BACKSTORY:
Here it is. OMF's 1st Hip Hop cover! Since 2006, OMF has encouraged our students to study all genres of music. So when 11 year old Colt started asking to record some hip hop, OMF was very excited to make his dream a reality! So with a group of students, ages 6 to 13, OMF spent nearly six months teaching the students their parts and encouraging them to make the song their own. Due to limited funds, OMF couldn't book a professional recording studio, so the kids recorded all their parts in a garage. And since we needed a large group of kids to sing the chorus in Shimmy Shimmy Ya, we combined the recording session with Michael Dalhover's birthday. So here it is, an ODB song being performed at a 7 year old's birthday party. Is ODB rolling in his grave? Maybe. But did Michael Dalhover have the best birthday party ever? Absolutely!
