Dude, I am SO glad you did the boot up time comparison. I've been using a Shinobi 5" for a while now, and the boot up time is a source of daily frustration for me with that monitor. The boot time on the Indie 7 is honestly a huge selling point for me. As is the overall design, compared to how big and clunky the Shinobi series is.
Great video Josh. I think i definitely will be picking up the Indie 7. It's a solid monitor. I probably will just get a sunshade for it so that I can reduce the reflections. I think it's a great investment
Loved the video bro! I feel like it was - as usual - super informative! I probably won't be getting the monitor but it was really good information to help me make that decision!
I'm leaning towards smallhd 702 touch as 1000 nits is not enough for the daylight shots. Although i can save some money and most of my shots is indoor. I also like that the indie 7 is their latest release.
This is such a beast of a monitor!!! It looks amazing!!! Great video Joshua! Also, do you have any budget recommendations for monitors and do you think it's worth to get one? I'm considering getting a monitor when I get my XT3! Thanks Joshua! 😁
i'm actually filming with the Sony A7rIV in this video - since I was showing the Z cam on camera for the test. I'll get back to using the Z cam soon once I get the e2-F6.
@@joshuamartinstudios The footage looks good and natural. Just got the zcam E2 M4 and still testing the best way to get a natural looking footage, not really a big fan of the overly graded look. I would love a color correction vid from you if thats in you content release plans. Love your aesthetics.
So how about image quality? You have mentioned just about the color tint. Both of them I think are 1080p, but is there any kind of significant difference? How about Peaking option? Peaking on my Swit CM55C (5 inch brother) has range from 0 to 10 and at maximum strength is shows sharper image BUT I am wondering if this peaking option has stronger effect on 7 inch Swit monitor. Previously I had a chance to test SmallHD monitors and their Peaking option seemed to be waay better, with much sharper image until the point that image would get "ugly" because of oversharpening. When you pull focus yourself peaking/sharpening in my opinion is one of the most improtant things on the monitor. Focus Assist with colourfull lines doesn't work like that.
I hate to drop this kind of cash but Ive been through 3 7" monitors in the past year and they all fall apart or just die. Im torn between this dude and Shinobi 7".
Are you getting the smallhd Indie 7?

Did you end up getting the touch? I'm also leaning that way right now. Curious about the battery life with both battery slots filled.

if someone shoots in LOG, how do they figure out the zebra settings since it's separate than the camerass?
One question. Where is the 3,5mm jack and how does it work? On the SmallHD website they say it has one but can't find something.
Good review man .... love Small HD quality but 1000 nits isn’t enough...

Great questions bro! I will answer this in a follow up video this week.
does small hd have el zone?
What power cable are you using for the monitor. Trying to figure out a solution to not use batteries and use a dTap option.
Hi. Does anyone knows if Indie 7 can fit into 702 Touch smallrig cage? Seems like there is a slight difference in dimension on the website.
I came here for SmallHD monitor and now wanna know what eyeglasses are those? I needs to update my 12yr old eyeglasses. Lol.
Lol eye buy direct!
does this monitor come with that locking dc power to d/p tap connector? if not what do you search to find one of those?
Hey what is the power cable you have for the smallHD to dtap?
Does small HD make a monitor that’s compatible with dual pixel auto focus so I can Touch the screen focus on the monitor?
nope
Hi! How would you compare the Indie 7 to the 702 oled? thanks!
Does somebody know if there is a suitable sunhood for the indie 7?
If you haven't won the smallhd, would you pay for it? or the swit fit the bill?
Does the Indie 7 have a fan? Any noises from it?
What do you use to calibrate yours?
hey josh, can this do 4k60 display without no latency issues??
I hadn't noticed any latency issues 🤷🏾♂️ but then again, I don't film much 4k 60

ok, i'm here for MKBHD's cousin 😎
does it control the zcams features?
No it does not
CRAP MONITOR. FIRST TIME I PUT A BATTERY AND IT'S STUCK. NO MATTER WHAT I DO IT WON'T COME OFF.
Did you ever get it off?
