Swimming, barking and running are pretty much the go-to sports to stay healthy
Hahaha I heard bark as well
I love to bark also
Not very much, recent findings turned things on its head
Barking 😎
Barking? No wonder why dogs are always with sooo much energy barking is the secret 😂
On the subject of (over)compensating with food, I think swimming is the worst for this. It ramps my hunger up massively and leaves me likely to eat huge quantities when I get home!
I think the answer is cycling. I just got a road bike (first one ever) and have lost 2kg in a week. - Running (Marathon training has made no real difference to me) I think key difference is you can go for a 2 -3 hour ride every day with no recovery needed. You can't go for a 2 - 3 hour run without recovery time.
If we have about 1500 to 2000kcal in liver etc on tap . We can do a good 2hr to 3hr cycle without eating and bonking I have found , once over that 3hr mark I like to eat and eat 😀
its rather obvious...its not a rocket science...
1. Running
2. Indoor bike trainer
3. Outdoor bike ride
4. Swimming
Just my thoughts as a time crunched duathlete and ex swimming coach.
I can defiantly burn more outdoor if I have too, like doing a 1hr FTP test/race outdoors on a hill vs indoors
Even with 2 fans in winter
@@Mike0 Regarding cycling, if you include prep time and post ride faff I still think you will burn more calories per minute indoors. Add into it descending from the hill where you'll be free wheeling. On the trainer I am constantly pedalling and I'll do 800-900KJ indoor, outside I might do 600-700KJ max but that has to be constant pedalling.
What is easier to fit into your everyday life?
What is easier to spend multiple hours doing?
Even if running or swimming burns x calories more per time unit, biking will always be the easiest way to burn them, and to burn a lot of them consistently.
Good luck running 4-8 hour runs every weekend to burn a shtton of calories at once, good luck swimming 2 hours a day, something that can easily be done on your commute by bicycle. If you live near your workplace, running to and from work could be valid too.
So biking > running > swimming, for most people.
You can do partial running commute. Might even save some money without extra time spent. Skipping meals and having longer time between evening and morning meals will do wonders with no extra cost and efforts included.
But I sit up to comutte ad I have a backyard pool and I can't ride a bike.
I think the available time is important to consider. I love swimming and cycling, but running usually is less time consuming unless you live very close to a swimming pool.
Being time crunched, the easiest to fit in my shedule is in my commute. 2 x 40 min a day on my bike. Once a week I try to run, but have let that slide a bit during the summer.
Another benefit of swimming vs the other two is the amount of dirty laundry 😅
For most people running is a much easier sport to get into and sustain. Think time and $.
Thank you. Very educational
Great Video. It’s all about balance IN YOUR available and most importantly what kind and portion of calories you are ingesting! Thanks #GTN! 🤓
You’ve done this one a couple of years ago. Not much has changed😂
‘Cycling requires a bike’
Agreed
Depends also which you can sustain for longer and recover from faster
I can drink vodka all night then sleep all day...
For me it's swimming as I Live it Florida ad have a back yard pool... I can't ride a bike and my legs burn up and stiffen with in minutes of running... So yeah this video focused on the wrong things for most people... It should have been situation agnostic and just described the facts of calories loss per minute of activity.
British: 'trainers'
Rest of World: 'Uh, the shoes or that indoor thingy'?
At the End I am thinking the best way to reduce my weight is Running 6 days and 1 day rest. The only con is the sweater clothes and some skin rubs of heavy body. But I stopped it because of High Temperatures at my home place in India for 7 months which affects my motivations so much so I am going to consider swimming it will be expensive for me. The other side running doesn't require much cost except a pair of shoes, shocks and Washing clothes.
What if I do
Swiming - Monday
Running - Tuesday
Cycling - Wednesday
I've experimented with this. Cycling is the only sport I can't out eat.
If weight loss is your goal put the fork down and stop eating so many calories no good doing a triathlon burning 3000 calories if you stuff 4000calories down your neck afterwards
Exactly. You can't outrun a bad diet.
@@sexydictator3241 "You can't outrun a bad diet." Yep It will always overtake you🤣
Iol...sure bet.
@@savagepro9060 Spend less time off the bike :) haha
Heather was awesome
Every sport that ups your heart rate will burn calories, however - doing S&C will give you more lean body mass (muscles) which might increase your metabolic rate and therefore help your energy balance and 'burn' calories. Oh yes.....and a good diet.
running.
Running of course.
Off course?
@@julesdepinth3303 yeah, you gotta OFF track to burn more calories on unexpected trails🤣
@@julesdepinth3303 you donot understand.Rephrasing - Of course it is running.
@@savagepro9060 let me rephrase, of course, it is running.
@@aaronhunte8768 your original statement was good, just needed a coma after 'running' ---> 'running, of course'
👍🙏
Swimming because the body has to keep itself warm in the water which in increases caloric expenditure
Just because it increases calorie expenditure doesn’t mean it burns more
@@jimjamthebananaman1 Exactly, you can do it for a shorter time + your body tends to end up wanting more calories after the pool because of the temperature change
I doubt the body tries to keep itself warm while swimming...
During exercise the body does things like sweating to lower body temperature and avoid overheating. When you're swimming, the cool temperature of the water keeps you from overheating naturally, so your body doesn't have to do things like sweat. If anything I feel like swimming would burn less calories as your body temp is naturally kept more stable by the water temp so the body doesn't have to bother lowering it
@@andreyskvortsov9546 Be careful, you do actually sweat quite a bit when you swim and your body certainly works to regulate its core temperature
The temperature of the water itself is an important variable. The colder the water the more heat the body will try to generate
Fasting burns more.
drinking vodka straight all night and then sleeping all day its even more beneficial...
If you can only do one everyday, running definitely let you lose the most weight
They don't all burn the same calories, running bruns more.
Guessing the best way is to do what you like, more of the time. Ps fix that diet!
There is one blatant falsehood in this video, which is when Mark claims that there is not much difference between the disciplines, as long as you do them at the same intensity (and with intensity they meant heart rate). This couldn't be more wrong. It all depends on how much power you can put out, because power needs energy, and energy = calories.
So if you can run at a high pace (let's say 3:30min / Km) but at a low heart rate, you will still burn a shitload more calories than if you would bike really slow (let's say at 100W) but with a very high heart rate... Geesz guys, thats basic physics. Get your shit straight.
Preach it! People seem to think that cycling doesn’t burn as many calories as running but that’s primarily because running is quite consistent with calories burned e.g. ROUGHLY running one mile burns about 100 calories (depending on your weight etc) opposed to cycling which is largely dependent on power produced e.g. about 200 watts an hour burns about 700 calories (about 7 mph of running).
@@jimjamthebananaman1 As intensity goes, cycling at 200W would for me corresponds to a slow jog, but the energy expenditure during the 200W cycling is very much higher than during my slow jog, even though the intensity would be the same. Preach it brotha!
Good information 👍🏻, the easiest way to lose the extra weight is fasting ( 18hr) and low carb diet!😂, running will definitely make the process faster and your heart stronger! I started running after four years in my fasting and low carb diet, I run before breaking my fast , three days a week , 6ks and 9k ! Got addicted to it!😂🫀🫀🫁, I also have Mt bike and swim, find running the easiest, fastest and more enjoyable !
