Brings back calming memories. I am from Australia. NSW. I am now 72 yrs of age. When we were in Infant school at the age of 6yrs old, we were all taught these stitches to sew. It was part of our Education and growing up. I am glad to see that this simple embroidery still exists and kept alive and not forgotten. Perhaps the reconnection may be bought back into schools as a doable and non stress past time with goal of achievability for all ages with colour and design of purpose. God Bless. 🇦🇺🇷🇸❤️
Cordial greetings from Colombia. I am an online clinical psychologist. And with my patients, embroidery brings peace and tranquility. I have patients from all over the world who have found in embroidery a source of mental health that gives them satisfaction and regulation of negative thoughts. Surprisingly, I have male patients who have chosen embroidery as occupational therapy and feel very comfortable. I just have to thank you for your video and greetings to all the people who enter this channel. Blessings for all! (I don't speak English, I hope my translator did a good job!)
I agree with you, in how a craft can be calming. I personally believe all young people should learn a craft. anything that brings them pleasure and their go to thing when life throws challenges. I am sure that people who have stress related illnesses would benefit from that one thing that can be their go to thing. A young man I know said to me "your craft helps through pain etc" he was right and I said make sure you find that one thing that will be your go to thing when life is not so good, he did, he love working on his lathe and does beautiful work. Therefore doesn't matter what your thing is, as long as it allows you to put a negative into a positive.
You reminded me of my mom who went to be with the Lord. During every summer vacations she used to teach me these stitches with such passion and zeal that in today's scenario of gadgets I find difficult to convince my daughter to learn the same from me because it's more of a bonding that I developed with my mom in those beautiful 😍 childhood days of mine. I miss those days.
Very true..same here..who knows if our kids will ever learn also or not due to gadgets.. even my mom used to teach me during my summer vacation 😢 even she passed away and ne after so many years I have lost practice and have to start again..
My mom couldn’t sew on a button and had zero interest in sewing anything. I learned how to crochet from my Gran. When I was young none of my friends or their moms did hand work. I taught myself all of it. So I don’t know if the times were different or the people were different. All I know is that I have always loved it and cant imagine not creating things. By the way, I’m almost 70.
This is such a unique idea for a sampler. Most samplers are pretty boring and they all kind of look the same. This is a good teaching and learning method, but with an interesting look as the end product. Thanks for posting! I am learning so much, and there is always more to learn.
you took me 35 years back. Every end of school year we girls taking sewing knitting embroidery classes I wish new generation kids can show some interest on these subjects.thank you for upload.🤩🤩
I hate that our generation missed out on stuff like this. I got to take home economics as an ELECTIVE during 10th grade but it was only 1 semester and didn't do anything like needle crafts...mostly cooking lessons. My sister and I taught ourselves how to knit at 13 years old by checking out a VHS tape and practicing along at home. Now I'm here 20 years later doing the same thing, only with RUclips and my phone 😁 I think there's been a real resurgence in interest in these crafts, though! All of my fellow Millenial-aged friends either knit, crochet, cross stitch, do embroidery, or some combination of all of the above. Hell, even the boys are getting in on it these days! Thankfully, as long as these crafts continue to produce beautiful and fun projects, there will be people who love them and will want to make them ☺️
I'm looking to pick up embroidery again after not doing it since a teenager, and I only learned a couple stitches back then, so this video will be a HUGE help. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the tutorial! I've been embroidering on and off since I was in junior high school. I want to make a southern belle quilt with a southern belle on each block with scenery behind each, flowers etc. Very popular when I was a small child. My grandma used to embroider everything
Have learned the outline stitch! So thrilled! Eventually i want to embroider a full denim work shirt. Now to practice another super beginner embroidery stitch!
Beautiful stitches, I am making a crazy quilt of hexagon’s for the first time. I needed a refresher course on embroidery stitches. Thank You for your beautiful work.
This takes me back to my childhood! I was in Junior Girl Scouts, on a military base called Woodbridge in England, dad was in the Air Force and stationed there! Our Girl Scout Leaders taught us embroidery and we did a pot holder with different stitches! My mom still has it even though it is falling apart (probably made around 1965) and I have such fond memories of learning this so have decided to begin learning again!!
Embroidery done in primary school it gives lot of happiness to girls feeling of achievement, various thread colors ,feelings of excitement, parents praising the act boost confidence among all it can be done over pillow covers seeing everyday is awesome, above all it develops patience and wavelength of the individual
I like to embroider. I used to buy embroidered shirts on violity, and recently embroidered my first shirt. However, it is always interesting to learn new embroidery techniques
great video, especially for beginners. Doing samplers like this are fun and great practice. I do wish the video was narrated a little bit. Not saying you should talk through the whole video, the music is great too. But maybe a little narration explaining the stitch your doing and some helpful tips here and there would really top odd the video. Thanks for the videos! Keep up the good work friend! :)
I really love this and it’s so beautiful and it’s simplicity. Years ago my grandmother taught me how to employer and I want to make this for myself but I also want to teach my granddaughters ages eight and 11 how to make this as well and then frame it so they have it forever. I have a few things left that I did as a girl and say help me to stay close to my grandmother who has passed on to heaven❣️❣️😊 thank you for bringing this beautiful artwork back to the forefront of peoples minds❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️💕
So lovely after 60 years you took me to primary school,at age ten they taught us now days mobile spoiled every thing embroidery cloths were part of our marriage, tables cloths curtains, blouse and frocks had designs, thank u
I am extremely grateful for this Video. I have learned so much stitches in just one day🥰🥰🥰. I just started embroidery yesterday and it gives me so much joy to take this up as a new hobby.
Thank you so much for showing the different types of stitches which reminded of my childhood when I learnt these stitches in class 5 from our Art and craft teacher many years ago. Please show us some other useful, beautiful stitches
Thank your for the tutorial your work is beautiful. But what I also liked was at the end when you showed the underside. Nobody does this and I just wonder how it all comes together on top as well as the underneath. I’m going to try and make this as well. I hope it comes out as pretty as yours. 🥹🌷🦋🪷
This is a wonderful tutorial! I did a lot of embroidery in high school and college, but I hadn't done any in years. I just started teaching an after-school class, and this is a great refresher course. Thank you for making this excellent video!
Thanks so much for this video it has been a God send and learning some new stiches for a massive project I'm currently undertaking. And this makes a beautiful piece of work.
This is wonderful! Just what I was looking for. Small note, the image suggesting another video pops up over the last stitch. I can see the name, but not how to do it. I don't know if that's something you can adjust or not, so I just wanted to point it out. Thanks again for the wonderful tutorial!
