I'm Nigerian but I personally took time to learn the South African national anthem. God bless Africa!!!!!
Yeah mate being a Nigerian not sure if you wanna go there right now
Chukwuebuka Stephen Idafum Admirable, as that is a bit of a hard song. However, this is not the South Africa national anthem.
I learned this in Swahili in school (i grew up in the South Pacific). However, my dad sings this same song in Igbo!
@@alexanderfooy723 ... so what is?
Dappa Don Dadda Combo of this+Die Stem van Suid-Afrika
This song has soul. I love this version. How the parts were integrated. Brings tears to my eyes. Africa!! When??
What a great Patriotic song! Nelson Mendala should be the role model of our leaders in Africa.
Mandela was also at the Los Angeles Coloseum that year, and that day they not only sang "Nkosi Sikeleli Africa", but also "Lift Every Voice and Sing"
O wow. I wish there was a video of that
I was 7years old but i remember the day so well when Africa stood up together
I have equally joined the rank! I have been on youtube for almost an hour listening to the south African national anthem. I am a Nigerian but I am blessed to see people united together in one accord singing their national anthem with so much passion and love for their country. it's so loving to hear.
He literally sacrifices his life in name of the freedom... even if he mistakes sometimes, he is a real hero.... Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, Martin Luther King.... real heroes
Gandhi my foot
Don't forget Oskar Schindler.
@Kelvin A I'd be racist too if I was being treated shit by another race
Look up his dealings with a pastor named Peter Hammond. Very vindictive behaviour from Nelson Mandela, if the accusations are true.
@@AK47_414 while there is much to admire about him, Gandhi had extremely low views of Africans when he lived in South Africa. Do some reading. No one was perfect.
NO WAY!!!! Oh man I am covered in goosebumps. RIP my hero Madiba. I know you are soaring over the sliding rocks, the kopjes and green hills, with eagles and angels, you are a great man, and YOU are an angel now.
a terrorist no angel
For liberation
So fascinating to watch blacks and whites united together to chant the anthem they all pledged.
If only this had been the actual, full anthem ! Without "United we shall stand" it feels empty.
This is the ANC anthem! Before Mandela had it made the national anthem together with the Boer and English anthems. Hope you are not South African with such a lack of knowledge. (Have never been to South Africa myself)
@@HelleKurstein To answer, no, I am not South African - but what you are saying is no different from what I said. I know this was the ANC anthem and I know the "United we shall stand" line came from another anthem altogether. What I mean is that, having heard the modern anthem of South Africa first, this song feels empty without what was added later.
@@HelleKursteinThis is not the ANC anthem. It was composed long before the ANC existed. It's the African national anthem. It's Nkosi Sikelel'iAfrika, not Nkosi Sikelel'iANC or Nkosi Sikelel'iSouth Africa. It was also the national anthem to 4 other Southern African states. Don't mislead people about my country and heritage
I am Welsh, people love our anthem to my surprise and pride, but this is my personal favourite Anthem
I was here ✊️✊️💓
South Africa national anthem is the national anthem for all Africans, I believe. Love from the Pacific.
I love Africa
I get so emotional seeing black and white people together. different colors , one people
Damn this anthem is so powerful
😭 I was in this audience with my mom. ❤
Really ???
You make me crying 😭 😢 😭 such emotional
@@alassanekondo3178 yes ✨😭
Wow..
So was I! I was 8 years old. We lived in San Francisco and took bart to see Nelson Mandela.
@@sarahjoelle4286 awww!! 💖
Left Cape Town when I was 7 because of apartheid, it was a different national anthem. Live in England now but have learned this even though I can only speak English and afrikaans. Proud of being South African. Beautiful nation, beautiful country. Beautiful Everything!! Go and see it for yourself. You will NOT be disappointed. Xx
Never be ashamed of speaking English and Afrikaans I say as an Englishman
I am glad that apartheid ended but I bleed for today's South Africa!
Wow the enthusiasm of the singers. Viva singers, viva!
i get so emotional anytime this anthem is sung. it's the most beautiful song in the whole world
Me too, I use to ask myself why every good thing that we have in Africa belongs to foreigners ???

THANK YOU FOR NOTICED THAT WITH ME MY LOVELY ONE❤️😭❤️😭❤️😭
Like me too, I don't mind leading Nigerian delegates to sing south Africa anthem in their country. Also welcome a South Africa Ambassador to Nigeria by singing his own south Africa anthem
@@Aimhigh819 what foreigners? Chinese? Because of African mismanagement and China's communist ambitions.
South African anthem is the most powerful in Africa
The giant of the 20th century.. respect, love and affection. Long Live Mandela ! Legend ..
A wonderful person.
May he RIP.
🇿🇦🇵🇸
the ANC may have destroyed South Africa, but we won’t let Islamists and Islamist sympathizers destroy the West 🇺🇸🇮🇱
Why don’t the same people who sung here now stand up for what is going on in South African at this present time.
Because there all probably in their late 50s or 40s..
Don't know about all of them, but the big one in the middle is dead.
They did they were killed those are remnant
So, on my mother's side, I'm Motswana and on my father's side, I'm American. As a Motswana, I grew up going back and forth on trips to South Africa. It's like a second home to me, so I really enjoy listening to the national anthem. It makes me cringe, however, that it was sung in California of all places.
I love watching all those people happy to sing the national anthem of South Africa with pride and joy its so emotional 😢😢😢
This is the ANC anthem. An extract of it was used in the current South African anthem.
🙏🏼❤️Madiba merci pour tout ce que tu a fait pour ton peuple et tes frères à travers le monde
Is that Kenneth Kaunda standing beside Mandela?
It is indeed inspiring to watch Americans standing in solidarity with Mandela and singing the African Anthem in the Spirit of UBUNTU!!!
Goosebumps everywhere
Here in tanzania its the same melody but different language
This guy is very Honorable person.. Respect
Muy bello y estremecedor, no me canso de escucharlo
Escuchaste la versión de Paul Simon con Ladysmith black Mambazo en el concierto de Zimbawe ??? Te enamorarás!!¡
It's actually the African national anthem. They sing about Africa, not South Africa. It's "Nkosi Sikelel'iAfrika" (God bless Africa) and Sechaba sa Afrika (the Afrikan nation). South Africa started appearing on the anthem when the English section was incorporated after 1994. Ningakhohlwa imvelaphi yenu Bantu ✊🏾
I like this a lot ,can recite all the stanzas yet am kenyan.
Awesome! Greatest man that ever lived on earth. ...EPIC!!
Beautiful ❤
Americans and South Africans singing and cheering in the same stadium against Apartheid......EPIC!
N'kosi sikelela, N'kosi sikelela, N'kosi sikelela N'kosi sikelela! Hah love that one.
Best anthem :) let's stand United. Love from India
Yes, all for Nelson......good job President................he could not have missed that position.,
I am a Ghanaian but I love this South African national anthem it very emotional it touches the heart ❤️
This is emotional 😰
RIP Nelson Mandela, what a great man
Nkosikelele Africa, Nkosikelele Nigeria
I really hate this that in our 10th class eng ncert book we are reading about the great Nelson Mandela instead of Bhagat Singh or other freedom fighter who help our nation to be independent 😢😢
Cool anthem
ah yes... Afrikaans
wonderful
God bless.AFRICAN
This isn't the south african anthem, it doesn't include Die Stem.
Great Man of God..
This isnt the anthem of South Africa. Certainly not at that time. Die Stem was the anthem. Nkosi Sikelel iAfrika is only partially in the new anthem.
I like it, wonder who wrote it?
Free Palestine , Sudan and Congo.
We don't sing it like this anymore. We sing it like this:
Nkosi sikelel' Afrika
Maluphakanyisw' uphondo lwayo
Yizwa imithandazo
Yethu
Nkosi sikelela
Thina
Lusapho lwayo
Morena boloka setjhaba sa heso
O fedise dintwa la matshwenyeh
O se boloke (Ntate)
O se boloke
Setjhaba sa
Heso
Setjhaba sa
South Afrika
South Afrika
Uit die blou van onse hemel
Uit die diepte van ons see
Oor ons ewige gebergtes
Waar die kranse antwoord gee
Sounds to call to come together
And united we shall stand
Let us live and strive for freedom
In South Africa our land
I prefer the old anthem. (Die Stem van Suid - Afrika)
I actually prefer the old anthem too. The newer one sounds like three anthems rolled into one.
@@eaqua56 Yeah same with me. I like the old one as well.
Did you see the flag front of the crowd ?
And remember what Mandela was the friend of the cry for freedom of Palestine
I missed south Africa
beautifull
I got a Die stem van Suid Afrika as next recomendation
We all know where this is going
Love the sign in Spanish!
I wish Mr. Mandela were still alive 😭 :(
The year when F.W de Klerk released him from prison (in this video), and then 4 years later Mandela become the President (post-Apartheid).
How come the whole of South Africa is a giant choir? Amazing.
🙏🙏🙏🙌RIP NELSON MANDELA 👏👏🙏🙌🙏VIVA
This is only 1/2 of the south African Anthem not the full anthe,m!
😂😂the beginning of the end!!!
I watch this and then think of what South Africa has become. A CONTRDADICTION. So much hope was destroyed 26 years later
Hero
Madiba RIP

here we can see that the people of South Africa have recognized Palestine for a long time
Can this be our anthem
Nice song. But it actually wasn't the national anthem at this time. It only became the anthem in 1994 after the first free democratic election.
Viva Winnie Mandela? That woman was famous for necklacing. In 1986, she said, "With our boxes of matches, and our necklaces, we shall liberate this country". If a conservative or a conservative icon had said something like that, they would quickly have been cancelled.
AMANDA
Vinicius is being racist by Valencia fans, those who are being racist should learn this national anthem with their white teammates to face racism
why someone had flag of Palestine
PLO unity to ANC
#free palestine was started long ago it seems
Because the Arabs especially muslims who occupied Palestine got the treatment same like blacks in Apartheid South Africa by the Zionist Israeli, ANC's strive is also inspired by PLO. Did you know that Israel is one of the countries that supported South Africa's apartheid policy?
What has race have to do with anything?
South África
Those people that keep on forgetting where we came from can watch this
Die stem will always be superior
Don't rust your enemy Africa. It is all a show.

Just seeing Palestine flag there made me think🤔
Viva.MANDELA. Viva. LUIZ INÁCIO LULA DA SILVA. Viva. BARACK OBAMA. Os Melhores.
Die stem van Suid-Afrika is true anthem...
Except that wasn't the national anthem then, nor is it now.
+Rick Nordstrom first half.
It was the unofficial anthem of the oppressed people
Why do you people want to debate something that is just plain ol' incorrect? It was not the anthem. It is not the anthem now. If you claim the sun rises in the west, it does not make it so.
this is the original anthem, written by a black man and not by a white.
