanks so much 🥰 xxx
I’m so glad this was helpful! Yes! You can absolutely put in a request to rent points for a 14 day stay! I would definitely have your request ready to go 11 months out, with a few resort options though 👍🏼
Thanks for the video. We are 6 months away (tomorrow) from our 9-night trip - would you even bother checking with David’s to see if anything is available? Based on what you said in this video and your 2022 video, I’m thinking not. It’s also over a race weekend…
You mentioned you stayed at Animal Kingdom lodge with DVC points. Do they also have a separate section for DVC rentals or is it the same rooms like when you book normally? Does that include the cleaning/housekeeping services ?
There are actually 2 separate sections for DVC at AKL. There’s Kidani, which is the DVC building to the resort right next door, and then Jambo house also has its own section in the main building. Housekeeping is included on the 4th and 8th day of your stay ☺️
If you want to stay in a certain part of a resort wear would put the request in? before the request or after the confirmation. Like staying close to a certain pool of the resort.
Any room requests can be made after the reservation is confirmed ☺️ You’ll be able to do online check in including room preferences (floor, location, ect) directly on the app 👌🏼
Thanks for the great info! Does the rentals include free parking at the parks and hotel? Also, I read they are doing after hours park time for Deluxe resort guests. Would we be included in using that privilege? Im hoping there will still be availability for January since its a slower month🤞
Yes! If you are staying in a DVC villa (no matter if you rented points or you’re an owner), all of the perks are the same! So no parking fee at the resort or parks, and you can take advantage of the deluxe after hours 😍
Thank you for the amazing video! If I have paid for the points and end up not being able to go, can someone else stay in my place? Can I rent the points to someone else? Or is there insurance I can purchase?
You are able to add another guest to the reservation up to 30 days out, but you are not able to rent the points out on your own. You are able to add travel insurance though! David’s has a company they recommend listed on their website ☺️
Yes! You would purchase your own tickets and memory maker through the website ☺️ The dining plan is a little different… when it returns, the owner of the points you’re renting would need to add that on for you. In the past, you would provide your CC info or gift card info to David’s DVC rental, they would provide that info to the owner, and the owner would purchase it on your behalf ☺️
We are planning a one year anniversary trip for fall 2024 and I would love to rent points, but I’m worried about the no refund policy during hurricane season. Is there travel insurance that covers these?
Hi Bekah! I’m currently looking into to planning a huge basically “all inclusive feel” type of disney trip for 2023, i am waiting for everything to hopefully go back to normal by then and i want to make the absolute most out of my stay, as i was doing my research I came across renting DVC points and it seems like a perfect fit for me, my only question is that can the owners add on a dining plan (assuming they return by the time i take my trip) and park tickets or do we purchase those separately? and can you even purchase a separate dining plan if you are not directly purchasing a resort room?
Hi Dacy! Great questions! Assuming the dining plan returns, yes, the owner has the ability to add the DP on your behalf for anyone listed on the reservation. David’s handles this by passing along your credit card info to the owner. You can also provide them with a Disney gift card in the exact amount of your DP if you’re not comfortable with the owner having your credit card info. As for tickets, those are purchased directly through Disney as normal ☺️
I’m very interested in doing this, though I have a question. In the small chance that it ever came up, would we tell a cast member that we are renting or would we act like we are in the DVC?
It doesn’t make any difference to your stay if you are the owner or staying on rented points ☺️ Cast members are fully aware that some guests are staying on rented points.
How does it work with the dining plan? I know the dining plan is currently suspended but according to blogs it is anticipated to come back hopefully sooner rather than later, so how would it work if it comes back and I want to add the dining plan?
The owner would need to purchase the dining plan on your behalf ☺️ And David’s facilitates all of this! Your payment info or gift card info would be given to the owner, and they would add the dining plan to your reservation 👍🏼
I am not a DVC member and have never rented before? I have a couple questions. 1). Is there often haggling on dates for owners trying to get rid of points; 2) what happens if an owner defaults and loses membership? Does David's hold onto money until vacation or does money go directly to the owner. Thanks in advance
Great questions! With David’s, there’s really no haggling on dates. They would simply find an owner that best fits your request to make the reservation. And I’ve never heard of an instance where an owner loses their membership while in the process of renting. But in the slight chance that something goes wrong on the owner’s side, I know David’s would do all that they can to make it right with the renter. I’m not positive how the cash flow works on David’s end, but I would assume the owner is paid after the reservation date has passed. I hope that’s helpful!
There are basically no rentals available unless you book reallyyy far out on Davids rentals. It seems you really need to know a year in advance that you want to travel
Correct, renting DVC points these days really does require you to plan a year in advance ☺️ It can be tough, but check the dedicated reservation tab if you’re looking for something a little more last minute!
Hi, Bekah! If I'm booking at the Grand Floridian through David's, are all of the room options available DVC rooms only? Like if I'm booking a studio, is that the DVC studios? Or any studio on the property?
Correct ☺️ You can only book DVC studios when renting points. At the grand Floridian, you have the option of the deluxe studio in the DVC building, or the resort studios in Big Pine Key.
I'm confused. Are the prices that we see under the cost calculator the actual price we will pay? If not, how do we know what we'll be paying and where the savings are? Also, ho much for the cancellation insurance?
Yes! There are no additional taxes or fees. The price you see is your total. And you can always compare prices on the Disney website just to see how much a studio at the Poly for instance would cost if you booked directly through Disney ☺️ I’m not sure on travel insurance pricing, that’s something you would need to add on separately.
No changes can be made to your reservation when you rent points. As for refunds, with David’s your reservation is non-refundable. With DVC Rental Store (who I recommend today!), they offer a credit for a future stay if you need to cancel 🙌🏼
I really want to do this!!! I’m afraid if something goes south and we’re not able to go there’s no safety net.. it’s the only thing that holds me back from renting dvc points
There's always trip insurance! David's has a company they recommend on their website. Even adding on the cost of trip insurance, you would STILL save money by renting points! 😀
@@BekahHart we are going next month and staying at pop lol! I really need to rethink my Disney choices and check into the dvc/trip insurance for future trips. I would love to stay at all of the luxury resorts.
Technically, yes, they have the ability to cancel the reservation. But because you’ve gone through a reputable 3rd party company with a contract involved, the likelihood of that happening is very slim ☺️
It’s recommended you submit your booking request 11 months out. But you can also submit a request at any point after that! Availability after the 11 month window will be limited though.
is there tax on top of the price they list or is it a flat fee? like if it says $2500 for the trip will you pay exactly 2500 or will it be more with tax?
@@BekahHart thank you! Your videos are awesome and super helpful. We just put in a request for the Riviera next February and I'm super excited. How much do you usually budget for park tickets when renting points?
@@bekahs426 I’m so glad to hear it!! When it comes to tickets, you’re able to see exactly how much tickets will cost directly through the website for your dates ☺️
Hey girl! We have been wanting to rent DVC for a while and this video helped answer some questions but one thing I’m still wondering is..Do the DVC owners have the ability to cancel my trip with out any penalty? My fear is we will book a trip and get all ready to go and then have the DVC owner decide never mind at the last minute 😬
@@omega5418 I’m so glad!!! That’s a great question. Technically, yes the owner has ability to cancel the reservation. But because the reservation was made through a 3rd party where you and the owner have signed a contract, it would be extremely rare for that to happen. Another reason that scenario would be an anomaly is because when owners cancel their reservation 1-30 days prior to check in, those points are placed in a holding account that limit their future use. So it really discourages owners from cancelling 30 days out. But again, going through a 3rd party like David’s would protect you from this happening 99.9% of the time ☺️ I hope that helps!!!
@@omega5418 so glad this was helpful! And for what it’s worth, I’ve never heard of an instance where this has actually happened to someone ☺️ Trip insurance is always an option as well to ease the fear! David’s has a company on their website they recommend.
Thanks for the info. May look into renting for a quick getaway. Question on renting pts. My dilemma is I have 100 pts for Aulani that will expire May 2023. I would like to sell or rent them? Is that the same concept? I would probably utilize David DV sales like you suggested. I’m new to all this so it’s confusing
We have never personally used trip insurance when renting points, but David’s has a company listed on their website that they recommend ☺️ And because there’s no way to rent points through Disney, that’s why 3rd party companies like David’s are used ☺️
Thanks for your tips. What would you suggest to do if we would need to cancel the trip due to covid? We are thinking of booking in fall of 2022 when new variants tend to emerge.
Because DVC rentals are non-refundable, I would suggest purchasing trip insurance. David’s has a company they recommend listed on their website ☺️ If you need the option of canceling without trip insurance, I would recommend just booking directly through Disney.

Do these rentals have early entry access?
Yes!
is there tax on top of the price they list or is it a flat fee? like if it says $2500 for the trip will you pay exactly 2500 or will it be more with tax?
No additional taxes or fees ☺️ The price you see is your exact total.
Have you considered renting DVC points before?! What are your thoughts on renting? ☺️
@@BekahHart TY that helps a lot. We’ve only looked at renting through Dave’s. I’d be even more skeptical of the situation otherwise.
Do you buy trip insurance when you rent points or book outright with Disney?
Which resort is your favorite?
I actually have an entire video sharing my favorite resorts for renting DVC points at 😍 I have quite a few favorites!
I feel like after the first time I rent points, I’m going to be kicking myself in the butt for not to have been doing this the whole time 😅
